Anyone else notice that elsewhere was up 'till today, last time I checked was about 9AM CST, and now it redirects you to gunsnroses.com.

Whatchu talkin' 'bout? elsewhere works for me just fine.

Oh THAT elsewhere. I wasn't aware that there was another one besides the one that rhymes with blat.

Just for fun: elsewhere

Oh, I see what site you're talking about. Yeah, I thought there was only the one elsewhere site. Maybe GN'R didn't like the name of the site (too official sounding), so they bought it from the fan who made it? Seems likely.

Some of you people are such fucking whiners sometimes. All we hear for years is, "Why don't Guns N' Roses have something official to reach out to the fans with? Gnronline.com just doesn't cut it. We need an official outlet." Well, here it is. It's not all flash and pizazz, but who cares? It's official, it broadcasts new news, it mentions every member of the band in the headlines. So it doesn't have bios and pics of the band?!?!?! Oh no. I think I might actually live without those for a while.

An official site with official Guns N' Roses news, and all people can do is whine immediately. This site could come out and jerk you off virtually, and someone still wouldn't like it at all.

Is there ever a time for you that fans can be critical? The point is, that the site isn't jerking most fans off so the criticism is valid. Sorry, maybe some fans actually expect the basics of a band website to be present and fully tested, and done in an impressive way. What is wrong with that? Oh wait, they've only had four years to plan this. Shouldn't be too hard on them.

Now I'm sure the site will get better, and it's not the worst thing I've ever seen, but overall for an official launch it was pretty tame and anti-climactic. They could have done so much more. Run ads on TV that countdown to a site launch. Then launch something amazing, with the first single and video being shown on the site. Something like that. That might actually be classified as an event. This was a non-event. Now maybe they will end up doing this. Maybe today it was just a small launch aimed mainly at the hardcore fans, and a bigger and better site will launch later on when the heavy promotion starts. But nobody knows what'll happen later on, and so we comment on things as they are now.

By the way, some fans may have been crying for another news site instead of gnronline, but that one sufficed because for three years there was no news worth reporting. Well, now there is. It's fine for now, but not for long.

As a web designed, I must echo your comments. This site is sub-standard for such a great band. Let's just hope it is in it's infancy and will be developed further in the future.

They should hire the dude that did Velvet Revolver's website. :book:

The VR site is not that hard to make. It's just a flash animation. Handling html codes is a hell of a lot harder.

You think? I think you are wrong.

I could make a site like the VR one a lot faster than a normal html one. Sure, it'd take some time, but writing the whole html code is more difficult.

we would make a good team. I can almost write html when I'm sleeping. :P But flash takes some time for me. hehe

So what...are we supposed to except a mediocre website? I don't think so. It's nice to see that they have an official site running with some information, but hell, the site just looks like a 9th grade web-mastering project to me.

I have to agree.

I was surprised that the site looked the way it did after having years to prepare it. Sorry, but I just thought the site would be built out more - maybe use flash - and include bios, pics, history and clips of the band - at the very least.

I don't care if someone's critical, but constantly whining that it's not up to par right away is annoying. Everytime there's a big concert for Guns N' Roses, a ton of people have to come on to the forums and check to see if Axl announced a release date out loud for the album. It happens everytime. Then, everyone gets disappointed and wishes that something would happen. Now, something has. It doesn't have to be something significantly big. Hell, I'm sure plenty of people on this forum still don't believe that the album is actually going to come out this year.

Any new element you people want to a website can be added in hours, it's not difficult. How do we know this is a final product? How do we even know they've been working on it for a while? We don't. That's the thing. They could've just thrown this together in time for the promotion of the tour, and it can keep being added onto until the album is ready for release.

I've seen plenty of band sites that suck compared to this one, but they still relay news and that's what I go for. This site isn't anything special at all, but without it, I would've never been able to get any news. Finally we have something, and it won't suffice. That's fine, but you can be disappointed until the single comes out. The site launching didn't automatically mean the first single was going to be out. It never had to be climactic at first launch. It could be building to something. We don't know. Why whine as soon as it launches? It's completely pointless. Have we ever known this band and management to flash right off the bat? Not really. So, we pretty much know that they have to build to something.

I also agree the site looks bad. The pictures and the background looks like there very blury and bad quality. Oh well at least they have a site.

I'm exactly the opposite. Flash for me is easy, I do it pretty quick, but html is a pain in the ass.

But I guess it's not that hard, it's just that I haven't put the time and effort into it that I should to know how to do it correctly and quickly.

Okay, fair enough. I guess we just look at this differently. I think the website is something that should have been in the planning and design stages since the start of this year. There's really no excuse for throwing something together at the last minute for a band and album that have surely been heading into the final turn over the past year. If adding parts to it takes only hours then what is the excuse for not waiting another week and launching a fully featured and slick website? Or better yet, start a week earlier and have it done by yesterday. I agree that it doesn't have to be glitzy, especially at the expense of functionality, but it should be polished and complete. It should look more professional.

The video thing was just one idea. It would have been a good way to get people onto the site to check out what was happening. Then a lot of them would probably browse the site. You could have gotten them to read about the new band and the mythical album and why it's such a big deal in the first place. They could still do this; probably won't, but they could.

It's true that we don't know this isn't a finished product - I guess my point is why launch a product that isn't finished? They had enough time, lots of it actually. Hopefully it improves by leaps and bounds in the coming weeks.

The long wait is not a reason to not have an opinion about the site being crappy. It is a crappy site, not saying I´d rather have nothing. But come on, it looks like a kid has done it in like 30 minutes and in a hurry with one hand tied behind his back. We´re talking about GUNS N´ROSES official homepage and I was sure expecting something somewhat professional.

People who can´t handle criticism and that just are after licking GN´R anus should maybe stick to MSN-chatting with close firends and not hang on forums where people actually have different opinions about things. What´s the big deal if someone likes or dislikes the new page? Really? :sleeper:

Fair enough. I'm not saying it's the best site ever, because let's face it, it isn't. However, at this point, I think the aim with this site was to give more of a message for the tour. Reading about it on forums doesn't really help anyone else know about the band and the tour. I do agree that a background on CD itself is almost necessary at this point. Not everyone knows what this album is about. Even us fans at the forum still think this album has a kind of mythical presence, considering how little is actually known about it.

Hell, maybe the album is meant to have a bit of mystery about it. I really have no idea at this point, but the site looks to be more about the tour now than anything else.

I like the new site. It is simple. It doesn't say much, but it is better than what we had with a 2002 world tour logo.

May have been posted here earlier, didn't go through all 19 pages....

From gnr.com page:

Guns N' Roses fans are back, and the band wants to thank them for the tremendous response to the first 24 hours of concert ticket sales.

Be sure to come back to the GN'R's all-new, official Web site for constantly updated news, exclusive video, music and more.

On Monday, GunsNRoses.com will debut video of GN'R from the 2006 European Tour. More video will be added all week, so come back often to see the latest.

You'll also find insider news directly from the band (without the tabloid Lies), special offers and much more.

Interesting if true. Also interesting considering I may be right about this site. Well, maybe not, but still, nice to see something.
