  1. I was watching a few Alt and Slash clips when Miles sang SCOM,  it did not feel right to me at all (apart from the fact that he does not sing it well) it felt out of place and kind of 'unseemly' , 'it should have been Axl' and nobody else.  I suppose sort of disloyal oof Slash, maybe I am being too sensitive.

I’ll take it all - regardless of who plays on it. Can’t have too much material!!

Re Ashba - what’s all he hate for? Genuinely don’t know - substandard playing or ‘douche’ behaviour? I know he is pretty much dismissed on here - just never really understood why?

I dont understand all the hate for Ashba too,?

I think they will cancel... the situation in Europe right now is scary with people getting the virus without knowing how they got it.

And governments are not prepared for this at all. They lack testing capability, protection for health care professionals, etc.

What worries me even more is that everything was always built around cost efficiency (in the Netherlands where I live). They can't cope with lots of extra patients at all and our minister of health already talked about "patient selection" in case of a wide spread epidemic.

So yeah, we're basically screwed. Wuhan 2.0.

Doing croceries is going to be a challenge... a GnR concert simply impossible.

I wish everyone the best. Let's hope it won't get too bad... but I don't trust my government at all unfortunately. They fuck things up all the time.

I am sorry to hear that, it is similar here in the UK, the first death yesterday, it is starting to get get quite scary.  If it doesnt get any better I think there will be lots of cancelations including GnR (and nothing to do with ticket sales).

Unless entertainers are talking about an illness or dieaaes,  cancer for exqmple ,  or some national or worldwide national diaster, CA fires or USA hurricanes for example, they all really need to STFU. They ALL need to STFU about things like : the environment, politics, racism, sexism, etc. Entertainers are the most hypocritical , uneducated, and narrcistic people. Back to W.Axl Rose and his anti Trump talk. Funny,  ridiculously comical, but had he still been Lafayette,  Indiana citizen and  no W.Axl Rose Malibu  living GnR rockstar all over the world, William Baily would have been the biggest Trump loving,Trump rallies,  Trump voting and supporting  fan.

And I am not a Trump fan.

Sorry but this is a ridiculous statement full of assumptions and stereotypes, you just dont know any of this.  Also 'entertainers' come in all hues and shapes just like any other group of people.

  5. They are a long way from 'sad old men' far from it...see AC/DC, Stones concert couple of weeks ago, older than GNR but still rocking beautifully.

I am new to the band so busily watching youtube etc  yesterday I watched an interview with AD  Ashba (thik thats his name) where he says Axl has a load of great music and hopes he will record it some day...

    Why is GNR/Axl so destructive?

Sure.. i’v been listening to CD all night.. and damn.. it is a realy depressive album.. you love it.. and boom you fucking hate it.. after all those years it still make no sence.. can’t make up my mind about it, it’s like a bad taco.. masterpice and diarrhea.....:smiley-confused2:

Playing devils advocate maybe his brain chemistry contributes towards his constant procrastinations and as a consequence maybe being positive with kindness towards Axl would be more helpful.  Also as regards his 'adopted family, he most likely would not be alive if not for Beta...

Well Axl, another world tour without new music to promote. U'all had an incredible run with the 'Not In This Life Time" tour. GnR could have built on the success and momentum of the "Lifetime" tour with a new album. Your marketing & management people are morons.

Of course, Axl, you screwed up before letting management control the group. GnR made a 1/2 billion plus, the group should hit the billion dollar mark with this new world tour, which is really the old world tour with a new name. Hey, Im all about the money, too. Dont blame you.

Oh, your political opinion regarding Trump is so sophomoric and uninformed... Axl you are still apologizing for "One in  Million" ... thats why you are kissing the ass of the liberal/PC clowns with your stupid opinions about Trump. How many millions are you making with the tour money.

Trump wants you to make that money, and wants to tax you less so you can keep more of your money... Shut-up and sing!

'sophhomoric' you say....hmmm.  Have you read Axl's posts on Trump and other political issues, because, even if you dont agree with him, he is very well informed and articulate.  To find this out  for yourself all you need to do is some research and then you may come to some kind of intelligent  conclusion.

Mine hasn’t changed much. Being too young to have lived through the original era, I never really had either of them high up on a pedestal or any grandiose expectations of them changing the entire direction of the band again if they came back. My disillusionment and disappointment with Axl on the other hand between the Chinese Democracy era and now has grown immeasurably.

Looking back on classic GNR, the stories, the videos, everything about them, it was Axl and Axl alone who was responsible for making them “the most dangerous band in the world.” Sure, the rest of them were a bunch of semi- or fully dysfunctional drug addicts - but that’s neither unique nor particularly dangerous to anyone but themselves. Drugged out rockstars are a dime a dozen.

It was Axl that was unique both within the band and among rockstars of the era, because he was basically at war with everyone and everything. The critics, the media, the fans, the bandmates, the management, other bands, the women in his life - anyone he crossed paths with, he might explode in spectacular fashion against them, seemingly out of nowhere, without regard for the consequences, at times even to the point of unleashing physical violence.

That was what was dangerous about GNR. Axl was hardly the first guy to wage a one-man war against the world, but this was the first time you had a highly talented, world famous rock band tethered to such a personality.

And well into the Chinese Democracy era, even past the release of the album for a time, Axl remained a compelling figure because this hadn’t changed. Axl was still at war with everything, no longer as a Napoleonic conqueror but instead as Colonel Kurtz in the jungle.

You may still love Axl as a musician (indeed I do), but that mystique he once had is dead now, and it’s dead because Axl is now at peace with the world. He let go of his old grudges. He stopped exploring new musical directions. He shows up on time and turns in predictable performances. He doesn’t pick fights anymore. He gives friendly interviews to the media. He holds conventional liberal political opinions. He never says anything that would offend mainstream sensibilities. He doesn’t even sue anybody these days, the lazy rich man’s way of war.

Axl is a 100% tamed monster these days, and while that’s probably great for his own emotional well-being (indeed he’s probably never been happier or more comfortable than he is now), from a dramatic standpoint there’s no thrill or adventure to him anymore. All that’s left is his performance as a musician, and with his diminishing vocal abilities and refusal to take any new creative risks, it all adds up to a very boring and familiar figure, the aged out, washed up musical has-been.

A long way to fall in just a few years for such a legendary artist, and an especially grave disappointment for those of us who were invested in Axl’s creative vision from the era of Chinese Democracy.

A superbly articulated post that, in my mind, is a 100% spot on.  Thankyou.

These people here making digs at Slash and Duff's integrity is fucking laughable, as if any one of us would have said "pass" to the millions they're making from these shows.  You don't think they'd pad their legacy with new GNR albums with their mark on them if they could?  If that's your issue, the lack of that falls at the feet of one man, and the Brazilian support group he surrounds himself with that have put zero pressure on him to produce anything new beyond these shows.

We just dont know that, Axl is always getting it in the neck when we simply  have no information to justify it.

  10. I think photographs from shorter hair, braids, then a multitude of hats make it pretty obvious he was losing his hair.  It  must have been absolutely traumatic for him, part of his attractiveness included his long red hair.  I think this effected him more than we will ever know and I totally understand  due to male friends  who experienced ongoing trauma with hair loss  and they were not in the public eye.

Same Question: What if Titanic never hit the iceberg?  I think it's the event, what makes the Titanic so famous. Same with Guns N' Roses. It's the story behind Guns N' Roses what makes this band so special. I think GN'R with happy dudes, a very public Axl and 20 or more records make them boring. It's my opinion.

    Right on, great analogy...
