You think bands press and package vinyls and other physical products BEFORE they start selling them?
Maybe not actually have them made already but you'd have to provide a forecast - again, this is standard business practice.

If the point is that the band should have communicated the problem sooner, I would just point out the following: a) they might have been able to do that but we don't know, b) it wouldn't have made a difference, the song would still have been delayed, c) the band don't do communication, and when they try they typically do it poorly.
And you find this all acceptable?
Can you imagine any other business where you can justify it by saying "they don't do communication"?
I will make an assumption here and say that you purchase goods online - why is this any different to that? If you order your groceries and it's delayed the night before with no communication, would you find that acceptable?

I would think so. What difference would it have made it you had known about the delay a week earlier, or two weeks earlier? You still have the option to cancel and get your money back. It is not like they have stolen your money
Sorry but I really think you're missing the point here!

How is the delay of the vinyl, which most likely is sue to pressing issues as people more knowledgeable about this than me have explained, an indication of "utter contempt"?
You don't think the band would have been aware of these pressing issues more than 1 day before release? The band have people's money and have given not a single shred of an update. Behave.

Not always. I stated that I bought tickets to a show in 2002 and they pulled the plug on the tour.
this is habitual and coming from someone who is quite literally the definition of a double talker.
“You be rippin' off the fuckin' kids
While they be payin' their hard earned money”
Yeah understand your point and I would be frustrated if I had tickets to a show that was cancelled, but it's probably fair to say that since 2006 it would be in excess of 90% of advertised shows have gone ahead...
With regards to releasing of songs - we had an official release of CD for March 2007 that came and went (with no update), secret releases of Absurd and Hark Skool, Perhaps release date leaked and delayed, then this delay. So currently they have not managed to hit one single date of any original music release since TSI.

That’s why I’ve been screaming for fans to stop buying tickets. Let the market correct the behavior.
Yeah that's fair - but to counter the point, at least with a show ticket you know you will get a show. Whether you think you get your money's worth or not, that's a different story, but still you actually get something tangible.

Canceling a 15$ vinyl ain't hurting anyone when they're selling 1000$ tickets for their shows. But sure, go on.
Yeah agreed here but the principle remains.
Currently I'm £15 down which absolutely pales in comparison to the money I've spent on the 19 shows I've attended, but the point remains that if they treat us with utter contempt then honestly they can shove it.

Still no word from the UK store so let’s see - but if it is delayed I will immediately cancel and pray for the song to be leaked.

Now it all makes sense why it hasn’t leaked - it doesn’t exist!

For me this IG post is almost clear evidence that either digital release will be on Friday or vinyl will be delivered on 27 at least for some people. But the first reason is much more logical for such a post.
P. S. Yep, it's a US general hat on this picture!
Agreed - for me this is as close to definitive proof as we’ll get.

Careful what you wish for.
From 1993-2008 the one song in the universe I wanted to hear more than anything else was This I Love.
Axl said it was the "heaviest thing he'd ever written."I fantasized about it. Was it gonna be like Estranged on steroids?? I even asked Axl about the song when I met him in 2002.
Not to derail this thread but what conversation did you have with Axl about TIL? Don’t think I’ve heard this one!

Where is this 'Atlas in November' stuff coming from?
As far as I can see it's being pulled out of thin air via a couple of 'insiders' and has zero credibility.
Am I missing something here?
You got it

I saw some pages back that ''The General = State of Grace?'' doubt was brewing again. I wrote down some simple sheet music to show how they are two completely different tunes.
State of Grace intro:
The General (orchestral middle part deciphered from both the 2010 phone recording and Evader's remake):
They definitely share similarities in that they have a similar tempo (SoG is in 76bpm and The General in 67bpm) and feature a prominent semitone interval. But that's pretty much where the similarities end.
These two songs are in completely different keys, State of Grace being in F# minor and The General being in D minor, while also having completely different rhythmic structures.
It's just a tiring discussion to read through and I hope this can in some way quell the doubt that these songs are in any way the same.
D Minor, of course, being the saddest of all keys.

