wasted
strangely I'm more into disc 2. It's a shame there's no Plague Lovers songs but I quite like This is the Day.
omg1999
I'm loving Disc 2 more as well, and also love this is the day, the vid is great too
wasted
I do a lot of air drumming in the build up to the chorus of This is the day.
Georgy Zhukov
I bet Richey and Nicky would have loved it when the album cover for AFD was the Challenger exploding.AFD was their inspiration for GT. They wanted sell 20 million with their first album than break up. If they sell out its good. They wanted to be used. As oppose to the rise of alternative bands that want to feel exclusive. wasted
I thought they were going to put the Twin tower on the cover of Imperial bodybags. Manics and Oasis did bring back some excitement to British rock.

wasted
the hype of both bands was fun or the ambition to be huge band instead of just wanting to be indie band. But manics did put on much better show even without a lead singer.
Georgy Zhukov
I remember seeing videos of live shows in the early days when Nicky's bass was turned up way too high and you hear him fucking up throughout the song. He has gotten better since though.Think it was Reading in 1991 or 92. Sometimes they turned Richeys guitar too high too. And he never improved. wasted
I saw them around the release of GT at Rock City and it was a great show but there wasn't much bass it was really just James guitar and Sean drums and some keyboard guy in the back. But the next time I saw themFor Gold against the soul they seemed like a real band. but both shows were theatrical. the knew what poses to strike etc.
The Real McCoy
Getting more and more obsessed with "Everything Must Go."Been meaning to pick up "National Treasures" and the new Oasis anthology for a while now.Forgot how great that Oasis was as well. They had some popularity here in the US, but nothing like the near Beatlemania hysteria that happened in the UK.
wasted
Treasures is a solid package helps me focus on the singles. Disc 2 is great. Oasis took over from GNR in the UK.I still think EMG is a good record even out of context.
Georgy Zhukov
Oasis was the only brit pop band ever to make it big in the US. Radiohead and Coldplay were better received but the were the second wave and they did weird shit.
wasted
Morning Glory did ok in the US. Blurs Song 2 is known in the US I think.
Georgy Zhukov
Bought Journal for Plague Lovers on vinyl for the wife. I have trouble finding The Holy Bible for good price though. She was always a fan of Richey's lyrics as I am. wasted
It's toss up between Ian Curtis and Richey who wrote the darkest lyrics. I think that's why Everything Must Go is great you've got that the darkest lyrics but then these normal guy lyrics trying to survive it. I'd love to hear Manics cover Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division.
Georgy Zhukov
Think James could pull it off Even better...Nicky.

Georgy Zhukov
Not that I know of. A Manics fan (they are the most dedicated of people) surely would have posted one by now.
wasted
didn't think so but they covered Rhianna's Umbrella which I found out about pretty late.I wonder if on the next album they'll go RNB or Dub Step.
Georgy Zhukov
Haha, I think they once tried a rap record but they realized James sucked at rapping. Those bloody sheep shaggers can't rap but they make excellent singers. Edited December 1, 2011 by BirdCatcher
