Re-Watched Repo! and Hard Candy.

I can't decide who I loved more ASH or Bill Mosley.

Hard Candy was a crazy flick. I went into that movie knowing nothing about the plot and ended up with a "W T F" look on my face throughout the entirety of it.

Watched Donnie Brasco and Pineapple Express this week.

Donnie Brasco blew my mind!

Donnie Brasco is amazing! Johnny Depp is brilliant. I can't wait to see Public Enemies. I'm curious to see what he does wit the Mad Hatter in the Alice remake. That's supposed to be in 3D, I believe. Pineapple Express was hilarious. Have you seen Zack and Miri Make a Porno? :rofl-lol: So funny. There's a lot of awkward in the movie though.

The Tim Burton/Johnny Depp combo is getting a little stale though. I don't think they'll ever top Edward Scissorhands. and what's with Burton doing nothing but remakes these days? He used to be one of the most original directors around but somewhere down the pike he just decided to spend a whole decade doing nothing but remaking stuff or adapting children's classics.

This won't mean anything to anyone else here, but Melissa Leo, who was once a cast member of the show Homicide: Life on the Street just scored a Best Actress nomination from the Academy, which makes me giddy. So much so, that I am willing to overlook the totally fucking ridiculous best actor nom Brad Pitt recieved for Benjamin Button. ^_^

Are you criticizing Pitt's performance in the movie or Pitt in general? While I like him, I think he's more of a movie star than an actor really.

Who's your pick for best actor? Rourke? I think Langella could walk away with it...he turned in a masterful performance in Frost/Nixon....

I'm not big on the film. Which kills me as I've loved everything else of Fincher's. Yes, that includes Alien 3 and Panic Room. Pitt should have gotten a supporting actor nod for Burn After Reading, he was brilliant in that. But he didn't resonate for me in Button at all. I agree about Langella's performance, but I think it's between Rourke and Penn. Leonardo DiCaprio should have been nominated for Revolutionary Road. It was nice of them to include the great Richard Jenkins for a wonderful performance in a lovely film that virtually no one saw, though.

I respectfully disagree. Burton/Depp are a classic pairing and make excellent films together. I actually like Sweeney better than Edward Scissorhands.

The fact that the piece of shit The Reader somehow got a nomination for Best Picture over The Wrestler and many other better movies is more fucking ridiculous. Not to mention the snub on the Springsteen song "The Wrestler."

The first time I watched Hard Candy I was amazed and un-comfortable all at the same time. I still feel the same after re-watching it.

Anyone watch the show Supernatural? I've caught it a few times on Scream and it seems like a really great show.

They've defintely made some excellent films but it's getting old. I love Depp as a actor but he hasn't really done anything truly out of character since Blow. Bruce Campbell said it best when he said "Johnny Deep is just plain out weird" which is great for the character Burton thinks off but he needs to stop doing the same tired act with Burton and The Pirate flicks.

Pitt's nomination really is a joke. I like the guy, but Benjamin Button is a classic case of make-up and special effects giving the performance. If he and Fincher actually gave the character some character, it could have been a great movie, not just an interesting and pretty one.

You're right about Dicaps. He really should have been up there.

I love Angelica as much as the rest of you . . . . but jeez, come on guys. I swear that a couple of you totally base all your movie/actor opinions on what she likes or dislikes. She could come out and say she loved the latest Pauly Shore movie and a couple of you would be like "oh yea, I always loved that guy, very underated actor."

Are any of you man enough to disagree with her on a movie?????

There certainly are a lot of pitchers on this forum!!

Like I said, she's one of my Favorite Posters on here and probably the top Movie Expert that we have on the forum. But you guys are allowed to have your own opinions some times!!!!!!!!

(And I know, I know. Several of you will reply how it's not true and will bring out some instant where you disagreed with her. Again, pitch much?)

I'm not the top movie expert, just the most obnoxious. Sly has no trouble disagreeing with me whatsoever. Lenny either *usually*, although he has been uncharacteristically respectful of my taste lately. I should start a Buffy thread, that would put an end to that pretty swiftly.

Uh... you may have missed the mark with that one, bud. Pitchers throw the ball and catchers do the catching, if you're gonna go for that ridiculous analogy. I take it you're a little unsettled by Angelica's aggressive wielding of her symbolic cock in this thread and feel like the boys need to take the proverbial power back through resistance for resistance's sake. Way to man it up there, fella.

Sigh,

Bluesly. Usually I enjoy reading your posts. I don't agree with some of it, but you usually end a touch of credibility to topics.

First off - the term "pitcher" for somebody who constantly THROWS out compliments and kisses ass is a COMMON one where I live.

And have you never heard of a pitchman? Do you know what they do for a living?

Your response proves my point though. Instead of responding and telling me why I'm wrong, pointing out movies you've disagreed with . . . instead, you just respond with insults. Proving my point 100%. I apologize if I touched a nerve with you.

But just so there is no confusion:

She is actually she's one of my favorite posters. And I respect her movie opinions MORE than any other person on this forum.

WTF are you talking about with your last comments? This has nothing to do with a woman wielding her symbolic cock and the "BOYS" need to take the power back? Do you really really take yourself that seriously??? I base my posts on teh PERSON without regard if they are male or female. I don't care if the expert is male, female, transexual, etc.

Way to man up????? Uhhh, ok. Good one.

I just watched the directors cut of Troy.

I never connected with Eric Bana's charactor, and it felt good to see that he was killed off. However, he was much more respectable than his brother Orlando Blooms charactor who was a fuckin' pussy and should have died. He killed Achillies. Brad Pitt was a complete legend in this film, killing was his skill, Bloom wasn't worthy enough to kill Achillie. Everytime Orlando was in a fight, he'd cowery away, instead of standing up and fighting (like the rest of his army).

Lets clear this up right now, just so there's no confusion. I'M the movie expert here, not Angelitron :xmassrudolph: Whether thats an actual accolade or akin to being crowned King Dork or not is something else altogether. Her taste in music alone is enough to make a rat puke (no offence Ang')

There are some die-hard Buffy fans here because it was one of the best things in the history of things. I just mentioned it because it tends to set 'Lenny' off, even though he's never seen a single episode. Cause he's an 'assbutt'.

Did anyone seen Australia? Is it any good? I'm thinking of watching it.

It's awful. But it's watchably awful and a genuine curiosity piece.

Glad you were able to clear that up, but you're comment about being "man enough" didn't sit well with me, so you could see how I took it the way I did. I'm immensely critical about terminology and the way people phrase things. Not really sure about how I proved your point, though. You were anticipating "pitching" counter-arguments of denial and I just wanted to get a cheap laugh out of what I perceived to be your ignorance. I'm like that sometimes. Misunderstanding aside, don't take it personally.
