Worst GNR solo?

Recommended Posts

Coverfoot's CD solos are awful. The Antiquiet versions are far superior.

The worst solo recorded would be a tie between ballad of death and mi amor.

You're judging the person rather than the music ;) if slash had played either if those you'd love them!

BOD is a GREAT great solo I love that peace.

If Slash played, it might be great. You never know.

Come on, I fuckin' hate DJ's shit, but Ballad Of Death is not bad. It's melodic, it has direction, and even if the phrasing is stiff stiff stiff, the piece is cool. The "chorus" especially. It's the only thing DJ came up with which I consider decent, but like...just my opinion.

The only one that's slightly tolerable is mi amor. Its not who's playing it, its the music is boring, imo. The only GNR member past or present who's done instrumental work I enjoy is Bucket.

DJ's versions of Patience and TIL

On record, idk. Too many UYI songs I haven't listened to in 5 years to say. Like, I have absolutely no idea how the Right Next Door to Hell solo sounds, for example.

Of the ones I know, probably IRS just because it's a chopped up mess.

So from all the solos on the studio albums which do you think is the worst?

There's no such thing as a bad solo on ANY GNR record

all of the solos (even in the catharctic mess in CD) sounds fucking good

Hmm maybe the Live Like a Suicide solos are too simple (at least for my taste)

This thread just highlights how vital Slash is to the gnr song. Thal has a handful of solos and all are tuneless endeavors. In contrast, Slash could not commit a bad solo to record if he tried. You can take shitty b-side quality gnr songs like Shotgun Blues or Back Off Bitch and they all have incredible fretwork.
