I hope the vaccines get out quicker since now with the mutant strain these vaccines are as good at protecting us against it.
The news said kids under 12 won't get a vaccine until late this year or next year. I'm worried about my daughter. I wish she could get it quicker, but maybe if teachers can get vaccinated soon it will help keep the kids safe too.
It's almost a year since this virus and it seems to be going slower now that we actually have a vaccine, but can't get it out quickly. What a mess! Waiting for hours on line to be told they are out, are making many people decide to now bother anymore and that's not a good thing.
Dr. fauci keeps saying get the vaccine and I keep saying "where the fuck is it:"
Okay, I guess not, but it seems to still be one step ahead of us. You have to agree to that.
not sure if your daughter is healthy or not, but if it helps here's a good article talking about how few children have died from Covid https://www.aappublications.org/news/2020/12/29/covid-2million-children-122920
my whole family had covid back in August (kids aged 8 and 3) and the kids and I had absolutely no symptoms. my wife had the equivalent of a sinus infection for 3 days. so in the majority of cases, covid isnt bad. but it's still unsettling for sure.
I have always taken Vitamin D, prebiotic and antioxidants, so perhaps that boosted my immune system to fight Covid off. but who knows for sure?
I work in Healthcare and multiple physicians have told me that obese people are doing the worst with Covid. Could be many reasons for this including lung capacity, comorbidities and poor immune system from bad nutrition.
I got my blood work done at the end of December and still had antibodies. I got the vaccine 2 weeks ago (first dose). no clue how the vaccine will protect against the mutated strains, but I guess we will see. new strains haven't been shown to be any more deadly than the original, correct?

I watched this yesterday. I thought they did really well explaining how his childhood effected his entire life. They mentioned family alot and tied Beta and her family pertaining to how much it means to him and how it changed him. There is not doubt that Axl who came out of hibernation is 100% the opposite the person who went in. It was interesting that they mentioned him going on lithium and how it mellowed him, but he couldnt create, so he stopped taking it. Explains alot of the lack of new music etc
I wonder if he ended up going back on lithium? would explain his better mood, weight gain and lack of new material. not that it matters, because I'm genuinely happy for him if he is happy.

That must be one hell of a hockey league you've got going there.
lol.

we are playing in the Philly area if you are somewhat local. I just played today. have to wear masks though which basically makes it feel like you are being smothered by a pillow the whole time you are skating.

My neighbour said that today
*after
I got the vaccine and felt totally fine. arm was slightly sore, but I still went to the gym that day and day after and was fine.
so people get sick. my friend who is in phenomenal health and 38 yrs old was in bed the whole day following his shot. my mom who is 78 was completely fine following following the shot. so it varies, but all of my coworkers got the shot and were totally fine. so don't be worried- it beats being in the hospital face down in a bed and possibly lying dying all alone. just a few fyi for those who don't know, many (not all) covid patients have to lie face down in order to drain the fluid out of the lungs. it's really uncomfortable. and so is the thought of dying and only being able to say good bye to your loved one via Face Time (assuming you brought your power cord). trust me arm soreness and or a day I bed is MUCH better than the alternative.
one other thing- I had covid back in August and was lucky as I had absolutely no symptoms. a doctor friend of mine (48 years old and healthy) got covid and ended up having a stroke..... so, again, vaccine is probably your better bet than the alternatives that affect a small percentage of the population- which doesn't seem all that bad, unless you are part of that percentage. someone makes up that small percentage and you never know if you will or won't be part of that. better to be safe.

Adler is definitely my favorite GNR drummer. I'd love to get a netflix documentary or show about his life in the 90s. talk about wilderness years. I'd love to know how he took things when the illusions came out. hearing about the GNR riots. even his take on grunge and Kurt Cobain. what was Adler doing through all of that?