For the record, I'm not debating on whether the track list is real (I think it probably is). What I'm debating is whether it was shared in public before 2019 (like I said, there's no way to know if it was shared via PM's, for example, so I would have to take the people who say they had seen it, some of whom I trust, at their word) and I'm sure that it wasn't. I have dug deep into the forums and the only thing I have found that was shared in public was this (which was merely the titles mentioned in the video):
Considering you have already proved me incorrect today, well I'm glad I'm not going that mad as you did indeed post the video I was referring to, I have also definitely seen this list years ago and I think it was on GNREvo as the post you have shared, but not in that thread only. Again, happy to be proved incorrect but have definitely seen the list a long time ago. Remember it looking legit but also questioning the Heaven's Door piece (which was then proved correct with Village Leaks)
Ultimately now with a lot of items being leaked in 2019, I think this does give further credence to MSL's claims of having a ton of emails from that time period too. Fingers crossed some day we get to see those too.

Here is the video (you have to wait a bit until it loads). No mention of Perhaps.
The screenshot of the alleged email containing the track list has been shared many times since 2019 (even earlier in this thread) - I haven't found any evidence that it circulated publicly before the 2019 leaks:
Thanks @Blackstar, I think I may run any contentious statement I make by you before I post as you genuinely know everything!
Having said that, it's amazing how much memory I have for what is ultimately useless knowledge - a random video from like 12 years ago online

I'm pretty sure, that he didn't mention "perhaps" as a song. But he listed songs like Cuban skies, Tonto and light my fire for the first time. Wasn't that in the famous "carebear video"? 😅
You’re absolutely right about Tonto, Cuban Skies, Light My Fire being mentioned, I remember that vividly. Can’t say with 100% certainty that Perhaps was mentioned but I think it was. Either way, do think that supposed leaked list of titles was legit, but do also agree with the general discourse here that as that was the first time Perhaps had been mentioned it wasn’t completely certain to be a song title.

I don't have screenshots from 10+ years ago but I'm pretty sure Perhaps was on there. Cuban Skies was the song that was most hyped up, Tonto got a decent amount of attention because Richard had a song on his site (or myspace or something?) with the same title, and I'm pretty sure Perhaps was mentioned but most people assumed it was 'perhaps also these songs...' and not an actual song title.
Pretty sure Perhaps was on there and I’m sure there was a video of MSL himself reeling off the song titles.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m horribly anxious to finally listen to The General, but I think it’s gonna be very bittersweet. Of course there’s Soulmonster, Oklahoma etc left, but with the history this fanbase has with the unheard songs, it truly feels like the ChiDem era finally will be bookended come Friday.
What’s next? We have nothing that we know of on the horizon in regards to post-reunion new material. After hearing Atlas, Hardskool, Perhaps, all of the locker CD’s and soon The General, it kind of feels like the final stop of a long journey. A part of me is kind of going to miss the mystery!
Yeah I understand what you mean. Whilst others have pointed out there are still other songs the fans are dying to hear, The General is the most mythologised one and considering it's been 15 years since the release of CD the fact that there hasn't been even one intelligible second of this song that has leaked is astounding. Bring on Friday!

Just talked to him. Very sweet and egimatic. For the guy who wanted me to ask about his strings, he said he still uses Ernie Ball and probably always will. I asked about his solo album and he said it's not in the works anymore as he's busy w/ Eyes Out. It's up to an 18 person team, he said. The site prevented recording, but some host chick who chimed in offered to take a screenshot for me. I declined because that sounded lame as fuck, so we talked the New Year's show from 2001 for the rest of the convo. He perked up when I brought up those shows and he said those were "exciting, exciting times"
17 hours ago, Voodoochild said:That’s a bummer. I was hoping to hear a solo album from him. Thanks for the info.
Seconded - was really looking forward to hearing his solo album! Crazy to think this is the first official update on his solo album since the Ultimate Guitar interview almost 10 years ago. Seems like working on Axl has time has rubbed off on him
Glad you were able to speak to him, @parisrocks, I've always got the impression he's a lovely chap.

Yeah good point - considering I've been on the forum for almost 20 years, been through the deafening silence along with leaks and eventual CD release, you'd think I'd know better than to expect common sense from this place

Quite amazed people are thinking it's a separate track - to me it's clear that's the "full" name that has been submitted.

At the risk of jinxing this, surely if there was a delay it would've been announced more than a week away from shipping date, no?

The German Store (de.gnrmerch.com) says, release and shipping November 3rd. Any news about this?
Just to confirm you are talking about the vinyl right? I've checked my order from the UK store and still showing as release date of 27th Oct.

Wonder what T&Cs there are.
Would be pretty awkward if you paid for $15 mins and he says he can’t/doesn’t want to talk about CD

Is this definitely the Slash/Duff version? I don’t get Slash vibes from it.
Absolutely love Monsters!
