GN'R comment on late starts etc

Any of the shows I have attended ( GNR and other bands) have started on time, they all started late, some more than others and people don´t make big deals of it. It´s something normal and more usual than you guys think. We all have our own lives and responsibilities but it only happens one day. It´s not like we do it every day of the year.

Also, when you go to a GNr show you DO know there are a lot of possibilities for it to start late, it´s nothing new, it´s alwasy been this way with GNR so, the moaning is pretty stupid imo.

Every heard of chucking a sicky. Arranging a day off in advance. Not hard.

We all don't work minimum wage jobs mate some of us have responsiblities to perform at work ...Also some of us have children which require arranging baby sitters..amazing how people who live with Mom and Dad or have no responsibilities make judgements........

Wow, way to look down on people who works hard for the minimum wage, that's great. (No I don't work a minimum wage job myself so I'm not saying it cause I felt personally attacked)

People working mimimum wage jobs also have kids (but a much lower salory to pay for a babysitter with) and I doubt that many of them live with mom and dad (in my experience people who work minimum wage jobs or poorly paid jobs in general are usually people who don't have any other choice or work the jobs to pay for school to eventually get a better paying job)

Amazing how people who don't work minimum wage jobs make judgements, huh?

Anyways, back on topic:

Someone mentioned how it would be a good idea to print on the concert tickets that the show may start later than scheduled so that people are made aware of that (it would actually be really good if it would say so on the website you buy the ticket on as well)

It made me think that it did say that on the GNR ticket I have from their show in Denmark last year.

Here it is, my ticket from last years show in Denmark.

I'll translate for you: "Dørene åbnes kl. 18:30. Ventetid inden showstart må påregnes!" = "Doors open at 6:30 pm. Waiting time before show start is to be expected!"

100_6067.jpg

Here's pix of my Kiss and Mötley Crüe tickets and on neither of those does it say waiting time is to be expected, it only states when the doors will open. All 3 tickets were bought from "Billetlugen" (a Ticketmaster company I believe) and the Kiss show was played at the same venue GNR played at and only two days after GNR played there, so it's definetly not something that is printed on all concert tickets, only on the GNR ones.

So as much as the late starts may annoy and frustrate people you can't save you haven't been warned :shrugs: I could be wrong but that's how I saw the FB status as - a warning, a heads up for those who wouldn't feel like waiting for an uncertain amount of time for the band or is not able to as they have to be back home at a certain time for work, school, their kids etc and I agree - it sucks for fans who need a specific time for show start to know if they can be back in time for work, school etc. Really, I understand that. I had to travel 4 hours to see GNR (4 hours to get there, 4 hours to get back home) but luckily a coworker of mine said yes to switch vacation weeks (she was supposed to be on vacation the week GNR and Kiss played Denmark) with me cause I asked her as soon as the show date was confirmed.

It has to be Fernando or someone within that "gnr innner circle" who runs the facebook page. If it were an actual record company person, they would be doing the disaster control method... such as;

"Mr.Rose has been trying his best to hit the stage on time, but due to opening acts running past their respective stage times and unforeseen issues due to weather things haven't worked to Axl & The rest of the bands advantage....Rememeber before any bands hit the stage the previous bands setup has to be completely torn down and cleaned up, and the next bands equipment has to be set up and in working order, and when you figure that in with pouring rain, etc there will be times the band hits the stage late"

Meh, Guns n' Roses facebook/twitter posts can say whatever they want. It's still incredibly disrespectful to your fans. But that's not anything Axl is likely to understand anyway.

Is it "rock and roll" not to care about your fans; the people who support you?

But I suppose you can't really see it that way when your head is way far up Axl's ass. I hear it's dark in there. Smelly too.

If thats their stance then so be it, but write that shit on the add and make people aware of it BEFORE they buy their tickets. And dont pull that shit saying "everyone should know this by now". News flash, everyone doesnt know, and saying the show will start at 8:00pm and then hitting the stage at 11:00pm is misleading and wrong.

Granted, this posting helps, but the ticket should plainly read show will start somewhere between 8-11pm, just so there is no confusion.

And them showing up 2 hours late for Rio WAS disrespectful. Thats a festival, those people had been there for a long time.

I think this is an absolutely arrogant and dichkeaded response from GNR. I've been a fan since around 1998 when I was 9 years old, and i've seen them live about 10 times, but i'm starting to lose respect after seeing how Axl treated the fans at Rio, and seeing this response which basically says "i don't give a fuck about the fans, if you don't like that don't come to my shows." i'm sorry Axl, you've written a few good songs but you're a fucking asshole. you're old, fat, your new music isn't that great, and you['re the laughing stock of the music industry.... you're certainly in no position to be acting like you're a king or something. :fuckyou:

Nobody is forcing you to buy a ticket and attend his shows, or to spend your time on a GnR forum.

If a band or singer brought out as much negative emotion in me as Axl does in you, I would leave that band forever.

But instead you choose to come cry and moan everyday about a singer and band you don't like.....weird.

When I saw them with Metallica in 1992, they were 2 1/2 hours late. It took them about an hour to set up their massive stage, and then the wait began. I didnt mind because I was only 15 and had nothing to do the next day, but I saw many people leave, and others were so mad they were chanting for Metallica to come back on stage. The sold out show was only about 60% full by the time they came out. And it wasnt like people left right after Metallica played, they tried to stick it out but it just got to late for them, mostly the older crowd. The show was fantastic, and I had the time of my life. Best show ive ever seen.

