It is a topic worth revisiting. I mean I suppose we could create a new thread called Chinese Democracy 2 Did Anyone Ever Hear What the Tracklist Was 2 instead...
It's absolutely amazing that we still don't even have the tracklist. 13 years later. How hard would it be for anyone on the "inside" to just provide the list without their name attached.
Chris Pitman should do it out of spite. Or Bumblefoot out of pity.
Has anyone directly associated with the band even acknowledged that this album existed? (Not you, Pele)

Always loved the short piano or keyboard part at the very end of Breakdown, after Axl says "Didya hear that?"
Also, while I'm not always a fan of synthesizers, love the epic synth part in the Paradise City intro.

It is my hope that Axl will visit the forum one day and after reading all of these lists, gets so pissed off that he goes into the studio the very next day and records vocals for Oklahoma just to fuck with these guys.

A reminder that this "new album is coming" thread started in 2019.

Hopefully Richard will say hopefully things can be clarified soon
It's just about that time in the cycle, isn't it? Or are we more due for Dizzy to say he has "no idea" what's going on.

Looks like instead of the Fortus interview, OP accidentally posted a transcript from a hostage video instead.

Still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that Guns n' Roses finally released a new single ... and it's fucking Silkworms! And it's pretty damn good!!
Just when it seemed like there was no hope for a new album, it's gotta be inevitable now. Hard School should be next, though who the hell knows with this band.
Just as likely to be Crash Diet at this point... but I shall remain optimistic. New album incoming, and I'll predict the album title will be ... Absurd.

That's an awesome interview, hadn't heard that one before. Thanks for the heads up.

Some people have suggested it could be a track written by the old band, and I think Duff said at one point in the 90s they would have a song on a Jackie Chan soundtrack.. If this was it that would explain why they jokingly referred to it as 'Jackie Chan'.

This isn't a drill. James Hetfield posted an audio announcement saying "new Metallica music" is coming tomorrow, July 15.
"Hey, this is James from Metallica. Tune in on Wednesday to hear new Metallica music from S&M2," the frontman teased in the segment. Listen below.
While his message doesn't offer much, there is a premiere for a trailer of S&M2 and a live version of the song "All Within My Hands" on Metallica's YouTube channel scheduled for Wednesday, July 15. Lars Ulrich announced in June that the S&M2 shows were going to be released as a box set later this summer, so this is likely the first single being released from the set.

It's certainly hard to be optimistic considering this band's ridiculous history of not releasing anything for years and years. However, we have to admit that there are several positive signs:
- We know there's a lot of songs in the vault
- Slash & Duff have hinted at new music, & Slash was in the studio
- Fernando and Jarmo both seem optimistic about new music in 2020 (and they have connections to the inner circle, obviously)
Am I optimistic? Not really, because we've been disappointed so many times before. I think Axl still partially lives in the vacuum of 1991, where bands got huge advances for new music. I have wondered if his demands were part of the Chinese Democracy delay. And I wonder if Slash's recent comments referred to the idea that bands don't make anywhere near as much money from a new album as they used to, but a new GNR album is extremely valuable, so finding an agreement that the band and record company can be happy with ain't that easy. Especially for the first new music featuring Axl & Slash since 1991. The band wants money and a big promotional budget to move forward.
Fernando's 6-month comment suggests March (if I recall correctly). Maybe it's been pushed back to May, prior to part of the Euro tour. If nothing happens again this year it's probably time to just give up and move on. But I still think something will happen, in 2020. Axl can be difficult but I believe that creative drive is still lurking inside him, somewhere .......

So you’re saying there are versions of these songs that exist with lyrics and vocals? How do u know?
The leak for Quick Song has guide vocals from Axl so we can only assume he managed to write and record lyrics in the last 19 years. And he mentioned recording vocals for Soul Monster, so therefore a version with lyrics must exist.

It's a good question and I would love to hear his thoughts on the whole thing. Wish he'd do another interview soon.
I really thought getting the album out in 2008 would have removed a huge monkey from his back and he could move on, but he's had 11 years to Rock the Rock and still no new music. Which I find absolutely shocking, and frustrating (as I'm sure we all do).
If I had to guess, I'd say he is proud of the work but especially after the reunion is now "over" the whole thing to a large extent. We'll see if the rumours are true with regard to actually moving on, in March.

Seems pretty clear that the Not in This Lifetime tour is officially over. New music speculation will continue to grow.
Until March, when the band announces the Not in This Lifetime 2 tour, and add Pretty Tied Up and Reckless Life to the Alt Setlist.

I'm floored that ITW was essentially ready to go in it's final form in 2001. I thought for sure at least the vocals got added later on for that one.
Mustache is fucking killer. One of the best instrumentals off these discs, absolutely no doubt.
This is the best version of Quick Song yet.
Still working my way through the rest.
Totally agree, first listen through I was shocked to hear vocals on ITW - it's unbelievable how much of this album was close to done by late 2000.
And of the tracks we're hearing for the first time (on first listen) I was most impressed with Mustache, this song could be really great with vocals.
I was mildly disappointed with Shankler's, much prefer the later version but it's certainly interesting to hear.

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, we're all still here desperately hoping someone will leak November Rain, a song Axl still hasn't released but that Alan Niven once described as an "epic rocker with strings and killer guitar solos" back in 1989.

'Quick Song', is a rock song with a riff similar to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit (Jeff Leeds, Sp1at Website, 2005).
