  1. Its a beautiful song. Interpret it , and feel it, anyway you like. Thats the beauty of Axl Rose the Songwriter is that the lyrics in many of his songs can appear to be abstract but at the same time very real and applicable to a variety of settings. The man is a genius. Don't be stuck on thinking all songs have to be about one certain thing. Just listen and enjoy the magic... :)

  2. Hey all, Dizzy and Steve joined in a fundraising effort for the people affected by the Japan disaster a few weeks ago. Nice to see! Don't often hear about the positive stuff musicians do. I've met both Dizzy and Steve and both seemed like top blokes.

A few of the other guys have been involved in charity fundraising in the past - e.g Tommy and Ron?? Just saying that these people have good hearts, thats all :)

  3. Thanks to Eric and his team for the site. I really appreciated it and the work they put into it. Great place to come and keep up with the rumours (as well as the occasional factual information!).

Unfortunately this place seemed to be over-run by a lot of wankers and whingers that wasted their life here complaining and talking shit about a band, and a man, they did not like - I will never understand that. Sadly in society its often these people that have the loudest voice and make the most noise. Sad pieces of shit they are. To all the genuine GnR and Axl fans - thanks for the info and experiences shared. Peace. Scott.

  4. Let's take a break from does-he-or-doesn't-he talking about MSL and enjoy some new music from our #1 axe man, Dj.

I love it. It's not as good as Life is Beautiful or Pray for Me off the first album, but it's just the first cut, and it grows on me by the minute. Well done, Dj!

I like it a lot - thanks for the link dude. In seeing this I am reminded that DJ is not a Slash copy and the people that state that are wankers. He is different in many ways - his art is alot more theatrical ( in a marilyn manson sense) and his playing a little less-bluesy (Don't get me wrong - Slash is my favourite ever guitarist!). But GnR would be mad not to utilise DJ's many talents.

  5. I think DJ has plenty of personality. Not to mention he is the type of guy to get the word out for GNR.

He has cred outside of GNR and isn't a flaming weirdo like buckethead. Finch apparently is also a lunatic according to Axl's letter about him quitting.

So while DJ isn't as good of a guitar player as either, his stuff is catchy and more mainstream.

The experimental stage never made it. For good or bad that music was spurned by the label or the band hence the delay.

If DJ's style of writing makes the record label more comfortable due to his track record (sixx am and the last crue album) then I'm all for DJ being the face of the band. God knows Axl doesn't want to be.

    So in conclusion,

    1. doesn't wear a sock puppet on his hand. check

    2. writes lower brow but catchy music that appeals to fans other than diehards. Check

    3. Enjoys the spotlight and has done more interviews in a year than bucket and finck did in their entire tiime in GNR. Check

Sounds like the guy the band needs.

Great post dude - absolutely spot on ! Buckethead in the band was a fucking joke - And Robin belongs in a band like Tool, Mars Volta or ummm ... fuckin' NIN ! I mean shit dudes, I would rather Keith MotherFuckin' Urban in Gnr than these two. GnR thrived in the early days of being a band of very real (Okay - strung out junkies - but REAL) guys playing music from somewhere inside their mind and their soul.

As far as DJ goes - he is the best thing to happen to this band in a very, very long time :)

  6. What a night. Finally have arrived home. Awesome performance from Axl and the boys. Anyone doubting the merits of this band really must be blind. Their cohesion and chemistry are second to none. They all just seem to belong there. DJ Ashba would have to be my favourite - second to Axl of course - yep , I'm one of those type where Axl can do no wrong :) DJ has got so much personality and charisma and knows how to connect with the audience. During KOHD he threw his guitar pick and it hit me right in the face - haha ! Anyway I got it off the ground and gave it to this little chick standing next to me because she just loves him.

Highlight of the night was ...um too many... but I was glad we got to hear Better and Madagascar. I couldn't believe the ignorance of some in the crowd. Two guys were debating whether or not Slash would turn up. They seriously did not know that he's been gone for like 15 years or so. ! The crowd was interesting - I saw people as old as 60 and even as young as a 6month old baby in the front row ! Thank god the police made the baby's parents take it further away. Its hard to estimate the size of the crowd - anyone got an official figure ? In a staduim that seats over 100 000 people it still looked like a lot of people there. Even heaps of people up the back seats all the way at the opposite end of the stage.

I was lucky enough to score a drumstick - its a monster Vic Firth stick and quite beat up. Frank obviously smashes his kit. I was stoked as I have a Steve Adler stick at home too. After the show I got to the aftershow party area but I arrived a bit late - Ron and Dizzy were there and so I was stoked to get my photo with Dizzy. Sadly no Axl though. Oh well, he was probably shagged after a huge gig.

