You obviously don't remember who we're dealing with here.

Most mllionaire rockstars don't log on to fanboards and call members "lesbian cunts", but Axl's not most millionaire rockstars.

True. But I also don’t see him calling Universal and saying I would like to delay the release of Perhaps. And the Universal executive says “why?” and Axl says “for spite.”

Some folks need to use some critical thinking here: That Linkfire page wouldn’t be activated, nor would anything be posted to it, much less a fully produced video, unless the band, label, and management were ALL on the same page regarding a promotional strategy. You remove one of those three from the equation, and the page stays dormant with nothing being posted to it: test code or otherwise.

SOME kind of promotional campaign was in place, but either “someone” got cold feet at the last minute, or they got pissed off that we found the page early and pulled the release to try to spite us.

Anyone trying to deny that is just lying to themselves.

Millionaire rock stars do not change a plan out of spite for nerds on the internet lol. This is not a Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.

  3. Does anyone else find this all kinda hilarious? There is a website with a countdown and then it’s gone. The band says nothing. All the media outlets report it is happening. The band says nothing. Then an Italian newspaper says next week.  (Italy really lol) And wait for it- the band says nothing. I’ve learned more about the inner workings of Guns N Roses from the guy who chases Axl’s microphone around than I’ve learned from anyone else in the last 15 years.

I don't know if it's frustration from Perhaps not being released, but there's been some weird arguments on here recently. Hopefully we didn't misread each other's tone, I didn't intend to call you out and I usually like your posts but it seems like you've been picking fights lately. I look forward to your posts on Friday

I truly believe this band makes people insane. I’ve been coming to these boards for years and I’ve seen it again and again. The greatness of those early records coupled with the insane wait for Chinese, coupled with the pockets of brilliance on Chinese and then no CD2 and only a couple of officially released singles has made a small sub set of the fan base completely bonkers. Look no further than the rolling stone article of Rick and the locker saga. I’ve always wondered are any other fan bases like this?

I know. But just seeing how we've gone from pre-sale to pre-save, it's depressing. I remember when people use to stand in line for midnight record releases, then rush into the door and try to be the first one to buy whatever it was. Now, we've been reduced to pre-saves. It's just so sad.

It’s not sad. It’s the present man. And in the not too distant future this stuff will be uploaded to whatever vr/ar goggles we will all be wearing all the time

I completey disagree. I really enjoy Perhaps. I think it’s a bit underbaked and needed a second verse which I don’t think will be in the final version. But it has all the makings of a good GNR song imo, I could see it as a UYI track.

This is not an illusion type track. It screams CD era. Maybe that will change with how it sounds on Friday

Fair enough, and just to be clear I'm not saying he stuck with those exact lyrics over the years, but he had full lyrics when he recorded the song.

Agreed. It is a complete song with complete lyrics. You don’t put in that degree of effort on those power screams unless you feel like the song is pretty flushed out. I guarantee those were not nailed to that degree on a single take. The end of the bridge is the only place where he seems to lose it a bit but that could be fixed pretty easy today. This song is not like nothing or quick song. It seems to be a pretty complete idea.

  8. Eye on You 👁️ is pretty weird. The Mac Daddy part especially so. But the vocals are pretty incredible. It obviously took a lot of effort. I’m just so curious about some of Axl’s decision making during this time period. Like here’s this bizarre song that has no guitars and sounds kinda like Prodigy. This I will add some blistering vocals. This is my choice.

If you listen to the locker leak of Sorry before it was further worked on, I can totally see where Bach was coming from. It was slow and grinding and the guitars in the chorus were some of the heaviest guitars they'd ever done. Of course the final mix softened the track completely but I think Bach has been unfairly criticised for those comments when at the time the song wasn't far off his description.

Why would you assume that Bach heard the village mix? That track was played for some people in 2006. I can’t imagine it was any different to the version that ended up on the album by that point.

Yea the descriptions of Sorry, Atlas, Prostitute etc. over the years should definitely lower expectations when people talk about new songs sounding like classic GNR. I assume Perhaps will sound similar to Hardschool, but I hope the mix is better.

Sorry was described as doom metal with a mean slow grinding beat lol. It’s more like a GNR version of late 70s Pink Floyd with much cheesier lyrics.

Atlas was described as glam rock meets November Rain double lol. The first minute (which is actually quite good) is kinda like the Who. The rest of the song sounds like third eye blind hired Axl Rose as their singer and all of a sudden Brian May from Queen came out of nowhere and sprayed painted a solo onto the song.

Prostitute I believe was described as fire and ice (I have no idea what that was supposed to mean) and while it’s quite good like the other songs took on a mythical type quality which it could not live up to.

I hope the General is awesome. But the problem with all these songs (including everything on CD) is that they take so long to come out that they never seem to be able to live up to the myth.

If this is real, then I totally understand why cd2 never came out, and why we’re only getting six songs now, one at a time.

It’s basically just a studio EP mixed with a remix EP. I still woulda dug it, mind you, but I can see why the label wouldn’t.

idk about you guys, but these days, I just think of stuff like VR, Snakepit, etc as “GnR by extension.” I know Axl is not on any of that stuff, but at this point, it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t care anymore about having a big catalog to his name or not. It is what it is.

If you’re one of those “Axl or nothing” people, I’d recommend opening yourself up to AI-generated music and make your own playlists. It’s the best you’re gonna get, at this point…

When AI gets good enough I would certainly be interested in how the 1st VR album would sound with Axl on vocals
