I heard about this "paradisecity.com" thing at htgth a couple weeks ago. I went to the url and signed up thinking nothing would ever come of it. Then I got this email last night:

Hey Gunner!

Thanks for your invitation request to ParadiseCity.com We are working on some finishing touches to the ParadiseCity.com community that is Plugged in the Backplane.

The initial invitations will go out soon to folks truly passionate about Guns N’ Roses past, present and/or future. If you really want in on the ground level of what will be the purest, rawest, must-go place to find any and all things GN’R, hit us back here with some insight on what makes you that initial invite type of Gunner! Link us to your online places: your blog, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, Myspace, Friendster, AIM, whatever social network/messenger accounts along with which online GN'R communities or others that you like, and what you DON'T like. This way we can work to connect the right things and make this YOUR Paradise City!

And DON'T be shy! If you know any Gunners that might find this cool and fit the mold, feel free to forward them this email and copy us (so we know you think they are legit). Just tell them to request their invite at ParadiseCity.com and to reply back to this email with their info!

Muchas GRACIAS! and get ready. This is gonna ROCK!

Apparently this is through the same company that handles an online fan club for Lady Gaga. Any thoughts on this? Are they getting ready to have yet another "official website" launch?

Its run by a company called Backplane, who tries to create social forums with new ideas on how to socialize within it. They have also made one for Lady Gaga, which apparently gave them some publicity here and there.

I signed up aswell, not sure what to expect. They must know that a band like GNR who has so much documented, so much material, and so many loyal fans who knows just about everything about ANYTHING the band has ever done, that they will have to have done their homework big time in order for this to ever take off.

A huge gamble imo. I would start with a small and insignificant band, like Green Day.

As requested, here's some info about me:

I've been a fan of GN'R since 1988 and active in the online community since 2006. I've supported every era of the band as each line up has usually had 2-3 members I genuinely like outside of Axl. I have post regularly on Here Today Gone To Hell as well as mygnr.com but not nearly as much as my own forum; www.gnrevolution.com

I've been assisting in running GNRevolution for about 5 years and the reason our forum has a dedicated user base is because we allow discussion on all eras of Guns N' Roses. All opinions are welcome and no user is allowed to openly insult another. It gives our discussions a base level of respect and then they only go up.

What I expect for paradisecity.com is follow through. Guns N' Roses have had at least two "official websites" including the latest version where users are expected to pay for access to special items. Almost none of these special items have been offered over the past year outside of ticket pre-sale opportunities for "VIP Access" that ended up being unorganized. Many paying users (myself included) have been left to feel like the band and "management" truly do not care what goes on with Guns N' Roses' online profile so long as they're making money.

They just replied with this:

www.paradisecity.com wrote:

Thanks for the reply and info. We have heard others with similar sentiments and aim for this to be more about the Brand than the Band per se. We hope previous members including Slash and Duff would find value and participate as well. At the end of the day, we are building an online community that will evolve to what the community members evolve.

Yeah but this thread was created before that thread (which I knew existed but wasn't sure which sub-forum it was buried in). Maybe they should be merged an left on the main page.

Ahh okay. Yeah it should definitely be on the main page. Give the people what they want, right?
