James Bond
I agree with not understanding the "no glamor" argument about Casino Royale. It was grittier, yes, but to me people often overplay the "it doesn't have the Bond elements" card when to me it feels right at home with the early Connery films. Great locations, great Bond girls, an interesting villain (Mr. White more so than Le Chiffre but Le Chiffre was a nice change of pace), good action sequences, and a fine performance from Craig. It was the perfect beginning for the restructuring of the franchise. I noticed a lot of reviewes of Skyfall noted how Craig "finally cracked a smile" in Skyfall. Apparently they missed the entire Ocean Club sequence of Casino Royale, or Bond and Vesper's relationship... or Casino Royale as a whole. Not part of the set. Know if it's available on Blu Ray? If so I'll probably pick it up eventually.Georgy's right. The Blu-ray is fetching ridiculous prices on eBay. Even the DVD is. Makes me want to sell my copy. Skyfall has surpassed Thunderball for 2011 inflation. Only the OP seems to know the 2012 inflation but I reckon it is pretty close. It's almost there. Thunderball has $1,037,291,060 in 2012. I can't take credit for the numbers I've given in this thread, I've borrowed them from a thread on the CBn forums. Just a little Skyfall update since I didn't see the latest numbers posted:Domestic - $296.9 millionForeign - $726.5 millionWorldwide - $1 023 300 000Currently sitting as the 13th highest grossing movie of all time and the highest grossing movie of all time in the UK (the first to pass 100 million pounds).Edit: I seemingly missed a page of the thread when I was replying. Nice pictures Georgy. I wish we would have seen more of her (in more ways than one) in Skyfall. Edited January 7, 2013 by James Bond

Georgy Zhukov
So it should beat Thunderball by the weekend. That is another thing I did not understand about the Brosnan films. They didn't really show off locations like they did in the past. Glad they brought that back.It seems a lot of people haven't even seen Casino Royale or any Bond films, just go by what critics said. Craig smiled throughout Casino Royale.Skyfall is one of the few 2-D only films to hit $1 billion.Yeah Berenice is hot, I couldn't resist posting those pictures

A large part of the Casino sequence was Craig having fun as Bond and again there was quite a bit of humour sprinkled in there.
James Bond
I think what's most amazing about Skyfall's success is how many non-Bond fans I know who've seen the film and loved it. From people at work to close friends who usually wait for the DVD/Blu-ray - everybody has gone to see it and had nothing but good things to say. Granted, from some of my female friends or co-workers, those good things were mostly about Craig's physique.
Georgy Zhukov
Hey, not many girls I know are into Bond films. They find them sexist and what not, so I guess when they see that shower scene, they wouldn't blame the girl.

My mom went to see it, just because she wanted to see why people rave about Daniel Craig as Bond so much, and she thought it was one of the best movies she's ever seen. She doesn't like Bond all that much either - she's been wanting to re-visit some of the older ones now that I've got the Bond 50 set, and everything she's watched so far she thought was boring compared to Skyfall (I think she's watched FRWL, Goldfinger, Casino Royale, and The Living Daylights recently)
Georgy Zhukov
Tell her to watch Die Another Day.
James Bond
Admittedly, Die Another Day looks good on Blu-ray except for the CGI surfing scene which looks worse because of how much clearer Brosnan looks compared to the awful CGI. Same with the bad back projection in the early Connery films. Connery is crystal clear but the backdrops are horrible. But, since P5's mom didn't care for The Living Daylights or From Russia With Love I'd be very curious to see just what she thinks of Die Another Day. Georgy Zhukov
I noticed Die Another Day had some noticeable back projections.
Tater Totts
Based on Miser's post in the Mad Man thread when he said he thinks Jon Hamm should be the new Bond, what are your thoughts on this. Personally I think by 2017 after the next two Craig films he will be too old at pushing 47. Also unlike Miser who thinks Hamm will be perfect for the role I think he wouldnt suit it that well. Georgy Zhukov
Craig is in great shape so I can't see him being too old. He is probably in the best shape of all Bond actors at 44.
Tater Totts
I meant Hamm will be too old at 47 to take over from Craig if he does step down, sorry for thepoor wording

I've said a few times in this thread that if they picked an American Bond, it should be Jon Hamm. Like you said though, he'll be too old by the time Craig is done, which is a shame. Georgy Zhukov
I have a good American Bond for you. Jack Huston.

Georgy Zhukov
Oh, I thought he was American. His grandfather is though. John Huston. Anyway, he would be great.

She didn't hate them by any means, she just thought Craig was on a whole different level of good - which I can agree with. That said I still love the classics. Georgy Zhukov
Thing I love about Skyfall is how Bond in the beginning seems old and out of touch, by the end of the film he is young again.
Crazyman
Thing I love about Skyfall is how Bond in the beginning seems old and out of touch, by the end of the film he is young again. I thought that was somewhat odd, considering Bond just got his license to kill in CR, and QOS is suppose to take place almost immediatly afterward. While it was obvious in the story timeline that Quantum took place starting about an hour or so after where Casino left off, I instantly felt like Skyfall was supposed to take place many years after Quantum. No mention of Vesper, the Quantum organization, and in the real world, we've had a four year gap between films which also contributed to it feeling like a much later mission. I think that was more of an implied thing...but what I meant is how they went to that storyline so quickly after rebooting, especially since CR/QOS revolved around one storyline.
