My guess is if someone actually does have a leak of The General then it’ll come out now as it has no value.
Personally I’m going to try to avoid it and just hear the final version. Would rather just have a surprise.
It will still have massive value. There are a lot of people who would die to hear the finck bucket version

Glad that the critic called CD criminally underrated. You know Axl is gonna love that shit

The Vinyl is tempting but I'm gonna hold out & see if they do a CD release. Great effort overall, video was really well done. I really wish they would follow this up with an album release but I'm just happy they're doing something lol.
Honestly getting The General is almost like getting an album

The only thing that was better than all this was when I found out CD was actually going to be officially released

The video is absolutely awesome. I could have never believed Guns could operate like a normal band again. This is amazing

This is unbelievable. Am I dreaming. We are actually going to get the General. I’ve been waiting 16 fucking years to hear this fucking song. I can’t even……

Had it already been confirmed "The General" was coming out soon? It's listed as the B-side for the Perhaps vinyl on the store: https://gnrmerch.com/products/perhaps-7-vinyl
Holy shit!

1. Absurd 2/10. I like Slash’s guitar but otherwise terrible. I would give it a 1/10 but that reserved for the worst of the worst My World
2. Hard Skool 5.5/10. It’s decent. It’s fine. I would give the demo a 6/10. It’s about the same level as Shacklers Revenge.
3. Perhaps 6.5/10 Definitely the best new song released so far. The finished version is definitely better than the demo. About at the same level as Catcher but not quite as good as the Blues

Yeah. Comparing it to November Rain was a bad choice and when combined with 18 years of positive comments from band members and collaborators, it set the expectations way too high. There was an expectation that it was going to be better than any of the songs on Chinese because it was being saved for the sequel. But I would say Atlas is of equal or slightly lesser quality than most of the songs on Chinese Democracy.
It’s right there with Catcher, The Blues, and Perhaps. All songs are good. None of them great like NR,Estranged, Civil War, Yesterdays ect….

The sad part is that atlas is actually decent, but was hyped up cause someone long ago (can’t remember who) said that it was the next November Rain.
It was classic rock magazine. They said it was a glam rock version of November Rain which it sounds nothing like at all

Brain’s drums on this song are so good. There is also a really great background vocal part in the first half of the song not sure if it’s duff or Melissa or both.

I wish to God that Axl would have released CD in 2002, before or during the tour. Imagine if he kept that band intact. Robin and Buckethead were guitar Gods. Brain, a drumming God. Axl in peak condition, primed and ready to take over the world. The ceiling for this band was very, very high. I still have my Spin magazine, "what the world needs now is Axl Rose". And nothing could be truer at the time. Axl Rose no show at Philly and back to the wilderness for 4 years was a dagger to my heart, to my soul. I used to brag to friends and family how amazing Chinese Democracy would be and I would later on be asked by them, "where's Chinese Democracy?".
Bucket and Robin are both awesome guitar players but they were never ever going to be fully accepted by the mainstream public. They were both such freaks back then (Bucket still is lol)

It sounds good, the few seconds of Robin's solo are both hilarious and great, the drums are awesome, the vocals unfortunately seem to have lots of effects, but overall it's still the best NITL era single.
The transition was not as crazy in better quality. I actually kind of like it. Although my brain was ready for Robins solo to kick in

The other thread was nearing 200 pages and was a classic GNR-forum clusterfuck. It's best we start fresh
I'm looking forward to finally hearing the song in good quality in about an hour
It was a thing of beauty that thread you created. But I’m with you I’m ready for this in HQ. Is there anyway to rip it from the radio?

The key to enjoying this band is to stop caring. Become agnostic about anything involved about what this band does or does not do. It really doesn’t deserve anything more (or less). Just find moments you can enjoy and forget all the rest.
This is the position I have taken myself for years now. Also enjoy the unintentional comedy of this band as well. This touch tunes debacle was one of the funniest moments in the history of the band.

"The General" is officially delayed... but "The General" AND "Monsters" is (unofficially) out of the bag

My guess is the General is gonna be long and epic. Makes way more sense as the B side to the 4 minute piano driven rocker as the A side.
