New Guns N' Roses music doesn't matter to most people so I doubt it leaks until after the vinyl ships out.

At best, maybe they accidentally ship them earlier than the 27th.

Yeah I wonder if calling it a B-side was also to completely low-ball its importance in terms of leaks. Agree on the point that new GNR music doesn’t matter to most people, and even to people it does matter to it’s an absolute fraction of that for people on this board, so maybe it’s a tactic to downplay significance to avoid it leaking.

Ask him straight out, did he play on the OG version of the general? (And how long was that version in running time?) An will it be butchered with duff an slash recording over it, like the rest of the recent songs have been.

Yeah I think these are the questions that right now I would be fascinated to ask, especially the latter!

The 9 mixes leaked in 2008 were of demos mixed years prior, my guess is they are from 2003, give or take a year. So they sat around for a while before they came to light.

Oh no doubt, I definitely think if anything does leak, it will be from the early-mid 2000s. Complete speculation, of course.

If this happens and it’s a demo with the CD lineup, I think I might try to avoid it until I listen to the official release.

100% agree. If a demo was leaked with no official release in sight I’d immediately listen, but we’re so close!

@Sweersa also just to clarify, I don’t have any sort of info, I’m just thinking back in time - Mike Piazza leaks, Skwerl, MSL Chicken Dinner, Village sessions etc, they’ve always leaked relatively (in context) close to an official release

    A 2 song EP?

Since some people apparently don't know what an EP is:

An extended play (EP) is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but fewer than an album or LP record. Contemporary EPs generally contain four to five tracks, and are considered "less expensive and time-consuming" for an artist to produce than an album.

Haha thank you for the definition - fully aware of what an EP is!

Don't think marketing execs would be too happy with advertising it as "New GN'R 2-song EP" when trying to sell something, so rather than getting too bogged down with the definition of an EP, think of what would sell more.

I would love a surprise GN'R album as much as the next person on this board but can't see it coming any time soon.

I didn’t know this either but makes sense now. From my first listen I thought Perhaps sounded closer to that album than the other two singles by miles.

    Absolutely.

Would love to understand the rationale of the final products for HS/Absurd. By the leak from the March 2020 Mexico show soundcheck, we know the arrangement for HS had been completed and likely recorded prior, meaning they had 18 months before it eventually was released to do a decent job on it but it turned out pretty abhorrent, mix wise at least. Perhaps sounded 10x better.

I do not, but years ago I cut out the audible parts and put them together to be able to make some of it out and it was great. Anyone with the Shackler’s multi track could do it. I could make out some pretty killer Bucket licks.

That's cool, OK, I thought you meant something else, my bad, it's late in the day, I need some caffeine.........

Also it was so inaudible within the mix you couldn't truly make out a full structure for it, so don't get your hopes up too much!

I don’t understand was the problem with Hard Skool mixing. People said that Chinese Democracy has a great mixing and I can’t hear the bass in its songs.

When people are talking about the mixing they are looking at it holistically. The mix on CD is generally great; no doubt there are small and specific issues, like the reduction in bass level which is very noticeable when comparing to village leaks. However, the whole mix for HS is poor as illustrated with the audacity compression stems.

  9. Quite interesting watching developments in this topic...

Personally I'm staying away from speculation until it's actually released and knowing that there is a definitive date with a physical media, which means in theory that it's either already been pressed or in the process of pressing, the chances of a "plans changed" moment are quite slim.

Having said that, I think the speculation here of it being an instrumental are quite strange considering we have a number of sources verifying that Axl had indeed recorded vocals. Now, we have seen from the official releases of other CD-era songs that the chances of a new vocal track are slim, but if the vocals are already laid down why would they be removed? Bizarre.

As long as there actually is a digital release (I'd be quite amazed if there wasn't) I will do my absolute best to avoid any sort of leak ahead of the day. Can't believe this will be the first time I'm hearing a completely fresh GN'R song in 15 years! Bring it on!

The band introductions were so cheesy. I seem to remember GnR blaming Lars Ulrich for it not being released? Something like that

That’s right - they were waiting for his sign off, which I remember seemed ridiculous at the time, but makes sense when you see that him in the video is being escorted out blind drunk by Sebastian Bach haha
