And did Baz sing tonite with AXL?
snappythingy
I'm back home after seeing the show tonight....what a treat! Axl was superb and his voice sounded strong and as good as ever. Best songs for me were November Rain and then SCOM. I also managed to get a guitar pick at the end of the show. Think it is from bass player Tommy Stinson as it has a big curving "S" scratched into both sides. Although it was a smaller warm-up show, don't be confused...this is had a stage and lighting set beyond any of the many shows I've seen at the Hammerstein. You could think you would turn around and look behind you and see a stadium. We were right alongside the vip balcony where Mickey Rourke was, together with a bunch of Victoria Secret models, and also Shannon Elizabeth. Other balcony had Lenny Kravitz and Fred Durtz there. Looked like Lenny really dug the show. Axl also nodded over to another guy in the balcony who looked like a rocker from an 80's metal band that I just can't remember, it's driving me nuts.So glad I finally got to see GNR live. Joe84
I think Axl would look better if he shaved his braids off and put one of Fred Durst's red Yankees hats on.Or if he just straightened his hair.Did they play Rocket Queen?
fishyguy
Wonder which Victoria's Secret models were there.

patcooper
i just back from the show and it fucking rocked. the crowd was on fire. the right side of the floor had a pit going during nightrain, axl and the band sounded onfire.they played rocket queen, axl dedicated the show to his mom {but i dont think it was his birth mom} and also to baz for saving his life. off bed more tomorrow. GET OFF AXLS BACK
Some people say this is not a band?Yes it fucking is - the thing with Tommy only goes to prove it.They had words but then it was over and back to being a band. From the sounds of things Axl and the band are really enjoying these gigs which is great for those who attend.BumbleFoot will rock the fuck out if just given enough time to settle! rock1
gnrjanus
well they say thanks so Sebastian he has a vocal trainer now so I think we have no worries.and I think Axl did his best job.even if it had to come down shorter the setlist.if that gives us the full show with axl full abilities
madison
I have 2 questions: Was Izzy there? And did Baz sing tonite with AXL?No, Izzy wasn't there, and yes, Baz sang with Axl again. Axl gave a long speech thanking Baz for being a friend and for "saving his life." As others have mentioned, Axl said he blew his voice out and Baz lined him up with a throat specialist to fix it. I have to admit that it's a concern that Axl would blow his voice out after one performance. And - even more disturbing - is that he'd be out partying both Friday and Saturday night instead of resting his voice. ... I have to say this isn't a good sign for the future. Axl's voice sounded fine for the show - although - as others have mentioned - he dumped a bunch of the newer songs from his playlist. Not sure why. No IRS. No Madagascar. No TWAT. Weird. One would think songs like Madagascar and TWAT would have been easier on his voice - than, say, Rocket Queen, which he added to tonight's playlist. *shrugs*Overall, I thought Robin totally rocked again - very energetic and charismatic throughout the show. And I have to say Bumblefoot must have listened to fans' concerns because he started moving around the stage a bit more - which was cool. At the end, Axl said he wanted to dedicate the show to his "mother" -- and then mentioned Beta's name. Speaking of dedications - On Friday, Axl dedicated SCOM to "Caroline." Just remembered that and thought I'd mention it since I don't recall others mentioning it. Anyway, I just got home about a half hour ago, and these are just a few quick thoughts from the show. madison
Thanks again maddy! Are you going to be at all 4 shows?Yes, I have no life. Seriously, we'll never get another chance to see GNR play in such a small venue. So, I'm taking advantage of the opportunity.

bangit
thanks for the quick reviews guys, you all must be very tired! Anyway, just a couple of qs: Did axls voice still sound great like friday night????? (to those who have been to both)Do axl and the band really seem like there enjoying themselves and are really into everything???Is KOHD still as soft a version as 02? i heard some of the poor quality bootlegs and it sounded like he put a some more effort into making it a little heavier towards the end. Thanks guys!Be interesting to see what his voice is like 2nyt seen as hes been having trouble with it. Im just glad that there are at least 2 days between most of the dates for the summer. Im sure he wouldnt have decided on those dates if he didnt think his voice could take it.

Slashthemutt
also kind of just back, I thought tonite was better then Friday, but maybe that is cuz I had seats in the Mezzanine on Friday and the sound sucked there,,,also hung around after and got autos from Dizzy, Robin and Bumblefoot(Ron Thal)And here they are for anyone that cares (I asked Bumble to sign his regular name cuz 2 nite earlier I had him sign it Bumbleoot, and he said he prefers being called by his regular name)ticket,, ron robin dizzydizzy robin
Slashthemutt
Do you know what the deal is for Mezz tickets? I'm in Mezz 1 and don't really know what that means. Sorry if this is a dumbass question. Thanks for being the ears of the people.I would try getting there really early to secure a spot in the first few rows for Mezzanine, because I had Mezz1 on Fridays show and the sound sucked up there and your view is always obstructed by people or polls or speakers or the ceiling,, plus the crowd was completly dead up there on Friday,, if you cant trade it in for a floor, I would recommend getting there really early like 4PM and waiting on line to make sure you get a good spot in the first row or 2... Wando
And here they are for anyone that cares (I asked Bumble to sign his regular name cuz 2 nite earlier I had him sign it Bumbleoot, and he said he prefers being called by his regular name)Very good! Sounds a lot less idiotic and it fits GnR better imo! What guitar did he play? Regular or one of those weird ones?Cool.. I also want him to be called by his real name so he would fit in GN'R better.. BBF is a lot easier to remember though I'm also intressed if he used the "footguitar" to other stuff than his solos or even to those?
