  1. https://splash247.com/sea-world-management-taps-guns-n-roses-for-latest-ship-name/ Monaco’s Sea World Management has delved into the 1980s American rock music scene for the name of its latest ship. Sea World Management’s first tanker purchase in years has seen a ship rechristened Paradise City, the name of one of the most famous songs by Guns N’ Roses, which featured on their 1987 debut album, Appetite for Destruction. Sea World Management paid Stamatis Molaris-led Empire Navigation $26m for the 14-year-old, Korean-built, 50,000 dwt ship, formerly called Tigris. Contained in the song are lyrics which could pertain to the business of shipping: “Rags to riches or so they say, Ya gotta keep pushin’ for the fortune and fame, You know it’s, it’s all a gamble when it’s just a game.”
  2. Add IRS to that and you got 4 songs I never understood how they ended up on the album. Hard Skool alone is better than all of these combined.
  3. And yet he never performed it with GNR, at least not yet. Sir Paul plays with Dave Grohl and the kitchen sink but not GNR.
  4. Might not hurt any sales, but as a fan I'm not really feeling some Karen spitting in my face for attending a Guns N' Roses concert. I went to see Rammstein this summer. I was spit at, yelled at and called funny things by female protesters in front of the venue. Pissed me off. I didn't do anything to anyone. I just wanted to enjoy the concert. GNR can be late and do all the drugs they want I don't care. But sexual harassment is not cool, not in these times and it never was any other time.
  5. And I thought I had too much time on my hands. Great job!
  6. Photographer has at least to be credited when using/publishing his work anywhere, regardless whatever payment was agreed on or not.
  7. After the successful tour and new releases now the band has to deal with this? Working for one of the biggest rock bands of all time with busloads of groupies all night and of all people he picks on an employee/contractor that doesn't want him? What a fucking idiot. Cut the touring money after taxes in half once this lawsuit is over. This actually hurts Axl, Slash and Duff financially. And it puts the entire band and image in a very bad light. Copyright infringement is bad enough, but sexual harassment man? Really? Fuck you! Yeah I get it Kat is pretty - but no means no. A real man wouldn't even bother a second attempt and move on to a woman that actually wants him. A professional wouldn't even consider a first one. What a fucking shit show. Sorry for Kat and sorry for the band. Hope it will be sorted out and end well.
  8. Can see that for the studio product, but for me the songs lack most in the meat and potatoes department. Having different musicians re-record parts is one thing, not having a well rounded composition in the first place is another.
  9. Hard Skool - with a bit more heart and attention to detail, this could have been a GREAT one, but the ‘copy, paste, repeat‘ way they put this together gives it a bit of a plastic pop flavor. Still my favourite from the leftovers though, even though the musical theme somehow reminds me of „Dead Horse“ from UYI 1. Perhaps - love that Carole King style piano riff - but again: copy, paste, repeat. Why? This one screams for a rock and roll piano solo, but instead it got some rather uninspired guitaring. I mean that’s SLASH right there on stage, right? Will you please give the motherfucker a few bars more to actually play some fucking guitar for fucks sake? The General - dark I can reflect, but this one’s going nowhere for me. No release, no climax...or maybe I just don’t get it. I feel this song comes from an honest place and I respect that, but everytime he sings „Daddy don’t…“ a part of my soul just shuts off. Times are dark enough already. Survivors don’t whine. They inspire and lead by example. Back to the drawing board I would have said. Needs a twist, a moral, a conclusion, something...anything. I understand it's just a b-side, but given the topic I think this one deserves more and better in the composition and songwriting department. Absurd – are you listening to me mister security guard? That song – gone! Monsters – jury’s still out on this one, waiting for the official release and a live performance. But so far, this one sounds promising. Five „new“ songs in and still no guitar solo that gets me excited, makes me close my eyes, bang my head, tap my foot, drive too fast, drink too much or grab my guitar and pretend I’m a rockstar. Where’s the soul? Where’s the spirit? Stop messing around with copy and paste in Pro Tools. Stop contemplating your fucking „gear“ and „tone“ and get to the actual matter of things. It's GNR for fucks sake not some hipster bullshit band. Give me some proper guitar solos that make my jaw drop you lazy old farts. I really want a new album but if it sounds anything like these „new“ songs, I won't be running to buy it. I'm happy they do perform "new" songs in concert and release them. I just hope none of them ends up on a future album, at least not in their current form or shape. Whatever happened to the art of songwriting. Thoughts?
