Illmatic is one of the most overrated records there is.the only solid complaint i've ever heard about that record was that it's too short, but that's weak anyway; i'd rather have a shorter album full of great songs and no filler than a longer album with two or three tracks i couldn't care for. every song on illmatic is great. that album defines hip-hop. His last three albums were all masterpieces and he was the most important musical figure of his time. No one captured the contradictions of the gangsta lifestyle so perfectly, or connected with his audience so emotionally. As an icon alone he is without compare in Rap, like Elvis or The Beatles.I love Wayne and I think his approach is really original and important today, but he's not 2Pac.
