Sorry is my top 3 from the CD album after TWAT and SR.

I've listened to Slash's By the Sword and I really like it but I've noticed the similarities of some riffs and solo. I mean the new song has suddenly changed the tune when reaches the solo.

Guitar riff from Sorry started at 1:58 and solo at 3:00.

well you hear what you want to hear... it's very true, if you're looking for something then it suddenly starts to make sense in your head, but I do agree that the song changes when it reaches the solo, I'm not a guitar expert and I don't know shit about the mechanics behind tuning a guitar and amps and shit, but the tuning of the guitar is very different in the solo and even though I like the song, I hate the solo, I think it slows the song down too much and it doesn't really have that much power as it should, but there are certain similarities, like the slowly progressing style of the solo, sorry has the same thing, it starts with some slow melodic picking and then gets more intense toward the end, but in regard to the riffs being the same... nope i don't think so, i'm pretty sure it's a sort of a cognitive effect when you hear what you wanna hear or you've just listened to chidem so many times that you're looking for stuff that sounds the same in every other piece of music, I mean I constantly do that, but you have to take a step back sometimes and see it from an other angle

The end of the Slash riff sounds like the end of a song on Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Funny cos some people say Sorry sounds pink floydish.

Q: SORRY and BY THE SWORD have the same riffs?

A: No.

Sounds nothin' like 'By the sword'.

Sorry is a completly original tune, It may have various aspects of 'Inspiration' from other leading artists like Floyd for instance. But i can quite assure you those are not the same Guitar Riffs. And to compare the two..i've just spent a few hours comparing both tracks with my Mac software (Yes Mac is shit, but i happen to have a Mac Computer as well). And i'm pleased to say that they are MOST defintly not the same in terms of Guitar played throughout the track.

Slash had video of the guitar part to "By The Sword" posted on the Gibson website in March 2008.

With guitar tab for the song.

I don't hear it.

Yes, I heard it too. Layered guitar riff from 1:58 (Sorry) which has the same vocal melody and guitar riffs of By The Sword.

Check this guitar riff and compare it to Sorry 1:58 or or I heard it clearer at 2:27: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayENMkErJho&feature=player_embedded

We are not debating here, we are fans and the curiosity isn't a crime here. Peace!
