  1. The funny part about your comment - if you read Slash's book - is that Slash is quite shy on stage too. He hides his face behind his hair and sunglasses. https://www.loudersound.com/news/shy-slash-won-t-look-at-crowd The thing is, for someone to become as good as a guitar player as Slash (or Bucket), you have to spend an enormous amount of time playing guitar. And that's not necessarily a social event, especially when you're practicing something.
  2. Having Fortus tour with Slash's solo band would be nice actually. Fortus and Myles would probably get along great as well. Maybe Fortus could also guest on Slash his new album.
  3. Slash likes to surround himself with talented musicians that are easy to get along with. Myles Kennedy is a good example. Fortus fits the profile very nicely. He is humble, is very good at what he does, etc. And most importantly they are all guitar nerds lol. Slash once said about Myles Kennedy that he is more a guitar player "who also sings". And Mark Tremonti said of Myles "when you hear a heavy riff, don't automatically assume it's mine". Myles gets a lot of hate on this forum, but he's a great guitar player:
  4. They are an exception. It's crazy they're still around.
  5. It ended when Tommy Stinson had to leave to care for his daughter as a single father (and before that because he wanted to tour with The Replacements). This triggered the return of Duff (and later Slash). Then Ashba left when Slash came back. If Tommy never left, Ashba would have stayed as well... and there might not be a reunion.
  6. It's the mystery around it and how long it took. BlackBerry Smoke is releasing a new album and I'm like "ok, nice, I'll check it out when it becomes available" and that's it. BUT usually they do release some great songs which I enjoy, sometimes even more than with GNR. But just imagine the sheer time I've been reading about The General. I joined this forum in 2007 (!) and before that I was already lurking on HTGTH. It's crazy. After all this time I just want to hear the truth, quite literally. We've all been reading about the vault. The General is part of that mystique. It better not suck
  7. The weird thing is that Axl seems really happy on stage. Well, let's hope this is not the end. An Axl solo tour would also be an option.
  8. Usually money flows from one half of the population to another. Yes, a lot of people have money problems, but there is also a large group of people who only got richer / wealthier than they already were. In The Netherlands we never had so many millionaires as we have now. I'm not one of them though. 100 euro's per ticket is pretty much my limit too.
  9. Well, sometimes the wife likes music and I just tag along Aerosmith is her favorite band. I have nothing against Aerosmith, but hardly listen to it myself. But I know all the songs they play... so there's that. I have driven to Germany (from The Netherlands) just to see Aerosmith. I don't even do that for Guns N Roses. On a positive note she also introduced me to The Black Crowes, which became one of my favorite bands and the band we have seen the most live.
  10. We all know Slash has been working on the songs they released and are planning to release. "improvement" is also a very subjective thing. It all depends on what you're trying to achieve. Do you want the songs to sound like they're from the current lineup? Do you want the songs to sound more like classic GNR? Then letting Duff and Slash rework these songs is a definite improvement. Whether we like it or not.
  11. I'm just scared The General will suck honestly. Expectations for that song are way too high. And I will laugh my ass off and cry at the same time if it's just an instrumental without vocals
  12. After seeing Slash's instagram I can see why his account might be cancelled lol. There's a difference between watching weird shit on the internet and posting it yourself Slash
  13. Slash and Duff are already back... Izzy and Steven won't make much of a difference to the general public. I would like Izzy back as a songwriter though. This band needs more rock n roll.
  14. By The Sword has a sweet Slash solo on it... nice, totally forgot about that song. Even though I think Myles Kennedy is a very nice person, I also think it's great Slash will work with other vocalists again on his next solo album. This song with Andrew Stockdale shows us why.
  15. He started the band with Axl... without him, GNR might not even exist.
  16. We have no idea how the whole song sounds, do we? When you pick 30 seconds of Perhaps as a preview you can make it sound dark and heavy, but also like a piano ballad. Most of us have heard the cell phone clip and a concert intro with some orchestra, but we don't know how the rest of song the sounds. It might not be as dark as we expect it to be. Brain called it "a cool jam"
  17. Imagine people want you to play guitar infront of Slash
  18. I wonder how long it will take before YouTube takes it down. The leak has been removed as well a couple of weeks ago. The interesting part: "Video niet beschikbaar Deze video is niet meer beschikbaar vanwege een auteursrechtclaim door Universal Music Group" UMG claimed it.
  19. Bob is the reason we didn't get new music sooner. The *lots of bad words* Chinese Democracy was great when he heard it. I like the demo's and they should have released it. The costs only went up further after that conversation lol. Axl needed to get these songs out... maybe he would have written a lot of different stuff after CD if he was "done" with it sooner rather than later.
  20. RHCP and Metallica are in a different league than Guns N Roses nowadays. That might be hard to digest, but those bands kept releasing music, videos, did promotion, were on TV, etc. They're also more recent if that makes any sense. When I grew up as a teenager in the nineties RHCP and Metallica were on MTV every friggin day. If someone picked up guitar lessons the first thing they were taught were Metallica songs... Even Aerosmith had a comeback with movie soundtrack (Armageddon, 1998, I don't wanna miss a thing... I heard that song on the radio so much I got sick of it lol... "oh no, not again"). But Guns N Roses were on a hiatus. They were missing for quite a while. I'm 42 years old. Which makes most fans that saw Guns in their prime even older than me... I actually got into Guns N Roses because of Velvet Revolver Slither and Fall to Pieces caught my attention. Fall to Pieces even has a special meaning to me after I had a fight with my girlfriend back then and she didn't want to see me for a while. I listened to that song a million times probably. But again... Velvet Revolver were on TV in the early 2000's. There was a special about how they formed the band and overcame addictions etc. I heard Slither on the radio all the time. Guns N Roses doesn't come close to that kind of media attention and promotion. Not yet at least.
  21. They would probably have to start over then. The General very likely has a lot of high pitched screaming as well...
  22. My biggest gripe with new Guns N Roses music is usually that it's tinkered with too much. So early versions of songs usually sound better to my ears. But yeah, part of your thinking is true, also for me. Sometimes if I haven't heard a song in while (also not the leak) and I listen to the final version I seem to enjoy it more (because I have largely forgotten the details of both versions). Another part of the equation is that I can appreciate the more modern sound sometimes. I'm also a fan of Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails, so what Axl was trying to do isn't too far off from what I enjoy. Even though I'm also a Slash fan and like blues music, don't get me wrong. But once I enjoy a nice Finck or Buckethead solo, Slash can't really improve on it. But it doesn't mean I hate Slash's playing... far from it. Guess what I'm saying is it's a little bit of everything... death by a thousand cuts. Although the released version of Perhaps has really grown on me. And I'm still excited to hear The General after all these years. PS I also love the early demo's of AFD. They were a bit slower and longer than the release, and more raw. I like that.
  23. They could tease us with it lol... like play it for 30 seconds and then do something else
