But who makes money off the Rock Hall? Record labels? It's a nonprofit and Wenner throws the shindig because without it, the doors to the museum would prob. close up,. I can't imagine the museum gets a huge turnout on a day to day basis, but that's Wenner's master plan of putting it in Cleveland instead of NY or LA where more people would prob. have gone to. But it's not a moneymaking scam. Maybe a tax writeoff, and a little bit of publicity for artists that make it in, but it's not like Laura Nyro or Wanda Jackson's back catalog led to instant millions. Maybe Axl saw a little bit more in royalty money this year because people downloaded some of their songs around that time, but he prob. saw 20 bucks, if that. Lemmy said the Rock Hall lost his Ace of Spades tour jacket. How old are Dizzy's kids? To be clear though- my position has always been that though flawed in many ways- the RNHOF is not entirely w/o merit or meaning. On the whole- I still think Axl and Dizzy probably should have gone (and just not performed). I actually went to the RNRHOF this summer and enjoyed it greatly. The exhibits are incredible.As far as the other comment about Dj being a bigger "rock star" than Dizzy- I actually agree. I also think Tommy's probably made a bigger name for himself in music (though not in the popular rock genre per se) as well. That said- as an official recording member of "Old Guns"- Dizzy certainly deserves more respect IMHO than Tracy, Roberta, Teddy Zigg Zag and even Gilby (who I like- but only appeared on a covers album) IMHO... Was listening to the DP 3 CD "Live in Japan", expanded version of the original "Made in Japan" release, yesterday on the way to work..It has most of the three shows which made up the "Made in Japan" live album.....absolutely one of the best live albums of all time............still hoping they do that album justice and release a box set with all three shows complete someday...........
