  1. Yes, I must be a cupcake for saying what virtually everyone who doesn't have their heads shoved up Axl's ass says.

You need to have your "head showed up Axl's ass" to not see that a band that is touring less than 4 years ago after releasing a new record is a "nostalgia act"?

Not "showed", "shoved". And in this case, with the specific details of this "band", yes, you would have to have your head shoved there to think this isn't a nostalgia act. Speak to anyone not on this forum and maybe you'll cure that tunnel vision.

    Don't be the grammar police,this isn't a dissertation its an internet forum,English isn't everyone's first language.

And No,its not a nostalgia act,the hardcore fans may be weary of the standards, but they are crowd pleasers, and the addition of Estranged,Civil War,plus the Acca Dacca songs make this a very entertaining set.

Well said, The setlist is great - a bit of everything for everyone.

  2. That would be great

    A suggestion then Gunsguy ?

    mr. brownstone

    Don't ask me why lol

Ha - I was also thinking that. Put their own spin on it of course.

Powerage - I know it would be a stretch as the bands, and vocals, have differing sounds etc... Although strangely I could think of heaps of ACDC songs that Axl would be awesome singing - the other way around might be more of a challenge for Brian Johnson.

I just think that doing ACDC covers is like mini-promotion for them, so it would be cool Rock etiquette to return the favour :)

  3. As we all know GnR like to play the odd ACDC song or two. My question is what song would sound good if ACDC were to return the gesture and play a Guns N Roses song in their live set ?

I reckon maybe a mid-tempo number such as the Lies version of 'Your'e crazy', or maybe 'Dust N' Bones' or 'Better' perhaps. What do you think ?

  4. Another Australia/NZ tour either end of this year or next, would be nice, meh just a thought... :shrugs:.

They haven't been to Brisbane since 2007 so............ only went to Townsville, Sydney, Adelaide. Perth. They missed out on the big city's like Brisbane and Melbourne in 2010... would be nice to see them in Brisbane in my hometown... any one know why they haven't been to these places since would be interested to know... But yeah I think Europe will happen before anywhere else...

And NO I don't think I am being greedy in just asking cause Brazil have got them in the last year or so like Canada and other places... so alot of fans I know online have seen them twice since I have so there lol.

Where in Brissie are you from ? I live in Meadowbrook on the southside of town, kinda inbetween Brisbane and Gold Coast :)

It was a shame to miss out in 2010 - I flew to Sydney but that was all I could manage with work commitments.

Brisbane loves GnR - Axl could sell-out the Entertainment centre for a few nights easy. Melbourne also loves GnR.

Oh well - he did say at the end of the Sydney gig that they will be back soon but I guess that's what is always said...

  5. It's exciting if true that a new record is now the focus. I have a hard time believing that, though, judging from Guns N' Roses history in the last decade and a half.

But DJ Ashba ... I have ZERO hope the guy can write a killer Gn'R track. Nothing I've heard from him has been any good. Not even a little bit.

They say you can't shine shit. And if it's true he's writing

Gn'R material, then I guess we'll have to see if Axl can make that dung sparkly.

No need to be a prick - how many award-winning albums have you written and played on? Please let me know if they are available on itunes so i can listen to them and judge you...

  6. Would love to see Axl open the lines of communication to his most devoted of fans again, but there are too many wankers here that would potentially insult and provoke the man. He doesn't deserve that crap... One bad apple spoils the whole damn bunch unfortunately :(

  7. ^ Sorry Gnrjanus - I'm just being a silly immature fucker. :)

I actually agree whole heartedly with what you wrote. I honestly think CD is amazing but perhaps a bit too complex and intricate for alot of people.

AFD is the greatest album of all time. Its flawless magic...

  8. It's a shame the music world doesn't realise the beauty of chinese and never gave it a fair shot. they just bashed it for being 13 years late and what not.

but if those same people would actualy listen to all the songs and really put an efford into it which they will never do since it's stuff from Axl.

they would tell the world it's the best damn thing in a long time.

By far Chinese is lyricly and musicly a very rare and artistic and very beautiful record!

and I believe since music sucked in 2000-2008 it's the best record of that time period.

