  1. It is creepy as hell for a 50+ year old man to refer to a 50+ woman as "mother"

Let's think about the situation a little more clearly, though. In the midst of the moment, he needed grounds to kick the fuck out of somebody. What do you think would give you more leeway in everyone else's eyes that was standing around? "He hit my assistant!!" or the mother option? Haha I'd probably have said "mother," too.

Huh ? I think I would say 'He hit Beta.' Or: 'He hit my friend.' Why on earth would you yell 'He hit my mother' if that's not what you call her, especially in the midst of the moment? It would find it really awkward if a friend came to my defense yelling 'He hit my mother.' I think you're kind of twisting it here.

Bagh, I don't know man. Look, Harold Ramis died today. Today sucks. Whatever the hell happened in the airport, I can tell you this: the entire situation might have been a HELL of a lot better had Egon Spengler showed up and busted the fuck out of everyone who was trying to accost GN'R. And by "bust," I'm not talking about the kind of punch that Axl threw at the guy, or even at Tommy Hilfiger. I'm talking about using a proton accelerator. A straight, clean stream with total protonic reversal. Boom.

Okay, that shut me up. Condolences and RIP Harold Ramis. :shrugs:

  3. Its not the first time she has been referred to as mother.

Put it this way, I'm 31. I have a friend thats 36. Lets just say we had the same relationship as Axl and Beta....if I started calling her mother that WOULD be creepy as fuck no matter what anyone says.

I'm 37. If my friend that's 30 would call me mother, I would be seriuosly annoyed/offended. (Except maybe if he'd support me and my extended family and let me live a life in luxury. Then he could call me whatever he liked ;) )

  4. I have traversed a treacherous sea of horrors to be with you here tonight

Gotta love that though...and i mean it in the least piss taking sense :) Just the language of it is beautiful, like fuckin' Alexander coming back, having conquered the fuckin' world or something, beautiful, love it. The sting of it is removed somewhat though by the fact that we all know he was at home the whole time watching telly and eating all the pies out of the pantry  Still, sounds brilliant, doesn't it, 'traversed a sea of horrors', brilliant :)

It's true. Axl loves a bit of drama. It is a brilliant quote, and I hope to use it myself someday. (Arriving late at a party because of the traffic, for example  )

  5. I think the response to CD crushed his confidence and now he's scared shitless to release anything new.

I think/fear this ^^^ is true; but I do hope this is true:

I think it has to do with him saying he was going to deliver an album over a decade ago and couldn't. I think he just wants the music to be ready to go and not have anyone disputing what he wants to put out this time. I think he'll get more support this time around, but the days of extravagant studio time are over.

    Doesn't seem likely though :(

  6. Proof there that he has no wig, still has his attitude & can still move like the best of them, he had a fucked up family, i have no problem with him referring to Beta as his mother tbh.

If he doesnt fight with a paparazzi a tour,we are fucked. He did in 2010 and was a superb tour

In 2006 he was in a fight with a security guard and it was a much better tour. Maybe we can have him fight mike tyson and the tour will be even more awesome.
Lol when he bit the security guard in Ireland on the ass hahaha.

I think it was Sweden where he bit the security guard.

This video makes me a bit sad, to be honest.

  7. Full cream Sri Lankan milk. Like drinking Ice cream.

Milk is a proven way to cool your mouth after spicy food.

    That's actually not true.

Alcohol however, IS scientifically proven to deactivate the chemical in spicy food.

Going on about cooling your mouth from chilli once you finish eating = stone cold hooray for tolerance!ry.

And alcohol makes shit way hotter. Fact.

One more try: I think it's actually bread that cools your mouth after spicy food. (I must admit I've never tried milk before, but I know water and alcohol make it worse.)

  8. I've never heard of this at all, but I don't think it's about the actual song "Jackie Chan". Unless, 'Jackie Chan' is the song Axl had planned for this, and that's why it's still under that working title.

Verrry interesting. This could definitely be why they refer to Checkmate as "Jackie Chan". Odds are it's that song, whatever the hell it's actually called. Had no idea a version was recorded with Slash, though.

Too bad we'll never know, since Axl has no interest whatsoever in releasing new material.

I thought Axl said in his chats here Checkmate was a bogus title and the working title was Jackie Chan.

  9. I'm 37. I don't feel physically old, but in my eyes, 37 IS old :( Or at least, it sounds old.

I think it's awful I can say things like: '25 years ago I was bla bla bla...' That's terrible! But I thought 22 sounded old fifteen years ago. So, yeah...

  10. I have always been a big bootleg guy. Have them from 1986, right through 2012.

On the most recent ones, he just does not sound good. There is literally no other way to put it. There is no power behind his voice and he often sounds a bit out of puff. That's not "hating", that's reality.

All that gets me is people like Ali telling me that he was as awesome as can be and I'm mistaken.

Say what? How do you combat that? Is almost like someone telling you its not hot when its 97 degrees outside, and they aren't sure where you are getting this "hot" talk.

 I visit HTGTH occasionally and I find your discussions with Jarmo rather entertaining. Kudos to you both for keeping it up, though. He's never gonna budge or say something that might be considered remotely negative.

Yeah but when he brings you on tour, travel in Axls tour bus and gives you free roam to all areas of the show, sings you happy birthday and lets you wear the ear piece throughout the show.... then you are going to have nothing but love for the guy. Fuck, i'd be worse than Jarmo. :P

True, but everyone needs some tough love from time to time ;)

  12. never ending mass protests, street fights with the police, everyday life surrealism

    33m1o9z.jpg

Things seem to be getting worse there... Are you okay, are you close to the protests ?

    im ok, thanks.

yes i live like 15 minutes from the place where everything is going on

at this point it's not even scary

i mean when one person is dead it's terrifying and devastating... when 20 people are killed and hundreds are wounded by riot police in one day, all you feel is blind rage

I can't even imagine what is going on there... I hope things settle down quickly! Although it doesn't look that way. Stay safe!!

I don't know, in my real world, people just don't talk about GNR. They talk about important stuff, that's why I come here to talk about it ;)

Why is anyone suprised by this? This is what has been said since he brought out the new band 2001. One of the only ways his new band would of been accepted is if he actually released new material in a sensible time scale, but he hasn't, he just tours with whoever is available playing the old hits... so don't be shocked or suprised by these sorta comments..

Not surprised, nor shocked, but it gets old after all these years.
