I don't believe for a second that the band could continue without Slash again. Things were different back in '96. But in the modern day, they need him in order to keep moving forward since he is the star of the show.
If Slash calls it quits then Axl will definitely retire touring.
Yeah. I think if Slash hadn't returned I would have seen Axl retire soon. He didn't strike me as one wanting to tour until old age. But with Slash around things have changed, I can see them going on for a long time, with it being over the minute Slash leaves. At this point there is no point continuing GNR without Slash.
4 hours ago, rocknroll41 said:Slash will never leave, thanks to that ridiculous alimony of his. He’ll be playing Jungle, Sweet Child, etc over and over again, until the very end, just to pay those bills alone.
Seriously, could we stop pretending like Slash is the only guy who ever got a divorce? As if that fucking divorce will force him to work until he drops dead???

So the dates are set: In cinemas 12th November UK, 20th November US.

Is it just me that is noticing a large amount of Slash and Duff hate spilling out into almost every topic on this forum? Rewind back to 2016 for a minute. Slash and Duff returning allowed Guns N Roses to return to stadiums. Lots of people were saying that Slash was a beast and the star of the show. Axl was doing a fairly top notch job as well back then.
As Axl started to struggle vocally, Slash stepped up even more and carried the shows at times.
It didn't take long for the forum to turn though did it? Now apparently he is just there to collect a pay check, has no passion, just noodles. Lots of negative comments on his guitar playing.
Duff probably gets it even worse. There is often a real hatred towards him on here for no real reason at all as far as I can tell. People mocking him over the punk thing and so on
Not from me. Some take it too far.

Most of what Matt says in the book about the events that led to his firing from the band and about Paul Huge/Tobias is the same with what he had said in interviews previously. But there are a few new details and an inconsistency.
Matt says he was going to the rehearsals drunk, which pissed Axl off. One time when Axl wasn't there, Matt "bullied" Paul to make him leave. Paul was scared off and left the studio, but then told Axl what happened. Axl reprimanded Matt for being drunk and told him that from then on alcohol was prohibited in the studio. Matt kept getting frustrated with the rehearsals and one day, on purpose, he brought tequila and beer in the studio and started drinking.
Just goes to show what an arrogant and entitled douche Matt is. Why brag that you disrespected the wishes to not show up drunk for rehearsals?? Why even get there drunk in the first place?
As for the inconsistency. It's not that serious. Just an elaboration. Maybe both things happened.

Ah, ok, I've got it all mixed up... I also thought that the actors who played Eddie and Shauni were only there for the first two seasons, but I just read that they also did season 3. The show was probably at its best when that lawyer guy was still in it who couldn't make up his mind about being a lawyer or a lifeguard. The episodes I will never forget are the ones where one of them dies due to a shark attack and the one where Eddie sees a mysterious woman running on the beach at the end of the day, and it reminds him of his sister, so he goes looking for her. Both of them freaked me out as a young kid.
Yeah. They were on the show until episode 2 of season 3. Shame they left. I think the show hit their stride in the latter half of the first season, when they added John D. Cort. That episode with the 3 of them in Mexico (with the lawyer Craig), was hilarious. A shame both Craig and John only appeared as rare guests from Season 2 on. Yeah. That first shark episode was something. Back then I was so mad that Jill survived that shark attack and then they just let her die offscreen.

As a 90's kid, I grew up with shows like Baywatch. I think the first two seasons pre-Pamela were somewhat decent when they had more serious storylines, but after season 2 when they almost got cancelled, it became all about ratings and eye candy, with dreadful acting and storylines. For a kid probably still entertaining, but I can't imagine as an adult even remotely enjoying any of that now.
Actually they got cancelled after season 1. Then Hasselhoff and the creators took over, bought the show back, produced it themselves and brought it back not missing a beat. Yeah. The first 2 seasons are slightly different than later years. And yes, the simple things that always ended up with people having to be dramatically rescued with the lifeguards always having to breathe the life in the victim's bodies in the nick of time, the video montages and the sharks (didn't realize that there were so many episodes that featured sharks), become a bit tedious, but the storylines, even though on the light side, are actually entertaining, even after all these years. Since I can't go to the beach this year and also like Santa Monica/Venice/Malibu a lot, I had my beach fix, which is very welcome. Surprisingly there are many socially/environmentaly conscious storylines sprinkled throughout all seasons, which you actually wouldn't expect from a dumb show nicknamed Babewatch, so it actually is not just eye candy.

Catching up on Nashville, before it gets yanked from Amazon. While I'm not a country fan, I find myself quite liking that show. Quite soapy, but entertaining. And the music is not that bad either. Kinda amazing that all these actors can sing and actually have nice voices.
Before that I've been rewatching Baywatch (whenever shows are about to leave Amazon, I feel compelled to watch them). I kinda dropped out of Baywatch in the early 90's, but it was fun to catch up. 9 Seasons in 3 weeks. Season 1 is still my favourite though. Most shocking for me though is the fact that all those seasons are between 20 and 30 years old. Where the hell did that time go?

