Five hour drive but I'm going. My Daughter has never seen GnR and neither of us have ever been to Hershey park so I'm going up Friday and spending all day Saturday in the park before the show. Don't have tickets but I don't think that'll be a problem getting them through Stubhub or at the box office before they start. Wolfie at 7 so I'm thinking Guns from 815 to 11.

I'm doing the same thing.  hershey lodge is a great hotel if you are looking for a room.  water park is great as well.

You're welcome, glad you enjoy it man!

Thanks! Definitely a track to drive fast to!

Maybe we could ask for this to be put in the main section as it's a collaboration between two members, which would get more people hearing it and more opportunities for promotion? I don't really know any of the site staff well though.

let us know how we can support you.  I mean, you could start a thread  saying "two guys who met on this forum a few months ago have released more new music than GNR in the last 12 years".

it would obviously just turn into another complaint thread, but will give more exposure for a few days than the current thread.  idk how stuff works on this site.

thanks bro.  I'll pass this along to a few of my friends who also have the same superior taste in music like me!

  4. the way GNR push their fans away is pathetic.  I remember that they didn't even have a functioning band website for YEARS after the internet became a thing.

@Gambit83 Brando I got a great idea we can use as a case study on how bands SHOULD treat their fans.  start a podcast called "ride the Breitling" that's a podcast dedicated to Metallica and fancy watches (lol I couldn't think of anything that rhymes with lighting)  I'd bet you could get James and Lars on there eventually and they'd probably send you a ton of merchandise and invite you to shows etc.  in otherworlds I bet they would actually appreciate what you do which is what GNR should do with you.

you are doing a great job.  don't stop.

  5. I'd love to learn more about that 95- 97 period of GNR. I always wondered what sings they worked on turned into songs on their solo albums.  I heard Nightcrawler became speed parade.

any ideas as to when slash and izzy wrote Ghost?  I know it came out in 2010 but it could have been written way before that especially bc I think Izzy was mad at Slash for some of the things Slash said in his 2007 book.

how about some of the songs from Duffs unrelated album in 1999?  I'd love to get more insight on this

  6. Stern would give the best interview that would really go into Axls mind set etc.

Rogan would be fun bc they would just get high and talk about tigers or some 3rd party shit that noone cares about and yet for some reason is interesting.

appetite for distortion gets my vote as the source who should interview Axl.  would definitely change some of the feeling that GNR hate their fans if they let a fan interview Axl.

I was at that show.  It was definitely special.  It was also Slash's birthday which was cool.

I was actually at the Philadelphia show at Lincoln Financial Field the week before and I have to say that was an even more special night.  Axl definitely had something to prove after the show cancellation in 2002 and he 100% brought it.  I honestly think it's the best concert I was ever to.  The first time I got to see Axl, Slash and Duff together, Axl sounded fantastic and was incredible all might.  Just a really amazing night. The crowd was intense and passionate all night.  I still get chills thinking about it.

See if you can track down a video of welcome to the jungle from that show

totally agree.  my favorite show ever.  I found a video of wtj on YouTube just now.

there's so a guy who posted the entire show a few years ago but I guess GNR made him take it down.  I tried reaching out to him to see if he'd sell me a DVD but he never responded.

If you're curious, just have a look at ticketmaster and zoom in on the maps. You'll get an idea of how shows are selling, but keep in mind that Ticketmaster often pretend things are 'sold out' in order to try and push tickets at higher prices.

In terms of buying right before, ticketmaster is probably your best bet as they're likely to release all the tickets they pretended were unavailable after being unable to flog them at inflated prices. If you're local to a venue though and looking for a really cheap ticket, might even be an idea to hang around outside and buy one.

Here;s the Dallas one you mentioned for example: looks like loads of availability now, including the pit. https://www.ticketmaster.com/guns-n-roses-2021-tour-dallas-texas-09-01-2021/event/0C005AB8DDFD3F77

how long before the show would you check ticketmaster for tickets that have been released prior to the show?  day before?  day of?  I've had some luck getting non gnr tickets the day before a show (good seats too).  just wondering what your experience has been.

Maybe they are booking available venues to fit in their roster, not much available last minute, with covid.. etc

Looks like a similar size venue in Atlantic City also.

Or it's just a Billboard in Reading for the Hershey show.

it's likely a billboard in Reading for the Hershey show.  last time they played Hershey there were billboards in Reading, Lancaster and most of the larger towns surrounding Hershey.

It is not comparable at all. Back then, we had to rely on magazines; there was no internet, no Twitter, social media. There wasn’t much music on TV (of this sort), people’s imagination ran at full speed. We only had a few videos, if any. The musicians were… more rare to us. Imagine if The Beatles formed today – there’s no way they’d be surrounded by such hysteria like back then. If you wanted to see the show in the 90s, you had to physically go. No YouTube, no Periscopes, or Facebook. When a musician made an interview to address some media bullshit, it was a big deal. There weren’t shitloads of new bands spamming your channels every day with tons of diverse weird music, and us swiping them away, bored. Compare it to dating 30 years ago and Tinder today.
I think the chick with the binoculars in Rio (was it 91 or 01?) sums it all up nicely. Can you imagine this today? Folks will watch close-ups on YouTube instead. We are spoiled, there’s too much of everything, and our attention and minds are shattered by thousands of dull tidbits from celebrities as well as by other information spam from the internet.
Basically, there is more stuff, spreading with incredible speed these days, and so the times before the internet cannot be truly compared with today, regardless of what the particular theme is.

this is spot on.  couldn't agree more.

the traditional music outlets that we had in the 90s were MTV (yes, they actually played music and made bands careers) and terrestrial radio. that's it.  in Philadelphia there is really only 1 rock station and they play 95 percent stuff from the 90s.   so it's rare to hear about new artists these days unless you go digging for them.

with the internet being here now, we all tend to belong to smaller tribes who tend to influence eachother rather than one big mass market that a few select record companies get to decide what is going to be popular, so having a new rock back like GNR back in 91 is unlikely to happen these days.

if I were managing GNR I would have had them start their own record label with a few other top bands with the sole intent of taking them on tour in am ozzfest sort of way and helping pay forward a new generation of rockers.  probably wouldn't make a ton of money, but wouldn't have to lose money either.

I miss being excited by a new band or an album release.  I remember the first time I heard Nirvana on MTV.  my life changed right there and then.  same thing when I heard appetite. can't say that a band or album has done that to me in 25 years and I think how music is introduced and distributed is mostly to blame in addition to our instant gratification culture

This is a brave statement😄 I think they work well together, but not so sure it's the full package of chemistry. They have written great songs together, but not a absolute must have record. Myles is obviously also an incredible singer but he doesn't really have that lead singer charisma that puts him up to that Jagger/Tyler/Rose other half category IMO. He's no slouch though! And looking forward to the album.

I love most of the SMKC stuff and definetly agree Myles is a great singer...... but he is definitely not in the same class as Jagger or Tyler in both the song writing as well as stage presence categories.  I'm a fan of Myles but a coat rack has more charisma than he does on stage.
