He also said several times that he was just a fan.

Hmm. I must have missed that. But just that fact that he seems to have insider information made it plausible that he was more than a fan. But whatever. It's clear now. ;)

    I don't know his songs, well, i don't think i know them

I'm sure you know "Take me home tonight". I immediatly recognized it.

Here.  I was always a fan and not the real guy.  I’m think about changing my username now that he’s gone.

LOL for a moment there, I was too wondering if we would see you again, insider information and all. ;) You shouldn't change your name, add something, if you want to acknowledge/espect his death. I mean, you're still a fan after all.

Well, of course they don't. But it seems that they have some exclusive deal with Live Nation. Even Duff's Tenderness tour was promoted by Live Nation, so there must be some long term contract going on between the parts.

As Live Nation operates the Palladium, i think it's for the best that both parts engage in this kind of partnership. GNR always did small concerts as opened rehearsals, and this time they had especially little time to put things together for the tour (as everybody were doing solo stuff). I would not expect for any new stuff in these first concerts.

Yes. Of course. But I doubt that they are Live Nation's bitch at their beck and call where Live Nation can just dictate any odd gig on them without further compensation.

I dont really care about the drama, but didnt Beta worked for Stephanie before Axl? Maybe its something more personal to her.

Yeah. Most likely, but still. Putting a fan in their place, one thing. Unfollowing Susan because of that, totally another.

You're wrong, a contract is a contract. If they agreed to a new leg with an agreement that one or shows would be sold through a certain bank system then they are obliged to do so, whether or not the band is big or small.

GNR needs livenation not the other way around "they could sell tickets on their website they don't need them"... nope, it's been done before by Pearl Jam and their competent management (management that doesn't bicker with fans on Instagram) and it cost them a ton of cash and they didn't try it again.

And again. It's an assumption that they agreed to such a thing. Also Live Nation is not the only concert promoter. They could go with AEG and have the same success. So no, they don't need Live Nation.

Duh.  My point is that somebody like myself and likely countless others WOULD continue subscribing to the fan club.  Whether that would make up the cost of this partnership with Citibank to throw this show, who knows.  I am sure the fanclub isn't a break even thing.  No doubt they're making money on it.

But how many people would that be? How many people would really really sign up and be willing to fly to Los Angeles or New York to attend a small gig?

Kat Benzova posted on instagram with a caption saying she can't wait for the new tour. I thought it was still being marketed as NITL?

Most likely she meant the new leg.

Susan posted a recent pic of herself with Stephanie Seymour and then someone commented on it saying something like “axl is an idiot for letting her go” and then beta responded by saying something like “you don’t know Axl personally so don’t comment on shit you don’t know about” and then unfollowed Susan.

Wow. A triggered little lady. ;-) I get the comment, but unfollowing Susan because she posted a pic with one of her friends?? Silly.

I don't think you understand how the touring business works. This is a Livenation show. When band signs up to tour with them they have to do certain shows. Citi Bank / Livenation have an agreement to deliver concerts to Citi customers to incentivize people to join their bank. GNR likely agreed to do this show when they signed up to do the new legs. It's not like Axl/Slash/Duff had a call on a Monday morning to conspire a way to involve a credit card to get a few extra dollars. I can understand your general feeling that the band could do more for fans (I agree) but try to be reasonable and factor in the realities of the world.

You're assuming here. They will not do this show for free. They will be compensated for this show. And it's silly to assume that they won't make extra coin for this show. There is is not someone saying, oh, and by the way, you will do this show because you have a contract with us. That might happen with some newcomer, but certainly not with an act who's last tour grossed 400 mio dollars.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty stoked at the idea of a pop up show.

No, I'm not expecting huge set list changes. No, I'm expecting them to play any of the leaks. Honestly, I'm not even expecting Axl to mention it.

BUT.....we're always so bored with GN'R doing the same old same old and this isn't that. Yes, it's kind of a minor thing but it is something other bands do. We're all always going on about how GN'R should do things "other bands" do and this is one of them, so I'll take it.

(wouldn't it be incredible if a surprise album dropped on steaming services on Friday though, right before this show?!)

Well. At the end of the day, it will be a regular gig in a smaller place.

I don't understand why they don't make something like this a 'Nightrain members only' show.  I haven't been a member of that fanclub for a year and a half now, but one of the reasons I left Nightrain was that the Troubadour show wasn't opened up to fan club members whatsoever.  Such a missed opportunity.  It was clear then that being a member of that fanclub was useless.

Because that doesn't give them any extra coin. But having a special small show for Citibank will. They are not in the business of doing something for the fans. If you want that, you should go check out Metallica.

Yeah whilst I do enjoy the sporadic exciting quick fire style announcements your going to piss a lot of people off who have no time to save for or plan ahead for a show.

Would love to go see a gig in Murica

Yeah. But quite clearly, they don't give a shit. As long as their cheque is big enough. Sickening to think that a great majority is not even allowed to buy tix for that gig. But whatever, I'm on the wrong side of the world anyway.

If you mean not using any of the unreleased material at all then it's possible Slash will be 74 years old when it's released. Also, my guess is the most likely scenario is that there will be some ideas that will be completely new Axl penned tunes, some reworked Chinese era material by Slash n' Duff, and some new songs that will originate from Slash's riffs and compositions and maybe a couple of Duff tunes.

Will that be acceptable for you? also: what if these unreleased tunes you've never heard are actually great songs that Slash will make even better? it's all new to us and a good song is a good song no matter how old it is.

Why? Slash comes up with shit rather quick. Then have Duff and Axl work their magic on it and boom, we have songs. Much better than having Slash and Duff play over pretty much completed CD songs.

  13. 6 hours ago, Rovim said:

This tune makes me more comfortable with the idea of Slash working on some unreleased Chinese era tunes but my dream scenario is still Axl giving Slash a chance to come up with his own solos for existing material but if Axl still prefers a Robin or Bucket solo, it stays. Slash can also add his own riffs and leads and little fills like Bumble did with the title track or his tapping on Shackler's.

Just no. They should start from scratch.

The song could be Axl self-reflecting and singing about himself throwing it all away or it could be about any of the band members that came and went.

LOL at the thought of Axl being self-reflecting. Ever. I think that is one thing he's not capable of. Especially not in the year 2000.
