I have been to the grocer's to find a pumpin, picked up the kids at the kindergarden and the first thing they talked about was Halloween, hollowed out the pumpkin together with the kids, cut out a face, watched my wife dress them up in pricess outfits ("No, I am a fairy!", "I want to be a dinosaur!"), had kids coming to our door to trick and treat, stuffed the pumpkin with a bulb with alrternating lights, and eaten candy.
