  1. 2020 seems to have brought out a lot more content in this section; I know I have been busy - 6 original tracks and 3 covers so far with another 2 close to be being finished by the end of the year. I have seen how prolific @lame ass security has been in 2020 and we have discussed how we get forum members to listen to our stuff.

Seems to me that there is something for everyone's taste in the eclectic mix of original music that is posted here, which probably never gets heard by the vast majority of the forum.

There was a guy who covered Locomotive a while back that got his cover posted in the Discussion and News section, it would be cool if the content posters in this section could get a "Music of the MyGNR Forum" thread in the Discussion and News section once a year where we all got to post a short bio and a link to a playlist featuring our output for the year.

The new album coming soon thread in D&N depresses the fuck out of me, people still clinging to the hope of new music when right here we have so much cool music that is just going under the radar. Quite a few of the guys who used to post here don't any more, I don't know whether they have moved on or just don't login. Could be a good chance to re-ignite some interest from older users as well!

    What do you guys think?

Really good. The whammy solo sounded very good and unexpected. The production value is very good too, it all sounded crystal clear. Very nice recording. :)

Thanks dude! Whammy is via my stomp with an expression pedal. Glad you like the production, I was having second thoughts about a few elements, before thinking "fuck it"!

Right on! I love the riff you gave it. Snakepit mk 2 vibes! Killer solo. Amazing vocals, as always. Great art too!

(havent been able to safely meet up with my friend to listen to your stuff together. And they insist that is an in person activity! But they gotta hear this!)

Thanks man! This one is a lot less controversial compositionally; I swapped out a D for a B in the chorus bit and added a few heavy riffs/overlays and the ending is a standard blues turnaround, but generally it is pretty faithful.

    Right on! Tear it down!

I meant to post this when this conversation was happening, but me and my friend read your reply together. They were fascinated to learn that the person who did this to the song also agrees with them! And perplexed, but mostly just excited. And they were just tickled that they got to communicate with you, a real musician. So thank you. It was a really cool time that we will remember for years to come. :headbang:

I try and push it as far as I can with the covers; here are some links to previous challenges, there are some really great entries:

Loads of interesting versions of the subject matter in those playlists! Cover Challenge #5 was abandoned due to lack of entrants. Always more than happy to talk to anyone about the music I make, very grateful that anyone takes the time to listen to it with the amount of media this world could consume!

Well, there's tons of other versions a bit like the original song, including Michael Jackson as a kid. It takes some balls to do something like what you did and still sounding great. :)

Thanks buddy, feels like it was a gamble worth taking!

Very cool! My friend is obsessed with the original. We just took a listen together and he’s convinced you have crossed a moral boundary by rearranging it so much! Lol

Hes a very unique fella who sees the world differently then many of us do.

But in the wise words of Axl Rose, regarding rock and roll “at least it’s a reaction”

I for one think it’s dope!

Completely get your friend's take! If I heard my version and it wasn't me that had done it, I would question if it is even a real cover of the song as the only part that (slightly) resembles the original is the start of the breakdown. Glad you're into it though and I am happy I went with it; at the end you can hear how it was originally going to sound, like a heavy faithful version, albeit in a different key. I felt that this was way too "straight" and tore it down!
