Randy Lahey
Do you think the reason Axl doesn't release new material is because all it does is advertise that this band is not GNR? I don't think anybody who listened to the Chinese Democracy single or Oh My God thought that this was new music from Guns N'F'N Roses. Axl fucked himself as an artist by keeping the name. I miss Axl more as a recording artist than as the lead singer for Guns N' Roses. Edited August 7, 2013 by Randy Lahey
Hollywood Gunner
Nah its pretty much just cuz he needs someone to push him, or as he would so eloquently put it, make him "sacrifice his own well-being" and right now he doesnt have that...Maybe the baby'll do it lol
axlsalinger
On one level this makes sense, but in reality nothing accomplishes this more than a nostalgia act for AFD with only one remaining member in the group.
gunsfanoldie
If that were the reason, he should have dropped the name years ago. I don't think your reason is actually why he's not releasing music, but if it was he would only be hurting himself by depriving us and him of his own solo music and also ruining the GNR name in the process. When you keep the name GNR and make such a big fucking fuss about it, don't be a baby and not release any music with it. You've already done your damage keeping the name, making more music won't make it worse.
Randy Lahey
I think living up to the name means more to Axl than people might think given his actions. Edited August 7, 2013 by Randy Lahey
LTD
Axl doesn't release new material because there are no current, finished, canned and set-for-release songs.
axlsalinger
I think living up to the name means more to Axl than people might think given his actions.I agree with this, but how many years have to go to waste before he realizes that all he's doing is damaging the brand? liers
He never said he wanted this band to be old GnR. He owns the rights to the name and tours it as GnR. Like it or not, technically speaking it's GnR.
Axl_morris
He'll be back, he obviously takes great care about songs being worthy of the legacy.chinese was a good album a lot of production going on but so did the illusions albums. From starting a new band and being in his 40's it was a solid album.next album? Hopefully see it within the year but there might be some writer block or lack of drive to release it... i mean hes a millionaire that's toured the world stadiums 25 years ago.. what's he got to prove in his 50's? wasted
Whatever caused the delay it alter the space time continuum of GNR. Its 5 years since CD, it feels like 10. They really need a double cd to fill the void.
Rustycage
I think he knows that unreleased material can't be rejected and there's safety in that. It's better to leave people wanting more than to give them turds.
ll_tj1
I find it strange everyone is saying Axl doesn't have, or will not hand over new music, when we have serious reason to believe he already has turned over new material to the label as far back as 2010.
