  1. A better quality mix and production is still interesting to listen to. Still laughing at people who compared GNR to The Rolling Stones. Just heard Mess It Up on Spotify and it's on instant repeat for me. It's about a bad relationship as well, but in a weird happy dancy radio friendly way lol. Still like it a lot.
  2. GNR is a great band, but please stop comparing them to legends like The Rolling Stones. It doesn't even matter how the latest Stones record sounds Their complete catalog is insane. So many great songs...
  3. Which is why I sometimes don't even want to know too much about artists. I just want to enjoy the music. I'm way too afraid I might dislike them in person so much I would stop listening to their music. Half of what Axl wrote about Seymour just had me thinking "grow some balls and get the f*** over it already you little whiney cunt" Let alone his actions where he has lashed out at his exes. I've been lied to, cheated on, got my heart broken... felt like utter shit. Still didn't do the shit Axl has. I can get really emotional, sure... but after a while I just shrug my shoulders and move on with life.
  4. Get fired for trying to convince Axl to sing in his baritone voice more and create a classic rock album with Duff and Slash. And pay Izzy to help write the songs. Keep Richard Fortus for touring etc. And start releasing a couple of new songs as soon as they're ready to keep people interested for the new album.
  5. GNR at least 3 times I can remember (Ahoy Rotterdam, Gelredome Arnhem, and once in Goffertpark Nijmegen). Too lazy to check the dates, but NuGuns twice (once with Bumblefoot, and one time with Ashba) and once with Duff and Slash. And I went to Velvet Revolver at the Heineken Music Hall once. And have seen Duff with Walking Papers. All of this in The Netherlands, where I live. So I have seen Axl 3 times, Duff 3 times, Fortus 3 times and Slash twice. Never saw Izzy live unfortunately.
  6. Nope... my dad had his own engineering business and thought I would be a good successor to him. I was pretty good at math and science as well, so that was promising to him. But in the end I liked software engineering a lot more... so after I quit as a CAD engineer, I pursued a career in software development and have been doing that for 20 years now It might be a good environment for Fernando though... not many women around on the jobs I have worked at lol. Nobody to abuse. And the women in engineering would probably kick his ass.
  7. As someone how grew up with a father who had his own business... family does need contracts and very clear rules about what is business and what is family. I have worked for my father 5 years and it destroyed our relationship. I'm not a workaholic like he was and we had way too many discussions about that until I just quit and told him to f*** off. I had my own career after that, nice 9 to 5 jobs instead of 24/7 work all the time.
  8. Interesting... Duff should be sensitive to this indeed, having 2 daughters and all. I have a daughter myself, and it really changes the way you look at the world. All of a sudden you are on the lookout, making sure no creepy men are around lol. I would have fired Fernando immediately.
  9. Rammstein is done without their vocalist. Definitely not the same situation. Marilyn Manson fired Twiggy... that must have hurt as well, but he did it anyway. Fernando is nobody in comparison. It's not Axl, Duff or Slash we're talking about. He's gone.
  10. It only leads to abuse when there are abusers around.
  11. It's not Richard I'm worried about. If given the chance he would be in the studio tomorrow to record new songs for GNR. Together with Duff and Slash. Axl disappearing is the scary part. And Axl expected to be working on an album even more so lol. Part of me keeps thinking he'll retire soon. Quit while you're still ahead. His voice giving out is a warning sign. Baritone Axl could still kick ass, if he wants to. If...
  12. Looks like Richard Fortus made some new friends This does feel like a goodbye though. Unless they start releasing music now, things will get really quiet. I do hope they will still release The General, Monsters and Atlas Shrugged.
  13. Yet so many other bands release albums... including Duff and Slash A reunion album with Duff and Slash however will spark more interest. And Duff and Slash will promote it if Axl doesn't feel like doing so.
  14. I'm hoping they release Monsters together with Atlas Shrugged now. And add The General digitally to the Perhaps single. So we get: Perhaps / The General Atlas Shrugged / Monsters And hopefully more new stuff in the future.
  15. So here we are... 20 years later, seeing Axl sing The General with Duff and Slash on the stage. Nobody would have believed this 20 years ago lol.
  16. Both songs are Slash in my humble (bad bedroom guitarist) opinion. Monsters is obvious, but The General too has typical Slash stuff. The tone and even a talkbox during the "don't know what to tell you now" part?
  17. You're probably right, but I keep hoping for a surprise (stupid me). Though I'd much rather hear Monsters live. I just can't see how Axl would sing The General without going full Mickey on it.
  18. The songs which made GNR famous are more than 30 years old. You can't expect the band to sound the same. Also, without Izzy on board, they will sound different anyway. Probably more like Velvet Revolver with Axl. Izzy is what gave this band a more traditional rock feel. Even though Slash shines on blues rock, it is not necessarily what he wants to create. Maybe people should listen to Slash his Halloween album. They might recognize him on The General afterwards What Axl has done on The General and Monsters is not a huge departure of what Slash likes to do. Keep that in mind. And a lot of music he has created with Myles Kennedy is just straight up modern rock: It's not that traditional or bluesy. I personally don't mind however, because I have quite a broad taste in music. If GNR never disbanded and would have kept creating music all these years, they would not sound the same as on AFD. Having Duff and Slash back is not some time machine that will teleport us back to those years. Izzy could change things a bit, but he won't come back.
  19. I can see a new album being released, but you'll probably won't like it. Because it's more than likely just more CD stuff. And even new stuff will sound more modern / different.
  20. Slash belongs to GNR. These new tracks prove it once again. His guitar work on Monsters is great. I don't even care how it sounded before.