Hasn't the latter already happened? I've heard so, not sure if it's confirmed or not.
you are correct. there are new strains now. so covid vaccine will probably be like flu shot- done annually

From what I read in Slash's book the record label was only willing to let him do a tiny tour for the first album and then said they wouldn't do anything else until a new GNR record came out, soon after Slash quit. I don't recall if the two snakepit albums were on the same label so that might have played a role and as others have said rock was on the decline.
they were not on the same label. snakepit 2 was on Koch records which did a terrible job promoting the band.
snakepit 1 would have been bigger with a better singer in 1990. by 95 everyone was unti grunge balls and gangsta rap.

People who refuse the vaccine will end up losing their rights. If people turn the vaccine down because they think bill gates has injected them with a microchip to spy on their mundane existence, then they probably deserve to die.
The rumours are, and these are rumours not facts, that people who refuse the vaccine will not be allowed to attend mass sporting and music events, and people will require a vaccine passport to travel. But either way, Axl won't release a new album so who gives a fuck about seeing GnR live again.
lose rights in what country?

remember a few years ago when Slash went over to Axls house, supposedly to record something? it probably went like this:
Axl: hey Beta is out for a few hours. want to go up to my room and smoke weed? we can get high and prank call Vince Neil? or maybe Stephanie Seymour?
Slash: um, you know everyone has caller ID now, right?
Axl: idk what caller ID is. haven't used a phone without Team Brazil permission since 94.
Slash: I thought you put a recording studio in this place?
Axl: I told Beta my room is a recording studio. she hates music so that's how I managed to keep her out of here. I just spent the money on a flat screen TV and the Friday movies on DVD in every language ever. Did you ever learn how to speak Klingon yet?
Slash: wait. is that other shit head guitar guy here? what's with all of the KFC buckets?
Axl: oh no, UberEats now delivers here. the guy stands outside my room and just throws the buckets up here to me. did you ever meet Chris Pittman? every bucket comes with a towel!
Slash: are we playing today?
Axl: yeah yeah, but first we will watch ever Warren Beatty movie ever and take notes on how stupid he sounds then fax them over to him.
While I have no proof that this is how that day went, I can bet most of us think it's pretty accurate. lol.

just out of curiosity, how many versions of Atlas have been leaked? only version I heard sounded like Axl pulled the instrumental part off an old Nintendo game. I didn't think it was good at all. maybe I didnt hear the right version? Vocals were decent on the version I heard, but that's it.

I'd have a podcast episode just playing Axls rants pausing here and there to get those who were in attendance's two cents on what they, heard, how the crowd reacted etc. I'd love to hear how people in the crowd reacted when Axl talked shit about Nirvana back in the day.....
some of those rants were pure gold imo. would love to also know what Doug Goldstein and others backstage thought about them as well.

I'm not sure I can give up on a band that I have invested so little in. I've been a fan since 92. I bought all 8 of their CDs, and the box set which comes to 9 cds in a out 30 years. I own 2 GNR tshirts. I dont buy any of the toy trucks or any of that crap bc I'm a middle aged dad, and that stuff is kinda silly for me at this point in my life.
I learned my lesson when I waited for Axl to show up in Philly on 2002. I learned a bigger lesson when waiting on Chinese Democracy for a decade.
they dont care about the fans, so I'm not putting any emotion into anything they do. if there is a new album, great. if not, I'll be just fine. based on my 30 yrs as a fan, I'm not counting on them to try to make me happy. They never gave a fuck about me anyway- except for the fact I could pay 500 dollars for 2 NITL tickets. so in all honesty, who cares. I still come on this forum bc they are my favorite band, there can be some really funny comments.....and I need something to do while I take a dump.

That’s a bit harsh - I know Silkworms isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but to say it isn’t music is wrong.....😂
that song is so much more than music... with lyrics like "pussy filled with maggots" I'd consider this to also be a modern day version of Shakespeare. lol

I was under the impression that it was called Jackie Chan bc it was supposed to be on the sound track to a Jackie Chan movie?? i could be wrong on that.
perhaps the name was changed to Hardschool if Jackie Chan trademarked his name.... I mean Axl trade marked his own name, right?

