Has anyone managed to ask anyone at all from the band yet if Monsters is soul monster? I know everyone has just assumed it 100% is without any corroboration because it is called monsters and has the word soul in it, but there was also monstrosity on those title leaks separate to soul monster. I find it unlikely that this is another song with the word monster in the title, but it doesnt guarantee it is soul monster. Would be good to get something official. fernando or eta on reddit or insta might chat. or fortus insta

I'd say he said it like that because 'the General is Monsters' would have meant nothing to us. His way made sense but is also cryptic and a play on words

It's clear now when Fernando said 'The General is a Monster' he meant what we thought was the general is called monsters. Not that they are two songs. The fact they have played it live initially delighted me but then saddened me that it wasnt followed by or including monsters. The fact they registered it as one track leads me to think they were going to spring a surprise and have monsters after the general on single. But the quality was obviously shit so they have most likely scrapped it and itll just be the general. Which would be a crying shame. Just baffling these songs are 20+ years old and we're only just getting them and still we might not get monsters for another couple of years! madness

It's only acceptable (it isnt, i mean in the tiniest way) if they already have good trust and reputation what they did re this vinyl release. The fact is after 15 years or BS and 15 before that when it came to releasing, hearing from Axl etc means they don't get a pass. If they had an impeccable record of course I;d say you know what, fair enough, everyone makes a mistake and sometimes things aren't perfect. But when that is what happens everytime you don't give them a pass. 95% of the convos on here are about unreleased tracks from 24 years ago, and a chat axl did with the forum 15 years ago. That's not just starvation, that is famine! the reason these 2 things are so constant is because outside of touring the band gives us literally nothing, so every morsel is treated like a 9 course dinner. It's that backing vocal in the higher octave that really makes that bit catchy and haunting for me. When it comes to crafting all round the vocals, backing, oohs, main vocal, highs and lows and echos, Axl is beyond fastidious and normally gets it perfect every time.

Well, unless you believe the tin foil hatters who think TB and Axl leaked these themselves... I have little sympathy for TB or Axl about these leaks. You beat a dog enough eventually it bites back. GnR fans are mistreated and not cared for at all by them, Axl is worth $300m and TB run a management company (poorly) so at least you know, talk to us occasionally or even better, release new music semi regularly when you say you will.

nah, it's the general then monsters. Hence the song is called 'The General and Monsters' the monsters has an obvious song outro, the General sort of ends and hangs on a note and slides into monsters. You're probably not listening to a good version. But it's def not monsters first.

Good songs are timeless. You can argue production wise songs sound dated. Like the first elvis album. Timeless classic, very dated recording an production sound. Even Appetite, classic, but sounds dated because of modern technology and sound systems. But if it's a good song, i honestly couldnt care less if it sounds like it was made in 1955 or 2005 or 2023.

the general/monsters TWAT prostitue madgascar are much more my modern gnr vibe. But i think they still need to do the odd rock song. I'd like an album of 8 minute+ epics. They should do an acoustic album for sure

It's a very good modern gnr rock song, would be happy for more in this vein, but the mix is SOOO loud. if it comes on shuffle it is noticeably louder than everything that came before and after, and it kinda doesn't sit well in that mix. Don't get the hate though.
