The only issue with RHCP shows is that they play for about 1 hour 45 minutes... they could easily just do a greatest hits set, which is probably what most people at a stadium show expect, but it's nice to see a real band at that level changing their setlist every night and continuing to debut new songs.
Yeah agree with this, only gripe is the length of the show. Think if you’re paying £100+ for a stadium show you should get a 2hr headline set.

Really interesting and props to the guy for being a great storyteller! Great job Brando.

I almost have this terrible feeling that when the veil is finally lifted, the amount of work Axl completed in all these years will be shockingly low. I hope to God I’m wrong but until proven otherwise, I’m maintaining the most conservative of estimates.
Honestly the more time that passes the more I give credence to this school of thought. The village sessions were basically my holy grail but turned out to be essentially a half baked draft of the Chinese Democracy project. The release of Absurd and Hard Skool (using vocal elements from Eye On You) only enhances the credibility of this hypothesis.

Echoing what people before me are saying - they will get absolutely torn to shreds.
I was at Reading in 2010 and Axl sounded stunning yet he was destroyed in the press. Add on 13 years and significant vocal decline and you have a recipe for disaster.

Every man and their dog seems to have uploaded the concert film onto THE video website and none have been pulled. What gives?

Wondering if the price-point and full-release format was less of a band decision and more of a label one? Could be a slight "wink wink" to the fans where they keep it up for a week or so so anyone that wants to watch it can, before they are "forced" to pull it. Maybe I'm too optimistic but considering everything gets pulled immediately and this is still up, I feel slightly intentional. On that note, I've been firmly in the camp that the leaks in 2006 to a degree were intentional.

God I hope they release this Blu-ray separately.

FYI there is a preview screening of the Ritz 91 video in Paris at the Hard Rock Cafe on November 8.
How did you find this out? Really want to know if there will be something similar in London…

On one hand, you have AC/DC basically reduced to rubble - for a lot of people Mal's departure alone was too much to stomach. Then you add on Phil going off the deep end and being booted from the band. Then, when things have finally somewhat stabilized, mid-tour you've got Brian suddenly dropping out. Of the classic lineup, that left Angus and Cliff - that's hardly AC/DC in most people's eyes, even with Slade and Stevie being alumni as it was. On the other hand, Axl does still have a reputation and there's a lot of people that vehemently hate him and anything he does based on his actions and attitude a long time ago. Of course these people are totally ignorant of the fact that GN'R has not been doing the late starts or storming off stage for a long time now, but these people seem incapable of being impartial about Axl actually performing really well. Think of it as a Venn diagram - one bulb is people who are purist about AC/DC and the other bubble is the people who absolutely hate Axl, then you've got the crossover in the middle. These people don't care that Axl sounded the best he has since the 90's, these people don't care that AC/DC played the longest sets of their entire career, and these people certainly don't care that the band was reviving songs not played in 35+ years (Or in one instance, ever) because in their eyes it wasn't AC/DC and/or because they were doing it with a lead singer that they hate.
Perfectly put - and surely it's one that members of this forum should be able to understand more than most. I'm sure the forum would collectively lose it's shit if Axl had to step out mid-tour and they continued with Myles Kennedy. I know personally I wouldn't attend and would already have a chip on my shoulder about it regardless of how well he actually did. As I mentioned in a previous comment, selfishly I'm so happy that because of this change I was able to firstly get a ticket (because of loads of refunds!) and secondly see my hero absolutely smash it out of the park, but I totally understand issues from AC/DC fans perspectives. I actually had a couple of AC/DC fans stop me in the stadium because at the point of Axl/DC London, there had only been a few of the GN'R reunion shows and all had been internationally (I was wearing my GNR Reunion Vegas shows) and I told them how I was so nervous beforehand as I thought if he sang like he had been up to at that point he would be destroyed, but that videos I had seen from the first show in Portugal had far surpassed my expectations.

Hard not to feel for the guy but from an incredibly selfish perspective, I’m eternally grateful that for a short spell of time we got to Axl firing on all cylinders. Axl/DC was the greatest live show I’ve ever seen.

Download wouldn't surprise me either being the 20th anniversary of it
Agree but think it'll be Glasto (if any). Rumours for Download are Metallica for 2 nights. Motley/Def Leppard was one of my other guesses but they just released their tour dates for 2023 and there's no room.

Before to the CD release, has anyone heard of Scraped? Shacklers? This I Love If The World? No, Nobody's heard of it, so I have my convictions that he recorded dozens of songs, with vocals like Goin Down, Blood In The Water, a remake of Oh My God, so I believe they recorded enough material and mixed it for at least two complete albums with 12 or 14 songs each. this is a reality
I agree with your point overall, but for the sake of accuracy This I Love and If The World had been talked about previously. Shackler’s hadn’t but was the first ‘surprise’ track because of its inclusion in Rock Band 2 which was released 1-2 months before the album.

I don't mean to sound cynical, but there is a chance that song was only released because there are just not that many songs with vocals. It's literally bottom of the barrel and we know from 2002 it was at least considered for CD - and it sucked then. There isn't a lot of evidence there are more songs with Axl on them. We were told CITR and Riad wouldn't be on CD, but they made it on there probably in part because there wasn't a lot to choose from. I'm guessing the leftover songs from the Village sessions are it outside of a few random songs. He said he recorded Soul Monster's vocals on Xmas eve before CD came out. He also said the band hadn't recorded for sometime around 2001 or 02.
They may have wanted to save Atlas, Perhaps and the more flushed out songs for an actual EP or release. The perfectionist talk from Axl was more so probably having Buckethead do the same solo 20 times or Brain recreating someone else's drums to a tee, less about his own contributions. Maybe there are a few more songs. We know he recorded more vocals for the CD remixes and there is a poor cellphone quality recording of the General that I think has vocals on it. So we know there is at least some more outside of the Village, but it can't be that much more.. else they'd have released something or something would have leaked.
That's my two cents at least. Absurd was released because of the four or five songs left, it made more sense to get the turd out of the way first.
While I think there is some credence to what you’re saying, the counter that I used is that Scraped was a complete surprise when CD actually came out. In no interview had that song title ever been mentioned, so it is possible there is other stuff that has been recorded.

Wonder if by history he just means unleaked song. Not necessarily unknown but unheard to it’s fullest extent
Yeah I’m thinking similarly, I’m not sure his comments are confirmation that it was being worked on before he left the band in ‘96.

They want this record out to cement their legacies within GNR believe me. I don’t care if Paul Huge has a credit on every single track, you can bet they’re all in on getting it out.
I can’t imagine CDII would fulfil them artistically…

Apologies if this has been asked/answered - is there any indication that the Blurays will be sold separately? In all honesty I don't think i'll be shelling out for the entire thing but I absolutely would buy the Bluray solus.

Yeah no way November Rain has been re-recorded.

I'm pretty sure that was just a suggestion from a user. There was nothing in the 2001 magazine article or on the Village discs that implied that, and those are the only references to PRL we've ever gotten.
Ah ok thanks for that - I took it as gospel!

God I forgot how much I hated Ashba’s sparkly black Les Paul
Really great to hear Axl sounding imperious again though!
