Security at the show was really good for me. Backpacks were allowed. I got searched 3 times before getting in. And they searched my bag.

There's no way to control such a large crowd. Maybe some security half assed it on the searches.

Well shame on them if there were half assed searches

I thought security was shite to be honest, I was gently patted down.. if I had put something in my back pocket I'd have got it in no problem. And with the amount of people smoking weed I'd say security was pretty lax.

I'm not saying there was. I was searched thoroughly 3 times.

But I guess it's possible if someone managed to get a flare in.  I suppose it's impossible to search 80000 people and bags etc.

That's the danger of the world we live in.

Its not good enough is it, you can see hi vis vests (security)  near to were the flares set off theres no attempt to take it off them or extiguish it

Clearly prepared? He clearly wasn't and it showed. Once again he's gonna get shredded by social media because of one bad performance of one song. Now everyone will think he's shit and all of his ridiculously impressive vocal work of late will be erased. All because he didn't prepare.

Not to mention the fact that anyone going to the first 3 or 4 shows won't get to experience Axl at 100%. Clean Jungles and Nightrains until about Madrid or Zürich unfortunately.

I think he was. Like I said it wasnt Axl/DC or Houston but a lot better than previous tour starts. Check out reviews from people who attended the concert.

It shouldnt be impossible to search 80,000 people if it stops these people & saves lives. Head of security should look at this & be asking questions

Yeah but if I was there I probably would've loved it too haha. The fact that people were impressed is actually a testemant to how good he actually is if even at like 30% of his ability people were happy. But he still drastically underperformed imo.

Where to begin...

Didn't get in until after 5, by that time the place was pretty full but luckily I was able to beat my way through Gold Circle to get a nice spot on front of the end of the left runway. When I heard Duff's opening notes to It's So Easy I genuinely nearly shed a tear, I feel like I've waited a lifetime for this  Most of the crowd around me were clearly die hard fans, we all sung along every word. Some dude crowd surfed a few times. I'm pretty sure a much bigger dude beat the shit out of him afterwards. :P Couple of people stoned and pissed and completely off their faces but what can you do.

ChiDem is absolutely bangin' live. The Slash intro, the guitar play between him and Richard, Axl sounded amazing on it too. Jungle was fucking unreal. Axl's scream was intense. The crowd went wild and I got absolutely crushed

Fortus seems to be doing more solos now, off the top of my head I remember the end of Better he was up front with Slash and did a great job. He definitely seems to be more of a member than a 'hired gun'. Estranged was incredible. Slash's tone on that song is just stunning. There was a moment where Axl was right in front of us singing "young at heart, but I'm only 28" and then did this  During Live and Let Die I looked over at my friend, who has also never seen GNR before, he was standing with his mouth wide open looking absolutely blown away haha.

After Civil War Axl started talking about how they're going to "try something" and talked about how they wished they were playing it under better circumstances, he genuinely seemed emotional. It was spine tingling. You could hear the emotion in Axl's voice throughout the whole song. It was beautiful. Fortus nailed the solo. Coma was fantastic. So full of fury and anger. When I heard the opening riff of Out Ta Get Me I was fucking ecstatic. I thought there was no way we were getting OTGM. The encore was great, Patience, etc. Couldn't believe they did TWAT again. Axl definitely struggled a few times in the beginning verses but he gave it his all during the outro. I think this is definitely Slash's best TWAT solo. He's still loosely sticking to the Buckethead melody but it just sounded better and more cohesive this time. Paradise City with all the fireworks and shit was magical.

I was really surprised at how much Axl talked between songs and joked around, he was clearly in a great mood and loving the crowd. It was amazing to watch him, he still has that same intensity of 92. You can tell he's not just phoning it in. Vocally he sounded good, very powerful, hit every note. I know a lot of his vocals were clean but it doesn't sound like 'mickey' at all.

Slash sounded incredible, but was very rarely seen on my side of the stage lol.

Duff is the fucking man. Genuinely think we made eye contact a few times. Sadly I wasn't close enough to get one of his picks.

Fortus was practically invisible when he wasn't playing solos, I was quite surprised about that. I don't remember him once coming out on the runway. In videos I've seen of other concerts he seems to interact more with the crowd... strange.

Frank killed it on drums as far as I'm concerned. Even though I've always said his kit sounds like shit, I have to say in person it didn't. Drums were on point.

Dizzy and Melissa.. I actually think Melissa does more than Dizzy. He literally spent most of his time playing the bongos or shaking maracas or something. Melissa's backing vocals are great.

The venue is amazing when you're inside. A really stunning setting for a concert. However getting in and out is a fucking nightmare, and if something like what happened in Manchester were to happen here I'm pretty sure a lot of people would have gotten trampled. As I said security wasn't great at all, they really didn't do much of a search. I'm also fairly certain if you timed it right you could easily get into the gold circle without a wristband. They didn't check mine and let plenty of people in with bottles (including me).

Can you remember what mcBob said at the start I was so filled with excitement and happiness I can't remember hahah?

@MrSoftie According to setlistfm they played "You Know My Name" Chris Cornell's song he did for Casino Royale over the PA at the end of the concert instead of "Far Away Eyes." Is that true? Do you remember hearing it?

Yeah they did :)

That's cool, I love it when they change little things like that. They did the same for Leonard Cohen when they played "Everybody Knows" at the end as well.

Glad you had a great time and you got an awesome setlist! :)

Yes this is 100% true. Another nice touch.

Also just in relation to security, it was very lax indeed. Lots of backpacks. Actually made a conscious effort to move away from some folks who I saw had just set a rucksack on the ground and didn't seem to be into the show at all. Quite scary.

Considering security was shit hot its worrying that a flare got set off at around the :40 second mark i know a lot of people will say its only a flare etc but by getting something like that into the arena i shudder to think it could have been something a lot worse. I thought there were no bags & there were pat downs can anyone wweho was there confirm this.

I have to say security was alarmingly bad. I had a backpack with me that I was keeping my hoodie and headphones in, the security guy hmmd and hahd about whether he could let me in with it. I told him what I had and that I had no problem ditching the bag if need be and wearing my headphones round my neck but the thing is he didnt look inside the bag or squeeze it even. I could have had anything and my fainceé had a big bag too and we were both admitted with them and saw plenty in there too. Other than that I had to put my phone, vape and coins in a wee plastic bag for no reason as they werent looked at either.

Alarming to say the least but the Republic of Ireland is very laid back whereas up here in Northern Ireland, cos its the UK, security is as tight as a ducks asshole.

I thought the updated info during the week said "no backpacks or rucksacks would be allowed" As for bottles or cans they've never been allowed for years. Knebworth 1985  for  Deep Purple all bottles & cans were taken off people trying to take them into the arena by security ( local hells angels) you could buy beer inside in plastic glasses. Milton Keynes 1986 Simple Minds no bottles or cans. Donington 1988 you could by a gallon container outside the arena & empty your beer in to take inside after that i think everywhere had the "no refreshments allowed to be taken in the arena" policy. The only thing about that is the shocking price the charge inside the venues.

Security wasn't great. My brother had a flask of Jameson in his pants and they let him in. Bit of a later down but nothing much.

Very good gig, but out of the 4 times I've seen them that was probably the world at of the pack. Good performances but there were some vocal issues (TWAT) and the sound was up and down.

For me gnr will never top the RDS in '06. But MAYBE the next show in Madrid will blow it out of the water?

On the contrary actually, the only negative remark I've read so far in the comment section of an overly positive review of the gig was about how Axl should hit the salad bar and get in shape! ;-D
