GNR Confessions

I confess that I believe CITR could have been an incredible, A+ song if it were produced differently (change the arrangement around, don't let bumble play on it, ease off the hyperproduction).

I confess that I believe none of the actual GNR members (Axl, Slash, etc) would have ever become successful were it not for the original 5 guys. Yes, meaning, even if Steven Adler hadn't been in the original band, then none of GNR's success would ever have happened. This was a rare, once-in-a-lifetime event where the exact right 5 people met at the exact right time; had it been anyone other than those 5 guys or any time other than 1985 in LA, then none of them would have become anything of note.

I confess that people who claim to love nu-GNR more than actual GNR are just trying to be different. It's like saying you love eating dog-shit sandwiches; when people ask you, WTF, why on earth would you eat dog shit on bread? You can reply, "You just don't get it, man. I'm way more deep than you, so I understand how incredible dog shit tastes on bread."

Bucket and fink are amazing guitarists but are a shitty fit for GNR. Guns needs to be a hard rock and blues band, I don't want any evolution, keep it generic, that's what made them great and famous

There is not a single guitar riff on Chinese (not solos) that competes with the best riffs written by Slash and Izzy during their time in guns. Edit* (except Shacklers and Better)

Izzy was more important to the sound of Appetite than Slash

Axl is GNR and has a right to continue without the original lineup but in many ways he messed up and made fans believe he needs the original lineup

Slash is more to blame for the break up because he didn't fight for the fans or the band like he claims

People give Chinese way too much crap, it is one of the best rock albums to come out in the past 10 years

The worst decision Axl has made since 2008 was hiring DJ Ashba

I don't understand how hardcore fans of GNR are ok with this emo *ag poser being in the band.

Best GNR confession: I was streaming porn videos but they were taking a while to load so I decided to check my regular websites for a minute. Now, I already had my dick in my hand, lotion on it and everything, sitting there with my headphones on. Someone had posted a clip of Estranged Tokyo '92 so I decided to click it. It started playing and without thinking, I was somewhat stroking my dick, just trying to keep it hard for when the porn was finished. Before I knew it, I was into the song and had closed my eyes and slipped away. It wasn't until the piano bridge that I realized I was jerking my dick to the beat of Estranged. I quickly became grossed out and turned the video off.

Now THAT'S a confession.

 best post in thread

-I ran around my house screaming like an idiot when I found out GnR was playing at the VMAs.

-I felt really embarrassed to be a GnR fan when the VMAs showed Robin Finck on stage dressed like he was at a Peter Murphy concert.

-The more music I hear from Slash, the more I feel like he had little to do with GnR's success, aside from wearing a hat and standing in a cool pose.

-As much as I loved Chinese Democracy, I don't really want to hear the rest of the ChiDem sessions, because at this point I only want more music that sounds like UYI.

-I thought Axl's short braids were really cool.

-I think GnR is way better than the Beatles.

-I feel like DJ Ashba is the only person in the band who would make an effort to write material that sounds like the old GnR.

-I thought Axl singing in his Mickey Mouse voice while wearing a women's raincoat at Rock In Rio was more embarrassing than anything Sebastian Bach, David Lee Roth or Gene Simmons has ever done.

-I honestly believe the current incarnation of the band could create something on par with Appetite or UYI.

- I miss original GN'R

- The solo/instrumental section of TIL is GN'R's greatest musical moment

- I have never had any feeling for any "hired musician" in any nuGN'R lineup

- Slash is a success, Axl is not

- Gotten is one of my fave songs

- I've never listened to Live Era

- I've never listened to Greatest Hits

- I've always had a man crush on Axl and found him captivating to look at (more so AFD/UYI days)

- The peak of my GN'R love was watching the Patience performance at the 1989 AMA's. As a young teen they were the shit.

- I own one of Slash's AFD replica Epiphone guitars and she is beautiful

- Axl reminds me of Howard Hughes and I hope GN'R's unique story is made into a movie one day

- I have no opinion whether I think another album will be released but lean towards yes

- The Brian May CITR demo was gold for radio. What's on the album is ridiculous and a good song ruined.

- Team Brazil have Axl's best interests at heart

- Scraped gave me a lot of strength and inspiration to fight a very ugly divorce

2006 Axl is my favorite version in terms of both voice and appearance during Chinese Democracy time shit.

I loved Robin Finck in the band.

This I Love has one of my favorite solos of all time. DJ completely ruins it for me. I would love to hear Finck play it.

Also... Chinese Democracy is the only Guns album that I don't skip a track on. Is it their best? No. But I don't skip any songs.

I had a VHS tape stored in my family TV/VCR in Europe. I always had it there just in case there was something I wanted to see get recorded. One time (and only one time), Guns N' Roses November Rain played.Think about how music videos basically disappeared at the end of the 90s. That was probably the only time that video got played all year, and I was in the right place at the right time. I hit the record button immediately. All 9 minutes of the video. After the video ended, I turned the record button off.

Come to find, my sister, despite having an understanding that I kept that in the VCR at all times, had taken it out, and failed to replace it. Funny that. I flipped. the. fuck. out. I smashed the VHS tape into a thousand pieces in the back area of the house. The neighbors heard me screaming at the top of my lungs in English. I'm not sure they understood what it was all about. I cursed my sister like an enemy. My sister is devoid of empathy, and wasn't sorry at all and just stood there in contempt without apologizing one bit.

That was like over 10 years ago though. We're not close anymore.

True story.

I despise the Estranged video. For me, it represents everything that was wrong with old guns at the end.

From the walking on water, to the tanker jump, to that nauseating paedophilic smile with the dolphin at the end, it's the most cringe-worthy video ever made.

It really gives you a clear sense of how the band was entirely surrounded by nothing other than enabling arse-lickers by that point.

- i believe somewhere there is a techno-influenced version of chinese democracy with a different tracklist and what i currently own is record company acceptable. but i still like it.

- izzy leaving the band had a far worse impact than slash

- the worst thing about steven adler getting kicked out of the bandd was matt sorums drum solo

- the only reason my favorite rock band got so huge in the first place was because a bunch of teenage girls were fingerering themselves to Scom.

- my world is great

Axl has my full support always

I hate Slash

Still love Duff & Izzy

CD is my fave GNR album

I hate Bad Apples

Beta has destroyed Axl, he is like a wounded tiger he enjoys performing but the tenacity & anger is gone.

I think if Cobain gave Axl a chance Cobain would still be alive today.

Axl & Hetfield are so similair it's ridiculous.

I would love to see Garden Of Eden live.

I have high hopes that one day we could see a joint tour of Guns N Roses, Sixx AM & Dead Daises.

I believe Seb Bach was the most important person in pushing Axl to get Chi Dem out.
