  1. This has been bugging me for a while... Imitate Slash ? I always felt Slash being totally one with his guitar, his music, almost oblivious of what's around him

Uh, yeah, I'd hate to shatter a childhood illusion here but he was at one with more than just his music at that point my love  What, you think those blues bends were what was making his eyes roll back in his head?

Okay, I know, whatever, but you know what I mean... You agree he was oblivious to what was around him, right ? When I think of Slash, I think of that image. DJ... totally different.

  2. This has been bugging me for a while... Imitate Slash ? I always felt Slash being totally one with his guitar, his music, almost oblivious of what's around him, while DJ is always looking at or interacting with the audience. Also, imagine Slash doing Hogan-ears ? Okay, he has a hat and a guitar, but I think that's about the only thing he has in common with Slash.

OT: I'm not musical, but I don't mind DJ playing. Maybe he's a terrible player, but not to my ears. I think it's nice he is positive about GNR though. I mean: he mentions going to rehearsals, having a good time together, on his FB page he puts a link to tickets for the residency etc... I like that. It gives the impression that they're a real band at least. Maybe that's one of the things I miss the most of the old band. They were a real band and GNR wasn't a side-project, or they weren't doing a zillion things besides GNR. Nowadays I get the impression that we (or some of us) spend more time on GNR than the band does.

  3. I don't mean to hurt anybody's feelings, but you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure out why Axl didn't go.

Because he doesn't want to do a reunion! /derp

And because he didn't want to be put in the situation where he shows up and then is ostensibly forced to play with the old lineup.

Guestion is why was/is it so hard for Axl to do this? Does he hate so much the idea of reunion..Only for one night..for the fans...in my book the guy is crazy and childish bitch LOL There must be so much anger and hate towards Slash that we can't even realize :shrugs:

Let's say he showed up and performed with the old band, just for one night, just for the fans. Would it mean that much to you ? Would that make you happy ? It's an honest question. Would all the fans that want reunion have been satisfied with one night only, just for the fans ? (The fans that want a reunion, that is.)

  4. Unrelated -

Here's a cool picture of Axl and a fan from Beta's page, too:

That's a great picture. Axl looks extremely happy. Thanks for sharing.

Can you imagine taking a vacation, slugging it away in the airport, and Axl Rose walks by you?

My only celebrity airport experience was a few years back a team I coached won a state championship and were traveling to a regional tournament in California and that little midget guy from Jackass was at the LA airport. By himself. My boys went over to talk with him and take pictures. He posed with about 8 of them, but he clearly wasn't very happy or friendly about it. Maybe caught him on a bad day.

Yes, it is a great picture. Always happy to see Axl smiling. In most pictures with fans, he looks bored and annoyed... But this is a really nice picture.

  5. Its all about personal taste ,but for me there is Absolutely NO CONTEST - 2002 or 2006 or now are WAY better than the old days .

I love Buckethead's Solo in Boston 02 but I think the greatest Nightrain ever is Rock AM Ring - Slash couldn't hold a Candle to Bumblefoot even if you set him on fire ! lol

And listen to toAxl at 4.07 in the Rock AM Ring Vid - that is even better than 93 ( IMHO )

    how old are you?

What does age have to do with his personal opinion? I can not understand why people use that as argument.

This is why I asked if it was an age thing: for me personally, the choice is a no brainer. For several other posters too. There's just no comparison. But there are posters who think 2011 is better. So I wonder if it is because I'm biased ? Like xGNRxSTARx said, we were around back in the day and experienced the excitement. When I watch a clip from those days, I feel that excitement again. But if you weren't there, you might see it in a different light. That's why I asked about age.

  6. is this a joke or trolling?

i just woke and I'm on first coffee of the day.

would anyone suggest that the new band plays Nighttrain with guitar solos etc

better than GNR with Slash playing lead?

are anyone of the opinion that it's "better now"?

well,GNR and Slash wrote the song and DJ is covering Slash work in a

way where it's hard to argue that he adds anything or that he plays it better.

again,Slash is miles beyond DJ in pure skills.

    i don't think that's up for debate even.(again,just woke and I'm tired).

No worries, it's almost unanimous, only OP likes the 2011 version better. Good morning! ^_^

  7. No comparison, no contest. Axl ruled the world late 80s, beginning of the 90s, and you can see it, you can feel it. Axl, Slash and Duff together on stage is magic. This is a different time, but that's okay. A lot has happened and he's not 30 anymore, I understand that and I still enjoy GNR today. What I don't understand, is that anyone could pick the 2011 version over the 93 version. Is that an age thing ? I genuinely do not get it.

  8. I've been defriended two times and I hate it. It take it very personally, although I know I shouldn't. :(

I'm sure it's not personal...many times people just delete their accounts and it could seem as if they de-friended you.....other times, people just delete anyone but family members or very close friends, etc....

I know, but I can't help it. I even joke about it now: Okay, I'll be your FB-friend, but you can NEVER EVER defriend me

  9. Always think before you post shit on Facebook. It's that simple. I've had a bit of a personal disagreement with a company that is in turn a customer of the company where I work. I've been furious throughout that situation a number of times. It's tempting to vent on Facebook about it. But I strongly doubt that my boss would like it if I posted things on facebook about how much I hate one of our customers. It's things like that you always need to keep in mind.

I agree. I like FB, but I never post anything work-related or badmouth anyone on FB. Some people really need to think before they post something. A friend of mine fired an employee who called in sick and posted pictures of a drunken party the night before.