Yeah. That is the one CD song I'm kinda missing. It grew on me in concert. I love the chorus.

That's like saying: "the person that got killed in Hollywood still had a better life than in the slums of rio". Doesn't do him any good any more. Dead is dead.
One could say, as long as he didn't see it coming and death was quick, it does matter. But yeah. Hunting for fun, even if you consume the meat, sucks.

Hmm - maybe a bit of context here. I’m sure Ross Halfin took that photo and pretty sure it wouldn’t have been published/caused an uproar if it a real statement....if it was a true statement it’s a career ender. Kirk is of Filipino descent and Rob is part Mexican part Native American! Lars is one of the most chill dudes about and even he is doing it - just a shite attempt at humour/sarcasm if you ask me.
Yeah. I wonder how much alcohol was involved in that picture. Things blown out of proportion as usual.

I think it had more to do with the fact that they had hired Dover without talking to Matt first that he was upset about, and that's when he decided that he didn't like his singing. I think there's an old interview where he says that.
Doesn't make it better though.

Guns N Roses was never really a brotherhood at any point. Axl and Izzy were friends. Slash and Steven were friends. Duff joined in. It was a cut throat business even back then. They all wanted the best people to make the best band. Over the years, Slash and Duff seem to have become closest.
But Its always been a very dysfunctional business.
To this day, I believe the band is broken up into 3 different clicks.
1) Axl and TB
2) Slash and Duff
3) Richard, Frank, Dizzy and Mel
The best opportunity at having a peaceful reunion was to just bring Slash back in with the existing band. (Duff was already kind of involved)
A lot of ex members are obviously pretty pissed off about that but I think it was the only way forward really.
I'd say they definitely were a brotherhood at least until they got a record deal. At the most until they all got independently wealthy towards the end of the AFD era and didn't need each other anymore. As for 1, 2 and 3, that's a no brainer really. I even would go as far as to say 2) Slash and 2a) Duff.

Yeah. He's a total douche for not liking him. Especially to the point of wanting nothing to do with the project.

He only plays drums on 5 songs on the record, then there's guests on the others. And it's Duff and Matt on As Bad As I Am which was added as a bonus track on the deluxe version of the record. So Glen didn't play the entire album.
Never
Yes. But Matt played zero. And Glen is the Drummer when they don't have guests. As bad as I am was added after the fact.

Glen Sobel was brought in because he's Alice's touring drummer, and the funny part is that if Matt hadn't called Shep Gordon and asked for the gig it probably would've been Glen there all along.
Yep. But actually it also was Glen who played on the first album. So it was Glen's gig all along, Matt just jumped in for that first tour.

3) The Duff stuff really disappoints me, not standing up to have Matt the main drummer on NITL. Thats meant to be his guy, his brother, he was his groomsman & as Matt points out he has now lost them to the GnR machine & feels he cannot call on them, which is sad....Matt SHOULD be on the machine. He was my own personal favourite drummer of the band & i really wished he was on the NITL tour full time.
And you really expect Axl would have rolled over on that one?? Push him too hard and you have nothing.

30 minutes ago, sackxl said:I wonder if the anger towards Slash and Duff is just due to how things panned out with NITL?
Totally can understand how he was hurt by this.
Why is it understandable though? If he would think things through rationally, he could understand how this came to be. Axl doesn't want to be surrounded by "enemies". Especially not Slash, Duff and Matt, who, if push comes to shove, are not in his corner and are a unit opposing him. He wanted to keep some of his guys. That's a power play and also a way to safe face for Axl, as like this, he only filled up vacant positions. And from Slash's and Duff's point of view, it doesn't make much sense to push it to much and give up their legacy and ruin the reunion, for someone who wasn't there from the beginning, especially when they won't even do the same for Izzy and Steven. Slash and Duff belong in GNR. Matt is give or take.
That said, of course, the stand up thing would have been if Slash and Duff would have told him that, instead of avoiding him.

Read it, found it hilarious really. The Cult section was cool, just saw he isnt following duff, slash or gnr on twitter. I dont get why he insisted so much on being part of the reunion, its steven place anyway.
Considering Izzy is not there, it's his as much as it is Steven's.

Yeah. That. There is nothing to commend there. He has no options and he plays it safe.

Right. Because you can only do one thing at a time and everything is done by Fernando. Geez. Assumptions are strong in the fan world.
When do you think they will retire GnR?

Ex-spousal support is in relation to what the person actually makes. If it is too high, he can always repetition the court to have it reduced. Happens all the time. And yes, I can't see Perla actually getting 100k a month.