So for this tour. they are playing in Greenville, SC on Halloween. How cool would it be to see GNR on Halloween? Probably amazing right? I was all ready to go. I was able to get the day of the show off work, but couldnt get a second day off (just to much work I have to do). After this statement, im definitely not going, just cant do it. WAY more important things in life that have to be taken care of. And not knowing when I will get home just doesnt work. Its a 3 hour drive from where I live, I go to work at 7:00am, cant do it on no sleep.

Point is, when I was 15 I could do whatever the fuck I wanted, now I have resposibilities and cant just do it. For some this is no problem, for others it is. So people saying we are pussies for not being able to just suck it up and go, thats not cool. For some its just really not possible to just say fuck it, we have scheules we have to keep. Now, I dont get to see one of my favorite bands I havent seen in 19 years because he just doesnt care about our issues? Thats just not cool.

I seriously hope this tour flops on its ass and Axl learns a lesson from all of this (which I doubt he will). You just dont treat people like that, its not "rock n roll", its you being a big fucking douchebag. And while I will still enjoy your timeless music, you will never get another cent from me.

what the fuck are you talking about, dickface? i've never said a negative thing about this band on these forums, ever. maybe you should do a bit of reading before you start throwing accusations around, because you now look like an absolute idiot. :fuckyou: :fuckyou: :fuckyou:

and for the record, i could care less what time they take the stage... i always take the next day off anyhow. it's the fucking ATTITUDE that's not cool. that rio performance was TERRIBLE, not becase Axl sounded like shit, but because of his piss poor attitude towards the fans. and this facebook response is more of the same. NOT COOL to treat your fans like that.

if you wanna show up late, then book your gigs late.

Slash's tour was so so so much more about "Rock and fucking Roll", and the gigs I attended started EXACTLY at 9:30 pm, no 1 minute more!

Fuck off!

Rock and fucking Roll

Slash and Fergie on Stage

:rofl-lol:

Fergie wasn't on Slash's tour smartass. It was Myles Kennedy, who imo, sounds pretty damn good singing the GnR, VR, & Snakepit tunes. Atleast he doesn't get winded & forget the lyrics! No excuse to fuck up the lyrics when you have fucking teleprompters on the stage, as far as I'm concerned. Any more Axl just seems to be too hit n' miss, imo. Some shows he's "on", and when he is, it's fantastic. But then there are plenty where he just doesn't sound very good, IMO.

Thing is, the band is in a position where they still have lots of tickets for sale. They are intending to play arenas. They are offering this product, and supply is obviously exceeding demand at the moment. Despite this, they are telling a big part of the potential buyers not to bother? It would make more sense to do so if people were still lining up for tickets, or if they were aiming for smaller venues. As a fan it is easy to be concerned when they make unexplainably bad career moves like that. It's like they are completely detached from reality as we know it.

I don't think this was Axl though. But what is terrible is that the band seems to lack proper management and promotion. You have got Fernando who has literally grown up in the world according to Axl Rose, is he the right person to be handling public relations via FB and Twitter? He is probably the person in this world with the smallest capability to understand the public's point of view in this. This management is all a fucking joke.

Let's hear Axl sing it these days. Oh yeah, he doesn't. Maybe there's a reason for that. I stand by my opinion that Myles does just fine. Does he sound exactly like Axl, nope, but I don't think that's his intention. Myles also wasn't out of breath, forgetting the words either ;)

I don't care how late Axl and GNR are as long as they show up and rock!

I've seen plenty of musicians and bands who started late, but they rocked for 2 hours so no one cared!

To quote Sebastian Bach " It's a fuckin rock show so no one cares how late you stay up! lol So damn true.

I'm just a little worried because the venue in Dallas is an outdoor venue and I think there is a time limit due to some noise ordinance rule, but since it's a Saturday night show and it's GNR, I think the city of Dallas can let this stupid rule go for this show.

If the people who live around the venue don't like it, too fuckin bad!

Pointless.

Axl Rose will go on stage late, like he absolutely always has. Since before a lot of the people on this board were even born.

So - deal with it.

It's been pointed out before that this is a fan forum, and it is focused on the new incarnation of the band (hence the 'former gunners' section.) It is, in fact, against the rules to bash the band. Either accept them as they are (you know, like a fan does) or just go away. At the very least, just go into the 'Anythnig Goes' section. The main forum should be for the members who are behaving the way the forum was designed for.

Of course, if we do that we're 'stuck up Axl's ass' or should 'go to that OTHER forum' right?

Pathetic.

This isn't bashing, this is expressing the view that the late starts are not an ok thing. Disagreeing =/= bashing

So we are never allowed to have a negative view on anything the band does? We cant have different opinions in this section? We should all just follow them like blind sheep?

I know I havent been here lately, but when did this place turn into htgth?

Thanks for saying exactly what I knew you'd say.

I don't write the rules, but I'm a fan of this band. A fan doesn't talk about the singer being washed up and terrible and fat... why would he?

If you don't support the band, you aren't a fan.

and yes, you should totally have an outlet for your negative views... just not in the section that is supposed to be dedicated to fandom - because it doesn't fit the definition.

I've said several times before that there ought to be a completely separate section for negative talk. It's one thing to have a contrary opinion or to say something like "I liked this better" but it gets pretty ridiculous when 3/4 of posts are negative on a fan board.

It seems like it's simply an outlet for negative people. Well, fine, but that's not what I signed up for, isn't what the intent of the forum is and certainly doesn't do any good.

Freedom of speech is fine, but what's wrong with just doing it in a different place? Are you more important than someone else?
