  1. Tracii: Hey man, I got this idea.
    Axl: Yeah?
Tracii: I mean, we’ve been discussing the name, right?
    Axl: Right.
Tracii: So – and bear with me on this one – what if, you know, what if we just join our names?
    Axl: What?
Tracii: Well, I’m Guns. An unusual surname, that’s for sure. And you’re Rose now, aren’t you.
    Axl: Yep.
Tracii: So how about Guns and Rose?
Axl: Hmm. That doesn’t sound entirely off, but I feel like there’s something missing.
Tracii: Maybe, maybe, but I think it’s a good idea.
Axl: You know what would sound even better?
    Tracii: What?
Axl: Guns and Roses. And we’ll style it 'Guns N' Roses'.
Tracii: You know what, that sounds pretty fucking cool.
    Axl: You mean effin' cool.
Tracii: No, that woke shit ain’t here yet. You’re looking to the future too much once again. Oops, sorry, fourth wall.
Axl: Ok, whatever. But will people take us seriously? I mean, I have this couple of tunes about my exes and booze and whatnot, but I don’t know man.
Tracii: Hey, I feel it’ll be a blast. Can you imagine walking into a guitar shop and seeing a sign saying that playing certain songs is absolutely prohibited, and next to Stairway to Heaven, there’s a Guns N' Roses tune?
Axl: Sounds sci-fi, but yeah, that would be awesome. Imagine selling out a stadium with like fifty thousand people or something.
Tracii: Yeah, unlikely. A man can still dream, though. A man can still dream.
    Axl: Cheers to that.

To be an opener the has to be a faster song like Nightrain, jungle, easy, etc

Personally, I'd like to see them open with Get In The Ring even if it was only once.

Only this time flipping off tiktokers, YT bootleggers, and various downloading motherfuckers and disgruntled forum nutters who constantly complain (i.e. us).

    Leak my shit, motherfucker
    Upload phone vids, motherfucker
And I’ll sue your bitchy little ass!
    Punk! (as fuck)

  3. 1) 07.08.91 - Starplex Amphitheatre, Dallas, TX
The first show after St. Louis; we have a few snippets, they opened with Perfect Crime, Axl was absolutely feral.
Plus all UYI shows that were recorded.

    2) Anything they did in the 90s before Slash left

    3) The General or really anything from the mysterious CD sessions

Not sure why gayness was brought into the conversation as it has nothing to do with gross income generated via touring or ticket sales. Why even mention Elton John in the first instance if you lack the knowledge on the man himself or his music. You do know that Elton John and Bernie Taupin are greatly admired by Axl including on the song writing front and in fact, both have a very similar writing structure that can be heard in Elton John and Bernie Taupin songs as, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and I've Seen That Movie Too with strong elements crossing over into November Rain, Breakdown and Street of Dreams via the piano playing.

You mention that you aren't dissing Elton John, then proceed to do exactly that because of your ignorance..

There are a number of artists on those lists that you could question as  being "such a big thing"  but Elton John is not one of them...

I can question whoever the hell I want, thank you very much. After all, if I look at today's charts... I'll save my breath.

Then say you like him more. No objection to that, as that is purely subjective. To say Adams is better than John, especially based on a limited knowledge of boths catalog is idiotic.

Again, I know a few songs from both and simply prefer the one to the other. Whether I say I like him more or that he’s way better in my opinion – what difference does it make? Anything we say on this forum is subjective anyway.
When I say one artist/album/song/guitarist/line/version/drum sound +1dB/whatever is better, it always implies that’s my opinion, doesn’t it? You’re just splitting hairs.

To say that Bryan Adams is 100x better than Elton John is ridiculous. No matter what criteria you use. Especially, when you don't even know his catalog it's not only ridiculous, it's also idiotic.

I was merely expressing my opinion as to what I like more. Maybe not 100x - we tend to use figures of speech and hyperboles, don't we - but I still do, and I don't know more songs from B. A. than I do from E. J., meaning I know about the same amount from these catalogues, and simply prefer one to the other. Ergo nothing idiotic about it, as long as one doesn't assume things.

Nah, there isn't much room to complain about GnR in that section...

    ...I'll get my coat

DUDE, I’ve already told you to go fuck yourself. I’ve already told you that you only focus on the negative. Numerous times. Yet I’m the one who "doesn’t understand" and who "keeps repeating the same shit over and over", even though it’s exactly the other way round. I’ve already told you to look up the expression "irony". I'm really tired of you, and you've taken away from me some small amount of joy of visiting this place.
@janrichmondhas clearly said you should put me on ignore or just ignore my posts, as well as of any other people who are not to your liking, instead of your unsolicited police work here. Btw I’m not gonna do the same, since a) I don’t react to your posts anymore, b) I want to be aware if there is some fanatical stalker obsessed with me, following me around.
If you keep doing this shit, you’re violating this forum’s policy. If you wanna get yourself banned, keep doing what you’re doing.
In the meantime, I strongly recommend that you seek help, ideally a psychotherapist; if that doesn’t help, see a regular shrink.
Good luck and please, for the last time, ignore me, and don’t react to me indirectly either. Don't mention me, don't talk about me, don't think about me, ignore me, forget that I exist and stick to something else.