I haven't read through this whole topic but:
#1, the NA dates are still on the website
#2, there is no chance they would play the earlier European dates and then not the later NA dates. Either both go on or both get cancelled
Although the vaccine rollout hasn't started perfectly, there is still a chance that all in the US who wish to be vaccinated can be vaccinated before June assuming the Johnson and Johnson vaccine gets approved soon and starts rolling out in March
Whoever said early in the thread that nobody under 60 will be vaccinated this year is wrong. Leaving out the healthcare providers under 60 who already have been vaccinated, I wouldn't expect people under 60 to have access before April but it will certainly be this year.
you are correct. I'm well under 60 yrs old and was vaccinated today. I'm not a doctor or first responder. so it's happening. how quickly we get to herd immunity is certainly a debatable question

I'm really intrigued with the "I wouldn't call it music"... is Axl writing a movie? or maybe working part time at H and R block? seriously though, what's that about? stupid GNR merch?
and ACDC song should really be easy to write. just a few lyrics about Hell or Rocking, or about to Rock, possible saluting someone, then top it off with a trip back to Hell and you got yourself an ACDC song. boom. done. you are welcome

History repeating itself couldn't be more accurate.
I'm mean, I just feel sorry for Noah. He's just a kid.
great example of those who dont learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
and speaking of repeating history, it looks like another generation of Hudsons will spend their career trying to find their next singer.

I didnt even try to get tickets for any of the US shows bc I dont believe they are going to happen. it took forever to get Ticketmaster to refund me last year, all the while I had to pay interest to my credit card company bc I had a balance on my credit card. things haven't got any better for me financially so I'm not going to waste any more money on credit card interest. perhaps there are others in the boat as well which may contribute to the poor sales
the reality is the US wont acive herd immunity until about 75 percent of the population had been vaccinated. so that's over 200 million people. the 2 vaccines have been out for less than a month and they have immunized 5.9 million people. More vaccines are on their way which will get things moving even faster, but how many people can realistically get a vaccine in a month? even if its 40 million per month, we are talking about nearly 5 months. and the 2 vaccines that are out will take 2 months from the date of the first shot to be fully effective.
so IMO I dont believe there can be a tour until October at best.
if they dont release a new album by then, I would think the only way the tour will generate any demand is bring back the AFD5 and announce they are playing the full AFD album during the show. that might be enough to get the casual fan to go to a show.

sad if that is true about London selling Slashs guitars. I know he and his brother have to split .09 percent of Slashs annual income for the next 20 years which should be much more than any other 20 year old guy makes in a year. so of he is burning through all of that, then hes got a real issue (assuming any of this is true)

You'd think that someone like Slash would know how to keep his son off heavy drugs.
I think you have to be around as a father in order to be there to prevent that.

these guys arent going to be able to recreate what their dads did. it's a different world now. But I think this could make for a good Netflix documentary/ reality show. Rich kids trying to escape their fathers shadows by doing exactly what their dads did in an era where there haven't been any new rocks stars since Kurt Cobain.

it's a matter of personal taste of course, and I don't mean to shit on anyone's preference, but I think Slash never found the right singer for his solo projects/bands. Scott was the most interesting to me and he didn't really have the vocal range but I'm not sure what is worse: bone headed singers that come up with lyrics like "do you like the way I murder your heart" or Myles The Generic and the neverending tepidness.
definetly agree. I remember I bought the 5 o'clock somewhere CD before hearing any of it and was really dissapointed with Eric Dovers voice. my friends I played the CD for told me I wanted my money on that CD. to be clear, I thought the instrumental parts were great but singer and lyrics sucked.
Slashs Bluesball was cool but never meant to be a big band
Snakepit 2 had a bad record label and I guess management sucked too. I remember how hard it was to find Ain't Life Grand in any record store. they had very little publicity and what they were doing wasn't going to get them on any mainstream TV/ radio in the era of Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. I really did like the 2nd album though. But Rod probably wasnt the strongest fit for Slash, but IMO had the best voice (see his solo stuff ie "Better Half")
The "New Album" Thread . The maybe, possibly, at some point, soon, whenever, wtf Axl thread🤞