    Well said Gnranus !

  9. Aah, who gives a shit - Kurts dead and long gone - R.I.P to the dude but Axl's survived the hell of fame and is flourishing now. Now all the Nirvana fans can listen to the run of the mill generic pop-rock crap that is the Foo Fighters, while us GnR fans welcome in 2012 and an exciting new Guns album. :)

  10. Why all the moaning about no new songs :shrugs:

You pay to go and see a band and hear released music performed live. That's what it is all about.

If and when there is a new album then you will get to hear some of the latest songs performed live.

People hear are obsessed with wanting something new all the time. If they got something new, they would simply want more :D

Exactly ! If they played one new song then pretty soon people here would want a new-new song , Ha!

I guess people on a forum such as this are absolutely in the minority of hardcore GnR fans. 99% of the people that turn up to their shows wanna hear the classics. They wouldn't even know what 'The General' might be??? Most of them wouldn't even know OMG even though it was officially released years ago. So we are just super-keen fans who are desperate for more tunes from Axl - but it probably aint gonna happen.

Just be happy Guns are active these days compared to some years gone by. :)

  11. I am a computer idiot who does not know how to link----go to toutube and type-- guns n roses the joint 2011-----the clip posted is 27 minutes long and is Pro Shot # 1

Thanks for this dude ! I never doubted you :) I am a computer idiot too...

The Footage is great. I paid for iclips for last night but didn't see any because of the fuck-up of it all.

    Much appreciated!

  12. if only this happened during rio

Ha - You cheeky bastard !!!

I paid for both shows - $15 I think ??? The last one worked fine but this one won't even allow me to sign in!

Dissapointing but oh well shit happens...

They'll probably play OMG, The General, Don't Damm Me, Shadow of your Love, Coma and Paradise City as the encore just to fuck with our heads :)

  13. Regarding last night's stage set-up: They weren't using their stage because it's an amphitheater. Amphitheater stages are usually considerably lower than a stage would be set in an arena, some of them are as low as 3 feet. This is also why there were no extensions.

Regarding sales, I don't think there's a real concern with how it'll affect future plans. A vast majority of bands don't sell that well anymore in the US. Even AC/DC; last tour one

show I saw was half full, and one was maybe 60% full. Maiden, who are considered to be

in the middle of a massive resurgence in popularity in the US only sold out one US

show last year; Madison Square Garden. I'm not expecting the upcoming Van Halen tour to

sell nearly as well as in 07/08 either. The fact is, between the insane ticket prices and weak

economy, fewer people are going to shows, and I'm sure the band recognizes this factor.

No one seems to have anything negative to say about how the tour has been going, and

even Axl seemed extremely optimistic about next year.

When a band releases music they need an audience who buy's this music.

And you missed the entire point of the AC/DC and Maiden references.

    Ali

How many albums did they sell in the U.S. in the past 4 years?

AcDc's Black Ice (2008) sold over 2 million in the US and 800k in it's first week of release. For today that's massive

Yep for today that is massive, but it's not today - that was 3 - 4 years ago dude! America's economy is way more fucked up now than then. I'm actually really surprised GnR are getting the crowds they are - very good I would have thought.

The US is their toughest market, probably goes for all musicians / bands in any genre - would people agree? I imagine the diversity and sheer amount of entertainment on offer in the US means that people have alot of options, but unfortunately not enough money to do it all. Guns could always come to Australia and sellout a couple of nights of 10,000 venues in each capital city. We have a healthier economy and fewer options for entertainment (And we just fuckin' love GnR!)

  14. You guys are deaf , omg is one of the best rockers from gnr and a reworked one would highlight that even more

I love the venom in OMG and think for the style of song it is , it is an extraordinary song. Fast and furious, and brilliant lyrics by Axl. However, it is very different from classic GnR songs so its very hard for the public to accept. Its why bands like ACDC and Bon Jovi "succeed" - if that's what you want to call it. They come up with the same old shit time and time again. I admire Axl for doing different things but unfortunately the majority of the public are boring and simple folk. Anyway, If OMG makes an appearance in a show I will blow my load, but personally would rather see new songs debut.
