Why Axl's last interviews were boring?

Recommended Posts

The Elton comparison is apples and oranges. Back then Axl was just asked to present an award and wasn't involved in the dealings with the "hall of fame".

The main reason aside Axl not knowing what HOF is about is..surpise surprise...him not wanting to share the same stage with Slash..The whole scenario was just sad and ugly when seeing Myles perform with old GnR members..This whole HOF induction goes as bad scenario in GnR history..Axl will have to live with the backlash to his grave with this decision not to attend..Nevermind the HOF and their money hungry bitches..How about getting there for the FANS?? I don't care the institution of HOF..this was about GnR alone and us fans..Axl's decision not to attend was a punch to the fans faces..the people who suffer from Axl's bullshit are his fans..
So you admit that your argument about Elton holds no water. Cool.

He basically calls Guns a solo project in that interview. Even he knows the real GN'R was an actual band and this version is just a solo venture.

As for the TV shows, I'm sure the interviewers are given a list of things not to ask him or else he'd be bombarded with questions about Slash.

Why Axl's last interviews were boring:-

1. He is such a recluse that interviewers want him to be comfortable and not cancel due to any trigger.

2. Most of them are unaware/dont care about current GNR happenings (if there are any).

3. Classic GNR had fortunately/unfortunately many stories and characters in the band. The current/Chinese session members arent exactly exciting to ask about. Do you really think the current media cares what Chris Pitman's favorite horror movies are? But they will ask ex members that now and then and it will still turn out to be part of an exciting interview.

4. They are exhausted by the mismanagement. Eddie trunk did say in a spoken word tour that he,don and jim were ready to collapse by the time the interview was finally in place. You can actually see at the very end that Jim Florentine was caught mid yawn when eddie asked him "Jim you wanna ask Axl something" and he stopped his yawn midway and said "no".

Also, his Jimi Kimmel story about Halloween Christmas tree or what kind of bands is/was he into answer in Eddie's interview were pathetic, almost jaw drop bizarre.

I don't see what's so wrong about the Halloween Tree story. It made Axl seem like a really friendly and funny guy: "What, you don't have a Halloween Tree?"

I actually think that is maybe one of the best parts of an interview we have had in a long time -- and that is what is pathetic about it.

Because Axl the adult rock star does not wish to discuss matters that are not appropriate for him or something that the fans want to hear. He actually does not care about his fans, nowadays to me he is this distant figure that emerges every now and then with mr A$$bah to loot some more money to keep his mansion running.

What's the point of interviewing someone or doing an interview if you can't get an answer for the only question "real fans" want to know -- sooner than chinese democracy isn't really saying much of anything so why bother?

"Real fans" don't all belong to the same groupthink machine, that is to say, they don't all have uniformly identical opinions. Sorry.

There are many fans who enjoyed the interviews which some are (quite dramatically, mind you) portraying as "boring."

Axl himself is boring. That's why the interviews are boring.

The man can't go anywhere without his mommy-figure. I mean come the fuck ON. At least be seen in public with starlets or models or hookers or anything other than a matronly mommy-figure.

Axl must have some nice stories to tell, and the general public/casual fans will enjoy watching him on tv telling fun stories and jokes. The Halloween Tree story is cool. The diehard fans are aware Axl very rarely talks to the media, so they might think Axl is losing great oportunities to give an update about new music. I'd say that's how I feel. If you're on TV, take some time to talk about the music, which is what really matters. Too bad he doesn't care. He has The official site, the official fan club, HTGTH, Mygnr, Facebook, Twitter to communicate with the fanbase, he chooses not to (not anymore anyway). And dont give me the "He dont comes here becouse of you trollz hatersz" excuse. It's pathetic.

Axl is a lot of things. Boring is not one of them imo.

What was with DJ Ashba on That Metal Show when he just sits there quiet and Axl talks alone to the hosts?

They already did an interview with DJ beforehand, so he just figured people wanted to hear what Axl had to say, which was the right call imo.

This over shyness is not his best look.

He looked fucking terrified on Kimmel's show. It was like a POW tape.

it was reminiscent of that NBA vid where he had no eyebrows and he was acting like he was 10 years old and being super shy

Except for giving an exact date on a new album, which is always bad until shit is finalized, Axl's answered all of these questions a billion times.

He does not want a reunion, he can see a one-off gig with ex-players here and there, there was a lot of legal issues, record company BS, band members leaving, his general perfectionism and more that caused the delay of Chinese Democracy and the list goes on.

Outside of use die-hards, who want specifics on minute things he probably doesn't care about (What did Slash do? What influence does Beta have? What happened in 2002?), he's basically covered everything else in the general media (which usually bashes him no matter what he does).

Blah, blah, blah. What is the status of the next album, and when will it be released? Guns is probably one of the only bands in the world that treat the question of new material like it's an insult.

If Axl doesn't want to release anymore albums, he can just say so. Allowing the fans to know the reasons of why it hasn't come out yet is not too much to ask for. It's been 5 years since Chinese was released. 15 songs in 20 years. Give us a real update.

I agree, but why do people still want to know all the other shit?

Maybe because they are fans. Fanatics. It's not like "the other shit" (reunion, legal issues, record company bullshit, etc) is personal creepy shit. It pertains to the Gn'R saga, the music, and Axl as a musician.

Besides, his "tip of the iceberg" open letter (and different interviews) indicated he is interested in sharing that kind of information with the fans in the future. Personally, I think the "not in this lifetime" comment was enough, and his position on it is clear, but we don't know much about the other subjects in the Gn'R world.