  10. Actually I am, thanks! Not clean yet, but I managed to cut it down significantly. Last time it was just one normal joint instead of the stupid amounts I used to do. I can now go for three weeks without any weed and without anything else as a substitute. Still feeling like shit physically, but the mental aspect is better - which surprises me as I usually get super depressed this time of year, but not this time, not yet. But I'm scared of christmas time, probably gonna need some then to distract from the loneliness. I really miss my family. By the way Super Lemon Haze is one of my favorite strains! Tried CBD (buds) too and feel the same way about it, but the CBD oil is actually pretty good, helps me a little with anxiety and insomnia.
  11. Not a fan of either Marshall or Magnatone. Gimme a Fender Bassman best amp ever.
  12. Maybe he felt like he or the song wasn't ready to perform it at that time. I haven't paid much attention to the lyrics yet, but from what I picked up about the subject matter and the vibes this song is giving me, it does not feel like a puff piece. I'm not a fan of the song yet (it's too dark and dark is not good for me at the moment lol) but I feel taken seriously as a listener and in that I respect that song a lot more than "Absurd" and will give it further listening.
  13. 5' o clock was the only Slash album I really enjoyed start to finish. I can totally see how Axl might have considered some of those tracks for GNR.
  14. I don't understand why this AI shit stays online while harmless phone live recordings from the audience are being taken down within 24 hours as if they were a matter of national security. AI is dangerous and everyone who doesn't understand that is gonna be in for a very rude awakening as soon as Skynet begins to ruin lives and businesses. Oppose AI, fight it and destroy it while you still can.
  15. I like Melissa's backing vocals, but given Axl's range and looking at proper frequency separation and saturation, it would make more sense for Duff (even better: Izzy) to have his back on vocals a little to thicken things up in the mid range, think live renditions of So Fine or 14 Years.
  16. I love that moment in Estranged, I believe that was a brief glimpse of his brain not being on autopilot. Let me explain. The elephant in the room no "vocal coach" seemingly ever told him is muscle memory. He's been singing that stuff for almost 40 years, hence him being tired of rehearsing it but still being able to pull it off in his sleep - while the brain is sending the ever same signals to the muscles, using the ever same communication paths. However, the body can no longer respond the same way to that particular conditioning because of aging. To get rid of that neurological tunnel vision, a change of angle is needed. He can workout and do breathing exercises all he wants, it won't do shit for him because he is keeping the tires in shape but not the engine. If I was his coach I'd say climb up a tree and sing in french even if you don't speak the language. Sing while you are swimming with your clothes on. Sing in the back of your car parked in front of a green light during rush hour. You get the idea. Anyway, I doubt he'd go for less than 100% technical perfection in the studio. And we all know he's not fucking around when it comes to studio recordings. So even if they do come up with new material, he will end up facing the same struggle live unless he either starts embracing full on baritone or working with an actual vocal coach.
  17. I'm just confused about reaction videos in general. If people enjoy that good for them. If they make money with that great. However, they are not producing any actual content or anything of actual value. They offer opinions, maybe some experience (which does not equal expertise) based around content others created. I mean what are those guys gonna do when given tinder and spark? Talk about others building a fire? I'm lost. I like simple. This whole concept is just too meta for me.
  18. Shame on me I never heard of that band, but then again I'm old and I don't watch TV or attend festivals so what do I know. I didn't mean to piss on that band. I just find those reaction videos so strange, especially if they are coming from what I suppose is a professional musician. Can you imagine Axl doing one of these? Me neither.
  19. The more I listen to this, the more I think it should be an overture or interlude of some sort, all that buildup without climax kinda lets it jump the shark. The song would make more sense to me going into "Monsters" or "Chinese Democracy" right after. I like that they play new songs live, but I don't like the randomness of the song sequencing.
  20. So let me get this straight that dude is a singer but instead of singing himself he rather be a music journalist talking about other singers that actually do sing, right? How long until people start making reaction videos to reaction videos? Or is that a thing already?
  21. I hope just take a breath now and keep going some time later. The physically most demanding jobs on stage (vocals and drums) are clearly exhausted and Melissa is so sick she couldn't even go on stage for the last show anymore. They need a break.
