  1. Didn't find the song that cool to be honest, but that's just a snippet. I'd like to hear that Slash solo. But the movie? It's already getting very positive reviews and I'm dying to watch it. It's def a smart move to be in this soundtrack, it should have GNR on it (not joking at all). Funny thing is that by far, the most embarrassing thing with all this is the "men still had balls" comment.
  2. From the moment I read that news about Axl and Slash at the studio, I thought they wouldn't play anything new before the NA tour. I still think that's what's gonna happen. Then again, Duff said "this week" after that studio picture, so I think something is about to happen anyways. As far as I know, they stopped rehearsing Perhaps after the rehearsal video was posted, so maybe that's the reason? I don't know. Look, I know we shouldn't assume anything with this band. That's reasonable. But there's no reason to think that Absurd/Hard Skool combo was a one-off move at this moment IMO.
  3. No, Riad was always on the cards. I remember as far as 2006, the song was being considered.
  4. Indeed. Back in 2002, Axl said this on the gnronline interview with Del: There are a lot of new songs that were just done in the last year that we feel that ‘okay, well that bumps a lot of stuff off the previous list but it's time to stop that now and wrap up the baby. Source: https://heretodaygonetohell.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=82 I think it shouldn't be presumed that "a lot of new songs" from 2001 to 2002 are just Scraped, Shacklers and TIL. And of course, after the failed NA Tour in late 2002, the band probably came back to studio to do whatever work Axl needed. But most of the instrumental work was already for CD was already done in 2000, sans some overdubs in songs like Madagascar, IRS and Prostitute, along with full work on "new ones" like Better, Shacklers etc.
  5. People should keep in mind that the Village sessions were just a screenshot of that time. Most of the work there is pre-Bucket, but it doesn't have This I Love or even Oh My God (in any kind of new mix). The other part post-Bucket has very early demos of some songs, one of them (Shacklers) in a proto-form. It's very possible that the same sessions (from 2002/03) that had Scraped, maybe TIL and a later version of Shacklers also had The General, which implies to me that are several other tracks that we may not know the titles. Axl recorded vocals by that time or in 2004/05. After Universal stopped the funding, I think Axl had a lot of work at his home studio too, which is undocumented. Then, he (and Caram) prioritized work on Shacklers, Scraped, TIL and Better over other more structured instrumental tracks like Atlas, Quicksong, Perhaps, Hardskool, Silkworms/Absurd. Why? We don't know, but seems like they shuffled the CD tracklist a bit. Still, if he worked on all this (including The General), why would anyone think he ONLY have those 1999/00 semi-finished tracks on his basket, with no additional work in any of the instrumentals and not a single new track from Buckethead or even the rest of the band after that? Also, I believe the leaks influenced CD tracklist and are still influencing the later releases of Absurd, Hard Skool and (maybe) Perhaps. Occam's Razor: "the simplest explanation is preferable to one that is more complex". To me, the skepticism about the lack of releases seems to overshadow the fact that everyone from the band, mgmt and press stated that there were a lot of recording during all those years.
  6. I think I missed this. What was said? What do you mean about "old instrumental"?
  7. That's what I thought. It's an homage to the Beatles-esque nature of the song. IMO, the sitar effect doesn't really capture this sound and would sound off in Atlas. I still think Richard was talking about other song (The General or anything else besides Perhaps).
  8. That was Dave Navarro's solo. I like it and prefer it over Bucket one, actually. Why?
  9. Guys, it's clearly "The GeNDER Reveal Party"
  10. But the plan was to actually play it (and Hard Skool) back then, I guess. Then the pandemic happened. Did they rehearse it again until 2023?
  11. True. Judging by that rehearsal clip, Perhaps is pretty straight forward tho. I wonder if they felt the need to listen with several headphones/speakers for a more complex mix like The General seems to have. Of course, even if Perhaps is more simple, it's still good to hear how it sounds in different scenarios. Yeah I still feel like they target the US market for this, as they would need to make some news with the releases. But we do have almost a full month worth of the European tour, so maybe it would be too early to rehearse a new song in soundchecks if it's not to actually play it soon.
  12. As far as range, I think it's one of the most challenging song to sing. The fact that he even attempted to go to the high note on "only memories" shows that he was more confident. Of course, not talking about rasp, chest voice or anything like that. From the technical perspective, I think he did pretty good.
  13. If Axl and Slash were listening to different mixes last week, this won't get released until the NA tour.
  14. I don't get this "Pele was right" trend going on. Did anyone here actually think that Perhaps would have a lot of different vocals? And how does The General fit on this, since it wasn't recorded in 1999? Pele didn't came up with the idea that those Village tracks would reappear with the same vocals - that's basically what happened throughout the CD album. And why would Axl rerecord the vocals anyways? Again, as many already said, Pele wasn't entirely wrong, but wasn't entirely right either. He just used common sense to try to pass it as he was some sort of an insider. And he did that in every single thread, regardless if it was about new songs or not. That's just spam in my books.
  15. Thanks for the videos. That was the best Street of Dreams since the reunion by far. And Richard's playing was excellent on this one.
  16. Indeed, but I think he's just playing a regular LP. Did my best to try to learn and play it:
  17. You mean because of the tremolo-like sound in the middle of the solo? Not sure, I think he did that just with his fingers. It would be the only time he used the tremolo bar too.
  18. Slash solo in Perhaps is not only uninspired, but I think he hit some wrong notes there. And all the amazing guitar work throughout the song is lost. Oh well
  19. Both points are exactly my thoughts on all this. Axl probably should get his mic closer when he sings in his head voice to compensate for the lack of volume. Either this or learn how to sing from his mixed/chest voice in a lower volume. Not sure if it's all his fault tho. There were some parts that the overall sound mix wasn't so good, which is very common for a TV broadcast. It would be nice, boy. Here it is the image:
  20. A bit too much drooling haha. He always does that. Comes with the age I guess That was Pele with his 1999 lighter.
