Fitha_whiskey
What a comeback for the Yankees against Cleveland, who was hotter than hot coming into the playoffs. The Yankees are feeling pretty confident now- could be a team of destiny. Then again, Houston could demolish them, who the hell knows?

downzy
Could believe it was still going when I got back in the car from the GNR concert around 11:50 and the game was still on. Crazy game. Never thought the Astros would be up 3 to 2.
downzy
Sad loss announced today of Roy Halladay. Easily the Jays best pitcher and arguably one of the greatest of his generation. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/baseball/mlb/roy-halladay-killed-plane-crash-1.4391632

Him and Judge in the same lineup, just hitting their prime. Wow. Could go down in the books with Ruth/ Gehrig and Mantle/ Maris. Then of course there’s Sanchez and Bird, who almost every team would kill to have in the 3-4 holes. Merry fuckin Xmas Yankee fans!
classicrawker
The Giancarlo Stanton/ Aaron Judge Bash Brother II era start now! The Bronx Bombers are back! Now all we need to do is resign CC and possibly trade for young stud starter, like the Pirates Gerrit Cole or the Rays Archer, and we have a good chance of going to the big dance in 2018. Can't wait for the season to begin! Edited December 16, 2017 by classicrawker
downzy
That's crazy. Should be an exciting year for the Yankees in 2018, offensively at least.
classicrawker
Sabathia resigns with the Yankees for one year @ $10 million..............if he pitches anywhere near like he did last season that is a bargain..........they now have a rotation of C.C. Sabathia, Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, Sonny Gray and Jordan Montgomery with Chad Green going into Spring Training as a potential starter and stud rookie RP Chase Adams most likely starting at AAA Scranton as insurance.............that would give us 7 potential starters unless Green goes back into the BP where he was lights out last season..... If they all stay resonably healthy, and Tanaka pitches like he did the second half of the season, with our offense and bullpen I like our chances...........Still think Cashman trades for another young starter, like Cole, but he has the luxury of taking his time and not being held for ransom so can protest his best prospects............It is a long season and you can never have enough starting pitching.......... Yankees also talking with Todd Frazier's Agent..it is obvious Todd is a local NJ boy, and is dying to stay a Yankee, but I think he can get more years and $$$ elsewhere...would love to have him back as he is a great clubhouse player and an excellent third baseman andwho, while not hitting for average, does have power but after trading Headley to free up $$$ doubt the Yankees are offering big $$$............ On another subject the Dodgers just made an incredible salary dump trade with the Braves...........great trade for the Dodgers shedding all those bad contracts......... http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/21785774/atlanta-braves-trade-matt-kemp-los-angeles-dodgers-adrian-gonzalez-brandon-mccarthy-scott-kazmir-charlie-culberson Gonzalez was immediately designated for assignment which means with his contract he will become a FA as no one is claiming him...Whoever picks him up can have him for the minimum and the Braves pay the rest of his $22.36 Million contact in 2018. Whn he was healthy the man could hit so will be interesting to see who takes a chance on him.........He did not seem to enjoy his time there but would he go back to Boston as they can use a 1B........ classicrawker
Nice article on the NJ.Com website about the Yankees starting pitching... http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2017/12/breaking_down_yankees_internal_starting_pitcher_ca.html#incart_river_index WHen you look at it it is actually pretty solid with Tanaka having the only above 4+ ERA which was the result of his brutal first half..... Here’s how the Yankees’ rotation shakes out based on last years stats......... No. 1 Luis Severino: 14-6, 2.98 ERA, 31 starts, 193 1/3 IP No. 2 Masahiro Tanaka: 13-12, 4.74 ERA, 30 starts, 178 1/3 IP No. 3 Sonny Gray: 10-12, 3.55 ERA, 27 starts, 162 1/3 IP No. 4 CC Sabathia: 14-5, 3.69 ERA, 27 starts, 148 2/3 IP No. 5 Jordan Montgomery: 9-7, 3.88 ERA, 29 starts, 155 1/3 IP Throw in Green, Cessa, Warren and Adams as insurance I think the Yankees are O.K. even if they don't pick up another starter as long as everyone stays healthy which is a big if.......... classicrawker
First Yankee spring training game on the 23rd against the Tigers......really looking forward to this season......would love the Yanks to grab another quality starter but they have some internal options so ok with going into the season with what they have...I would pay to see Judge and Giancola take batting practice...... classicrawker
First day the Yankees took batting practice and the team opened the Tampa stadium an hour early so fans could watch Judge and Stanton take their swings. They estimate there were close to 1500 fans there just to watch them take batting practice. Judge hit 2 out and Stanton hit 4 but no HR Derby moonshots. Stanton got a standing ovation from the fans when he left the cage which amazed him.......you're not in Miami anymore Giancarlo!!.............. http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/97955/all-rise-giancarlo-stanton-joins-aaron-judge-for-first-round-of-bp In other news the Red Sox finally sign J.D. Martinez 5 years 110 Mill with opt out after 2 years.....it is going to be fun watching the Yankees/ Sox games again.............. downzy
2 minutes ago, classicrawker said: Maybe time to sell and rebuild for the Jays? They should have done that last year, but the ownership/management always takes a middle of the road approach that almost never goes anywhere. The team still has the potential to have great starting pitching (Stroman, Happ, Sanchez, Estrada), decent fielding, and still some powerful bats in the lineup. The problem, as always, the bullpen. It will be another middling season unfortunately.
classicrawker
Gary Sanchez crushes a HR over the scoreboard today..........man it is going to be fun watching him, Judge, and Stanton hitting tape measure shots this year.....I can't remember the last time I was so excited for the season tot start https://www.mlb.com/video/sanchezs-mammoth-two-run-homer/c-1878656983
Fitha_whiskey
Wow that was a fuckin bomb... I read the other day that the yankees have sold 600,000 more home tickets than at the same point last year!!! Because you’re gonna see shit like that almost nightly. Imagine a 2- 5 batting order of Judge, Stanton, Sanchez and Bird with each having the potential of hitting 40+ hr's With the average ticket price for a Yankee game at $101 and change, They have already more than paid for Stanton's salary.....if he hits anywhere near like he did last year he is going to love playing in N.Y. with 40K screaming fans every game and the bleachers creatures calling his name..... downzy
Jays are off to a better start than myself and everyone thought while missing some of their biggest bats (Tulo, Morales, and now Donaldson). They'll likely regress, but at least they're playing some fun baseball right now. Stanton might be missing the sunny skies of Florida. What the hell is up with Darvish? classicrawker
The cream always rises to the top...................Stanton will turn it around...he is too good a hitter not to.......it is not the hitting that is killing the Yankees it is the pitching and the bullpen right now..........Should get better once the weather heats up but the Yankees may regret they did not ante up to get Cole from the Bucs as it is not often a young stud like him is offered for trade........They may have to overpay for a starter come trade deadline but lucky for them they have one of the best minor league systems in baseball so have the chips to do it..............
