Maybe they would have gone with Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson. Bruce in 2013 is at a more realistic age where they would have kept the original story intact, retired cop trying to save his daughter, vs Die Hard where he had a rocky marriage. Bruce in 2013 is at a more realistic age where they would have kept the original story intact, retired cop trying to save his daughter, vs Die Hard where he had a rocky marriage. That's the sad thing about this franchise. It's one of the few action movies where the character aging could actually really be used to the movie's advantage, in a clever way, because he was never a superhero in the early films and in fact that was what made him so appealing; but this latest one just sucked. Hard. Pun intended. And fwiw I loved the third and fourth films where he became increasingly unrealistic (surfing on waves in the underground system, hanging-ten on the backs of fighter jets -- at least the sequences were still pretty cool).
