Better is a top 10 GNR "single" type song of all time. I really believe had that been the first single off of CD, things would have gone way differently for that album. Chinese Democracy was a horrible choice for a lead off single. Better and Street of Dreams was the obvious 1..2 but Axl....

Releasing it on vynly is the stupidest thing ever. Everything is digital these days They Don't even install CD players in new cars anymore. Way to say F-You to your fan base. I'll play It could be about Jesus who was very candid that the leaders of his faith (Judaism) were actively "prostituting" themselves to the Roman Empire in every way possible. The " what if I said I loved you and then walked away?" Again...this was Jesus plan all along ....and he was challenging his followers to develop the path when he was gone. Again, this is just me playing along wirh the OPs concept of the song.

I always felt Poe delivered the album that Axl always wanted to, in her 2000 release of Haunted. She even used Josh Freese on drums so it has a very Chinese Democracy feel to it....almost like it's a cousin of CD since Josh was working on both projects around the same time. We know Axl was into Fiona Apple music around that time so I'm certain he was well aware of what Poe was doing. It is a great album but underapreciated by the press, and much like with Axl's reaction to Chinese Democracy, this has caused Poe to become a musical recluse when it comes to delivering new music. Axl, at least, is trying to finally get some songs out there and the reunion keeps him in the spot light but for Poe.....she walked away completely. Of course she never hit the fame of GNR but Chinese Democracy and Haunted are definitely albums on the same family tree.

I don't think this is management issue. The joke boxes weren't supposed to list the songs until the release dates...that was the agreement. I imagine there are a number of radio stations that have the song today....but they know they can't air it until the release date...that waa the agreement.