Fantastic songwriting with a unique flair for style.  I would put "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Honky Chateau", "Tumbleweed Connection", and "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" among the rest of the greatest albums from the '70s

Not a big fan, but if you grew up in the 70s 80s 90s Elton was on the radio with some catchy songs. If you look at his back catalogue its mental how much great stuff he and Bernie Taupin have written together. Some of it is just epic and can’t be denied as anything else. Even if you don’t like Tiny Dancer, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Rocket Man or other tunes like them they’re on another level.

As I suspected, I don’t seem to know his catalogue very much (almost at all). I guess Made in England, Rocket Man and the likes from the radio isn’t enough. :)

With that you really lose all credibilty.

I was talking about what I’ve heard (and liked more) so far, see above. And as has been said, taste is subjective. There are e.g. people who'd tell you CD is better than AfD. Now how do we wrap our heads around that! You'd say that's different - same band, same genre. I'd say it's neither the same band nor the same genre, so it's not that crazy of a comparison. So, it's all subjective.

Although I'm not a fan, what he did with the piano was innovative and he was influential in all that prog rock/glam pop-rock scene in the 70s. He's more on the pop side (in the sense of they way some of the Beatles stuff was), so his songs are more easy listening and "radio" than Bowie, for example, but regardless of whether he's someone's cup of tea or not, objectively the level of songwriting can't be compared to someone like Bryan Adams.

Idk I guess I don’t know his catalogue enough, but from what I’ve heard (and he is played on rock radios sufficiently), I haven’t found anything specific that would sort of make me see the big thing about him. Those hits aren’t that huge, nothing too breathtaking about the piano that I could discern (not that I focused), and he doesn’t even have a distinctive voice (unlike Adams or Springsteen). Maybe it’ just not my thing, but I don’t see anything specifically awesome about him to justify this kind of hype. I guess this is just one of the "you’d have had to been there" type of things. Right place, right time. Oh well.

  10. Why has Elton been such a big thing? What did he bring to the table? Not dissing, just wondering.

I know we can't apply the same to today's charts, cause those are just full of non-musical pop shit like Kanye, and certain times are forever gone. But look a the other artists from Elton's era - the Stones, Springsteen... that all makes sense. But what is it about this Elton character? Just the gayness and probably massive support in England? One or two hits? I mean, Bryan Adams is 100x better and he's nowhere near there.

it's just a hard rock band with a frontman that prefers to keep his fans in the dark and almost never release product. It's not a cult. Discussing Gn'R is one of my hobbies at this point. There's really not anything negative about it if you take it for what it is which is music/entertainment.

we don't know Axl personally, what he had to go through like every person has to go through some shit and maybe he chose a way to deal with his pain and isolation which might seem weird to you/us but we don't know, maybe it helps him to keep it together and I think he's smart enough and with a firm enough of a grasp on reality that if he wouln't be satisfied with Beta and Fernando's attitude and work, he would tell them off or fire them, something that would make them behave in a way which he thinks if fair and takes care of his interests.

people like that who come from nothing, with that type of temper and family history are not push overs so my guess is the lifestyle Axl leads is totally his choice. Very different from shit like Scientologyo or religious fundamentalism imo.

Dude, don't take it so seriously, it's just messing about. ;)

  12. Well there are quite some parallels between GNR hard-core fandom and religious fundamentalism, aren’t there.
We believe in stuff that either never appears or arrives too late and doesn’t seem to be quite what was expected anyway.
We talk at length about stuff that nobody else has ever heard of and quite often probably doesn’t understand.
We are here every day, expecting our lord to finally smile down at us – same as when you’re in the first row at a gig.
We strongly believe... this time it must happen... it would be logical to release it now... this one is better than the old one... thank you for taking by take care of us...
The team gives strong vibes of a closed cult – Fernando, Beta and all the rest. Seeing a video of them and Axl just walking on the street is like... rapture, ecstasy.
He’s a hermit and when he does appear somewhere, people fucking pay attention; same when he speaks publicly, literally to his followers. He's often tackled themes he hasn’t been formally educated in, and people listen religiously, devoutly.
Nobody else really speaks out in terms of what’s happening inside and behind the curtain; only a selected few (not very likable) public speakers from amongst them are allowed to do that, unless he himself chooses to open up once in a blue moon.
    I could go on.

I'm losing faith in this actually coming out, it would have been announced by now surely if its release date was to coincide with UYI. Maybe putting together all UYI things is a bigger mammoth task than they thought, and with this bands legendarily awful management, of course they are overwhelmed.

Considering the AfD thing was a year late, why shouldn't the UYI box be e.g. two years late? It's GN'R after all...
