AbominableHoman
94-97 pop was shit, rock was shit, metal was non existent. There were a few exceptions of course, but for the most part I can't find anything I like from that era...Come on man, really?STP, Floyd, Soundgarden, REM, Nine Inch Nails, and Pearl Jam all had shit out in 1994 alone, that's pretty cool to me. I honestly don't think I could single out a year, but as far as decades go I'd say the 80s were pretty shitty for music, at least when compared to the 60s, 70s, 90s and 00s.could not get into itBesides Floyd and NIN all those bands are grossly overrated. Gordon Comstock
The years 1999 - 2003 were really bad. Loads of rap/metal crap. Started getting better around 2003 with bands like The Vines/White Stripes/Black Rebel Motorcycle Club/The Hives and The Strokes. Most of the aformentioned bands have also now gone to shit but they all came out at just the right time to breath fresh air into music.those werent bad. got an awesome gnr song in 99, haha. good bands with albums out in those years:slipknot, cradle of filth, kid rock, misfits, buckcherry, system of a down.... LightningBolt
Well if I had to pick a decade, it'd be from '95 - '05, I can't think of a single album I own from those years, and '06 marked a good year in music, and has been getting better since, in my opinion. TheFormerSoul
When you say, the worst year for music, that could mean alot of different things. If you mean the worst time for the music industry, that would probably be between 2001-nowthe worst time for music in general would probably be in the middle ages to dark ages, no joke

mrandyk
This decade is easily the worst for music, followed by the 90s. For me the only bright spot of this decade was the second half of last year with the new Metallica, GNR, and ACDC albums. It seems as though no one is trying to make music that requires talent of any form anymore. Popular music is what these people are trying to make, since that is what the mainstream wants. The mainstream is settling for popular music instead of music that is good, that is why this decade has been horrible. Guitar solos are pretty uncommon now, lyrics are made to be easily comprehendable (even if that means they dont make sense), songs dont seem to exceed 4 minutes very long, and they all sound very similar.I really wonder what people are going to be listening to in 10 years, I assume everyone is going to get really tired of this rap/hip hop phase.