I couldn't believe it this morning when I read the Sydney Telegraph, or whatever it was. It had a big picture of Axl from Last night and said something about how he was up to his old tricks and kept everyone waiting for over an hour ! Seriously, just a flat out lie. Spiderbait finished at 800pm and Guns came on around 830p.m. I was shocked they were on so early ! They played until about 1100p.m I think. 2 1/2 hours of greatness. The crowd seemed to enjoy it immensely and no doubt that Axl and the boys did themselves a big favour in terms of promotion and goodwill with the sydney public - well done boys! I'm sure I heard at the end Axl saying that they hoped to be back soon again... Fuck yeah - can't be soon enough. Due to work committments I cant make any more shows , so I'm absolutely jealous of you all that are seeing them in adelaide and perth.

Lastly, I'm sorry I didnt get to meet a few of you from here, especially you kittengirl ! Anyway, enough of my shit. Long Live GnR. Peace :)

  7. I'd just say fuck Australia with all the bitching that took place. Buncha deadbeat third world fans that don't know how to party. That's the real problem here. Hurry up and plan the US tour so you can actually be appreciated by real fans.

Ha ha - are you really this insane ? If I'm not mistaken your country is still bent over and bleeding from the arse after being screwed by the world financial crisis ( Which was the fault of greedy americans) , while Australia is one of the worlds leading economies throughout it all. And you call us third world? Dude , its hillbillys like yourself that give your country a bad name. Now be a good boy and go jack off to your Sarah Palin poster while your mum licks your balls ! I'm guessing your from West Virginia right?

  8. Why hasn't anyone asked the question, why did the night start late in the first place?

The media wouldn't answer this because it would really ruin the fact that at the end of the day Guns were 45 minutes later than they should have been after Korn finished and that really doesn't sound like a good story to me as they need 1 person to blame.

The promoter has promised the noise would be done by 10.45 and yet Guns finished within the curfew time of 12pm so I'd like to know what time they were told they had to be on by too.

I went to 3 Metallica shows this tour and the promoter said 9pm yet the times varied between 9.30 and 9.50.

Hey dude - yeah mate I know. I went to two Metallica shows recently and nowhere in the media will you find it written that they were 45 mins later than the ticket time !

  9. Gunsguy do you ever honestly post without your very obvious bias? You do alot of good things for the forum i admit, but seriously, the extent of your defence for all things Axl is almost scary. The OP posted a legitimate article regarding Guns N' Roses and all you have to show is a picture saying "haters going to hate", what about the people that have a 6 o'clock start for work Thursday morning?? Are they haters? I suppose they should move area everytime Guns come to town? Seriously its fucken ridiculous how you can defend this shit.

My hat goes off to Jackie Moon and Estranged Reality for maintaining their integrity and not letting their moderator and reporter status get to their head. Kudos to you guys.

Young Gun - don't worry about the people that have to get up at 6 am for work on thursday morning mate. Seriously this town gets like one decent band perform there once every five years or so and should be elated that GnR went there. Trust me - the overwhelming majority of people in Townsville would have been stoked with the buzz that GnR brought to their boring-arse town this week. Any negative media you may read is just a few toss-pots that the media are grabbing a hold of just to write some shit about Axl... Thats all.

And I think you're a bit harsh on Gunsguy - he's entitled to an opinion no matter if he's a moderator or just some piss ant like me :) !

  10. aww man I wish, but I just bought my soundwave ticket....fml

Yeah I just got my Soundwave ticket too. That and have just seen Metallica for the second time - fuckin' cost around five hundred to fly interstate and see them the second time around.! Well worth it though - Awesome show - - front row ! 2 1/2 years of touring - well done Metallica boys :) Need to get to Sydney early to get front row again... I'm guessing there will be forum members all along the front row for GnR in Sydney.... :)

  11. * Dj runs over to the platform where fans in wheelchairs are and plays for them!

    That's pretty cool.

Yep, Thats very cool ! DJ seems like a top bloke and has been a fantastic addition to this band. I don't know why so many shitheads on here and in the general public/media have such a bad attitude towards the man. Why? because he wears a hat - well fuck me... How dare he wear a hat....

  12. Nope - that would be awesome though. I tried to catch Slash's pick a few weeks ago but I'm vertically challenged ! Also tried to get him to sign my Canter's Deli t-shirt but failed at that too (G'day Marc !)

I'm thinking of taking a fishing net on a pole for when I see Guns in Sydney in december - maybe that will help :shrugs:

Your username made me think of a gay porn movie when I first saw it...

    lol

Really ? Thats weird... Anyway if thats what you think about thats your business hey? I'm not that way inclined, but I don't have anything against your type okay , whatever floats your boat mate
