Powerage5
"Rush [ tickets ] will perform its classic 1981 album "Moving Pictures" in full for the first time ever on its massive upcoming summer trek, dubbed "The Time Machine Tour."The veteran Canadian power trio launches the 37-city outing June 29 in Albuquerque, NM. The trek stretches through September before wrapping Oct. 2 in West Palm Beach, FL. Dates are shown at right.Complete ticketing information, including pre-sale and general on-sale dates, is available at the band's website."Moving Pictures," originally released in 1981, is Rush's most successful album. The set produced radio classics in "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight," and has been certified quadruple platinum in the US.Rush will likely be playing new material on the road, fruits of its ongoing recording sessions with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who co-helmed the group's most recent effort, 2007's "Snakes & Arrows," as the band moves toward completion of its 20th studio album."We were off for a year and a half, and now it's just pouring," guitarist Alex Lifeson said in a press statement. "Everything is totally crazy and there's not a minute left in the day. We've got these half-dozen songs, and we'll probably go in the studio and work on a couple of them and see how it goes, perhaps release something--and I say perhaps--and then we plan on being on the road."The band played more than 100 shows during its previous tour in support of "Snakes & Arrows," grossing nearly $65 million on the trip, which launched in the summer of 2007 and concluded more than a year later."http://www.livedaily.com/news/rush-tickets-and-tour-dates-rush-steps-into-time-machine-for-summer-trek-21876.htmlFull list of tour dates:June 201029 - Albuquerque, NM - Hard Rock Casino AlbuquerqueJuly 20101 - Kansas City, MO - Starlight Theatre2 - Milwaukee, WI - Summerfest5 - Chicago, IL - Charter One Pavilion9 - Sarnia, Ontario - Bayfest13 - Toronto, Ontario - Molson Canadian Amphitheatre15 - Quebec City, Quebec - Festival d'ete de Quebec17 - Toronto, Ontario - Air Canada Centre19 - Uncasville, CT - Mohegan Sun21 - Camden, NJ - Susquehanna Bank Center23 - Saratoga Springs, NY - Saratoga Performing Arts Center24 - Wantagh, NY - Nikon at Jones BeachAugust 20105 - Salt Lake City, UT - USANA Amphitheatre7 - Seattle, WA - White River Amphitheatre9 - San Francisco, CA - Shoreline Amphitheatre11 - Inglewood, CA - The Forum13 - Irvine, CA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater14 - Las Vegas, NV - MGM Grand Garden Arena16 - Morrison, CO - Red Rocks Amphitheatre20 - Wichita, KS - INTRUST Bank Arena22 - St. Louis, MO - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater25 - Omaha, NE - Qwest Center27 - St. Paul, MN - Minnesota State Fair29 - Columbus, OH - Nationwide Arena31 - Allentown, PA - Allentown FairSeptember 20102 - Syracuse, NY - New York State Fair3 - Holmdel, NJ - PNC Bank Arts Center14 - Boston, MA - TD Garden16 - Pittsburgh, PA - Consol Energy Center18 - Washington, DC - Jiffy Lube Live Amphitheater21 - Tulsa, OK - BOK Center23 - San Antonio, TX - AT&T Center25 - The Woodlands, TX - Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion26 - Dallas, TX - Superpages.com Center29 - Atlanta, GA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre @ Encore ParkOctober 20101 - Tampa, FL - Ford Amphitheatre2 - West Palm Beach, FL - Cruzan Amphitheatre-----I can honestly say I don't think I've ever been so excited about a concert in my whole life. I know MP gets a lot of shit because most people consider Permanent Waves the better album, but Moving Pictures is my personal favorite by a vast amount. There's probably no album I can think of that I'd rather see a band perform in it's entirety, and add on another 2 hours of Rush on top of that.Discuss. Jumpin' Jack Flash
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!Definitely gonna see this! Rush is in my top 3 favourite bands. This comes off as no surprise, but MP is the album that got me into them....Vital Signs man.
Black Sabbath
Pretty cool. Never got into Rush too much, but depending on ticket prices, I might consider going to the Washington, DC show.
LightningBolt
Do they have any info on ticket prices? The Washington DC show is in amphitheater which are usually not as expensive, right?

Zint
I saw the Moving Pictures tour... But this is intriguing...looking good for a Toronto show!
Mansin Humanity
No one asked you zint! I unfortunately won't be able to make the Boston date because of football. I might try for the CT show though.
dalsh327
Kind of weird they'd play the old arena in Inglewood and play the ampitheater in Irvine. Also pretty cool seeing them mixing in arena shows with festivals this tour. Jones Beach in NY's good as long as the weather's good, and the CT and Vegas arenas are good venues. Would LOVE to see them in Toronto once, though. Wonder what Peart's got up his sleeve for this tour's solo. Always interesting to see what he's coming up with.Do they have any info on ticket prices? The Washington DC show is in amphitheater which are usually not as expensive, right?Rush is usually around $90 for best seats.Last tour, Rush was playing to smaller crowds and were upgrading the audience. Still as good as ever. But the interest in seeing "Moving Pictures" will get more people than the Snakes and Arrows tour did.

I might try for the CT show though. If you've been to both venues, then you prob. know CT is the better of the two, and Jones Beach is pretty cool if the weather's good... jump on the ferry and do a day at the beach, get 3 hours of Rush, play sick the next day. I'm good for one show per tour with Rush, they don't "deviate from the norm" when it comes to setlists. Rush shot a documentary last tour, they're screening it in Toronto and at the Tribeca Film Fest. Same guys who did "Metal: A Headbangers Journey" and "Iron Maiden: Flight 666", it sounds good. Black Sabbath
Rush stood my dad up twice. Also, I don't think I'll be going if tickets are $90 for specified seating. I'll only pay that for Ozzy.

I still might consider going, but at this point it's a "probably not".

I don't think PM is bad (There's not a bad album in the 70's stuff), but my least favorite is probably Caress Of Steel. And I think the first album is massively underrated. LightningBolt
In fact...this is personal opinion...but I think MP was the last of the truly great Rush albums.Agreed.And I think the first album is massively underrated.Agreed. That was the first one I bought and got into. Besides the obvious "Working Man", there were fantastic songs like "Here Again" (my favorite from the album), "Finding My Way", and "Take A Friend". I've always felt they had a strong Zeppelin vibe on that first album, even Geddy Lee's vocals were similar to Plant's in style it felt like. Regarding popularity I think the following albums are THE Rush albums from the decades.70s album - 2112 whereas my favourite 70s album is Farewell to Kings.80s album - Moving Pictures which would also be my 80s album but Signals and Grace Under Pressure were great follow ups.90s album - Roll The Bones whereas my 90s album would be Counterparts.00s album - There's only been two studio releases (not including Feedback) so it's too soon to judge.I hope they come to England next year and I'm looking forward to their new material. Unfortunately, I think 2112 is pretty overrated. Nothing on the album really stands out to me besides 2112 and Passage To Bangkok. The rest is good, but on an album with those 2 songs, it just seems a bit dull. My favorite 70's album is Hemispheres, by quite a bit. Jumpin' Jack Flash
I'd like to think that A Farewell to Kings is my favourite Rush album. Of course, I absolutely love everything from Caress of Steel to Signals...All brilliant. I agree with whoever said that Counterparts is their best 90s albums! Such an AWESOME album. Zint
My favorite 70's album is Hemispheres, by quite a bit.I still have my Hemispheres tour shirt. It's actually more like a cleaning rag now...I literally wore holes into that shirt I wore it so much.
