It means the band has vitality. The only people I hear say the band are a nostalgic band are forum members here.

The only people I hear say *anything* about the band is here. I’m excited to see them this summer, but it’s okay to acknowledge what they are at this point.

Also - aren’t there a million and a half threads to discuss the identity of this band? Can’t we just keep this thread on topic?

I just emailed the writer of the Mpls Startribune music critic who wrote article that wrote Target Field representatives confirmed the Guns N' Roses and Green Day concerts will roll over to 2022”?.

I'll let ya know if/what he says.  I asked for clarification/more info on that.

Just realized they were wrong about Green Day. Interesting.

  3. Another major concert announced at MetLife in August. If GnR doesn’t happen, it will be tough to point to any other reason besides complete lack of interest.

One wild theory I have: maybe LiveNation and the venues see an upside in a partially attended show, where they can test out different procedures without dealing with max capacity.

Well maybe these "Target Field representatives" were right all along.  The Mpls show is in 50 days and zero talk here in town (no radio commercials/no morning radio show chat pumping it/no ticket contests or giveaways/no print media/total crickets).  And the stadium is about 85% unsold.

It really makes me wonder what would have happened if there was no pandemic. What was their plan?

Now they can just blame the miserable sales on the pandemic.

I agree with you. I saw GNR several times on the never-ending NITL tour. It got a little boring after a while. A new album would be great. A new setlist would be cool. That said, after basically being home for 15 months now, you better believe if they play MetLife in August I will be there, tailgating beforehand, having a few beers during the show, and enjoying the hell out of whatever they decide to play. (Even "The Seeker").

Edited to add... I bet if they promoted these shows as "live music is back!", you'd sell out the stadiums easily with people similarly eager to party like its 2019

That’s the thing. Ticket sales were poor prior to the pandemic, not because of the pandemic. The problem now is that public health, local guidelines and restrictions have been in such a state of flux that it’s not giving LiveNation the confidence or time to promote these shows.

If they put some money into advertising these shows, and gave people confidence that they will happen, I think they’d be able to fill stadiums to a profitable level. People are starved for live entertainment.

It's amazing to think so many of you still think it's about a new album or music being played at a live show.

America has and is still going through a pandemic that has killed millions of people.

Things will never be the same.. regardless of a new album or song being played.

Sometimes when you’re surrounded by shitty stuff you put a lot of hope into things that bring you joy. Like music.

What’s the point in the masks, social distancing, vaccines, etc. if it doesn’t end with me waiting in a beer line while Axl sings The Seeker?

I stand corrected. I wonder if they are booking new shows to compensate for the dates that are still going to be missed.

So the tour is kicking off in DC? We are 100% sure Wisconsin will still be in lockdown?

Wisconsin show is part of a larger festival called Summerfest. It’s a big deal in Milwaukee. That entire festival was moved to September. GnR hasn’t updated their site, and the fest hasn’t announced a new date for them; so it’s assumed it will get moved...either to September or 2022.

Still don't believe it and won't until it's confirmed on official GNR social media.

What’s there to believe? It’s the official Festival account posting the lineup. GnR isn’t exactly known for their responsive social media.

This is 100% official my man.

edit: are you referring to the tour as a whole? Then ya; this new date doesn’t confirm the others are happening.

There's no way they're performing a scattered mess of dates across the US in lieu of a fully functional normal tour next year. They did that in Mexico in March 2020 but only because the venue wouldn't cancel the date. They won't want to release an album then wait a year to tour it in Europe. And they aren't going to release an album in 2022 without touring the states. Expect this tour to be rescheduled to July/August 2022 shortly (aka whenever Fermanager gets around to it).

Personally, I don’t think an album factors in at all. You may be right about not wanting to do scattered dates though. I guess only time will tell.

When should we expect a tour cancellation/rescheduling if this isn't happening? I wouldn't be surprised if Fermanager waited until the week before or less.

Motley Crue cancelled theirs a month out, think we could expect as late as that for GnR.

Each day that passes without a cancellation increases the odds. That said, an announcement for Milwaukee is guaranteed, and one for Toronto and MN are likely.

I assumed @Original's post was referring to GNR not MC?

Ya, he was referring to the Motley Crue Stadium Tour, which had a start date of June 19. GnR has a start date of July 13 in DC, where the mayor has announced concerts can proceed at full capacity beginning June 11.

GnR shows are on, as of now. Changes to the dates are highly likely, but several shows CAN happen if you look at them individually.

    LOL. I told you people.

Told us what? MC’s tour was set to start a whole month earlier, different situation.

Many states are opening back up well in advance of the GnR dates. I don’t think GnR dates are a lock or anything, but people kept saying they were impossible. A limited tour is absolutely possible.

Yeah they'd be a good call! I don't like them but I watched their stream from RIR and they were fucking class!! Only problem with them is they'd probably steal the show... and they'd cost a lot more than the Smashing Pumkins.

When you think about it, this is a great opportunity for any band to get on a major ticket for the first round of shows in the US (should they proceed).

I’d imagine bands are fighting for the primo venues since no one has toured in 15+ months. Hopefully GnR can snag an exciting opener.
