Popular Post Blackstar
“Malcolm Young would shred picks. It's like he would pick them up and they’d turn to dust!”: Richard Fortus breaks down his role as Guns N’ Roses’ rhythm machine – and explains the overlooked details that separate good players from great ones GNR's resident Gretsch signature artist discusses his chemistry with Slash – and how it echoes that of Izzy Stradlin's – and pinpoints his approach to staying in the pocket https://www.guitarworld.com/features/richard-fortus-guns-n-roses-talks-rhythm-guitar He also talks about the gear he used on Absurd, Hard Skool and Perhaps (the interview was conducted before the live debut of The General, so I guess that's why he doesn't talk about it). 3

adamsapple
Good stuff! Once you read past the Slash worship and his usual "we have no setlist" routine he's actually saying something in this interview. Thanks for sharing!
Rindmelon
Didn't know he used one of Mick Mars old amps on Better. Also talks about jamming with Izzy backstage and going to museums with him.
prairieboy
The amount of popups and ads on that website is incredibly annoying and makes it very difficult to concentrate on the article. 1 1
Voodoochild
The writer clearly wasn't aware that Richard also gets some solo spots and even leads on the new songs, so that felt like he didn't know much about him. Although I like how the article opens with this sentence: "2008’s criminally underrated Chinese Democracy". It's interesting how he used Orange amps with "heavier stuff", wonder if he used it on The General and/or Monsters too. His Monsters solo is clearly compressed a lot, but I'm not sure he managed that lead sound with his Magnatone.
bmus1
These recording sessions for the new songs are so bizarre and fragmented that I want to know everything about them.
