  1. I would love to see Axl live just singing and playing piano for an entire show - that instrument captures another side to his personality and the expression of it is beautiful.

Ha. Well, not the entire show but yeah, he's pretty good on the piano. I always loved the piano solo he did in Chicago, 92.

Very Nice - thanks for posting :)

  2. Did you see that video f those fans treating Axl like the main zoo exhibit?

I don't blame Axl for not doing the meet and greets, he's probably had too many weirdos act crazy towards him in the past

Too true, I didnt like how those girls treated him like a circus freak. Not cool.

  3. Axl looks really amazing for someone who is 49.

Bloody Oath - Axl looks fantastic compared to most 40 year olds. Gives me the shits when people / media talk about his appearance, the dude is in great shape!

  4. I love Frank and as someone who drums a bit I really appreciated seeing him on the livestream last night! Great footage of Frank last night was a nice surprise to me.

Frank had a really sore leg here in Australia last year but kept drumming through the pain and never gave up - I admire the man's character as well as his drumming.

  5. ^Not a bad idea.

Making it work I'm sure is complicated, and there would be a lot of pressure to get it right - because if it was just going to the band, then no one would care about how it got there, what they spend it on, and if some ticketing or administration system is taking a percentage off the top---- but if it's a charity, then all those things become important (and also the band would care about WHICH charity and what they do with the money).

I could see that working in select towns - towns that have some sort of reputable, maybe nationally known, non-profit or cause. And you would probably do press in those towns to get the most support. And that would be less work (having 5-6 of these in major markets rather than 30 of them).

But there's enough things to worry about just to get a show on besides all that. =)

But that's not a bad model to give fans something that's scarce and unpredictable, and do it without being greedy.

Certainly those VIP packages as priced aren't greedy at all, though. Don't get me wrong there.

It doesn't have to be complicated - you buy your own ticket to the show, G.A floor or seating, then you have your receipt / evidence of your donation to the registered charity. This way you could even claim it as a tax deduction ! (In Australia anyway). You get to meet the band for $1000 tax deductible, the kid's hospital scores a generous donation, and Axl and GnR receive some fantastic publicity - Everyone's a winner baby! Call me Fernando - we'll set it up... :)

  6. I paid $525 six years ago for an Alice Cooper VIP package. It was great. Backstage tour, tshirt, poster, meet n greet, photo with Alice and some other cool shit.

When I saw GN'R in 07 for the first time, I ran into some people in Perth who had backstage passes. I offered them $1000 for the pass but they declined.

I got backstage the next show in Adelaide and had a chat to Richard, Bumble and Chris about how I nearly spent $1000 on a backstage pass in Perth. They all told me the same thing "No one should have to pay to meet anyone".

I'm really really really surprised GN'R have VIP packages for sale.

I'd easily pay $1000 to meet Axl - I know the attitude to this by band members is that 'no-one should pay to meet anyone' - but really how else can you meet them ? I know they are probably being nice that they don't want to profit from people getting to meet their favourite bands etc... so maybe they could accept the money on behalf of a local children's hospital or something - 20 people paying $1000 each would be the quickest and easiest money a charity could collect!

  7. I would easily pay $1000 to see GnR in an intimate gig, without question - organise it dude and I'm there! Recently saw Chris Cornell in similar circumstances and it was brilliant. Not a big fan of seeing bands with a massive crowd. Fortunately each time i've seen Guns (1993, 2007 & 2010) it has been front row and it was awesome. However, i think it would be really special seeing them in a very small venue with pure Guns N Roses fans. :)

  8. I did not see the video, nor do I want to, whoever posts it up I think should be removed from the forum. It is disrespectful to post something like that. IMO.

I think we should stop talking about this.

    I agree!.

Well said Melly - i dont want to see it and think it should not be posted. If Ron's had a bad moment then no need fir his sake to perpetuate it. Leave the poor bugger alone and show some sensitivity.

  9. I met Axl!!

    details, please!

    What an amazing night!!

A buddy of mine who is a hair stylist was hired for Ashba's hair. I had no idea but other mutual friends told him I was there and he found me. He gave me his pass and showed me around backstage. As soon as I walk back, Zakk Wylde is there, fresh off the stage with gnr. I shook his hand and moved on. Went back to the dressing room area and grabbed a beer then we went to the stage and sat behind Dizzy for a couple of songs. Again went backstage and met some of Ashba's family. Grabbed another beer and went to the side of the stage where Pitman is and watched the encore.

Post show, hung out a bit. Met or saw all except for Dizzy and Fortus. Finally, around 4 my budy came and got me and took me to Axl's dressing room. He had family and some old friends back there. Axl was a gracious host. I was able to shake his hand, get 2 pics and ask him about Ben Harper. Thanked him for the show also. After that, we just hung out in his dressing room, Bumble was in there. I had a couple of beers and some Jager and listened to Axl shoot the shit with his fam and friends. Left Conseco about 5 a.m. after an accidental detour thru the Pacers' locker room.

I would like to think I was cool about it. I wasn't one of those "your music changed my life" dudes when I had my chance. I didn't ask him to sign a bazillion things. He's just a dude like the rest of us. He was making fun of old high school teachers and just chilling.

That's fantastic mate! Axl sounds like a really nice guy. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks everyone for posting their pics and reviews etc... :)

  10. Its an amazing song but must be extremely hard to sing. Maybe Catcher would be better suited to a live show and is also an amazing and beautiful song. Anyway, the current setlist is pretty hard to go past - its got everything you could want.

  11. I am very excited about going to the LA show, the Phoenix show, and the two Vegas shows, and today I was telling my beautiful girlfriend who I love with all my heart about it and she was like: "Hell no! You're not going to Vegas on New Year's ... You just wanna go and hang out with prostitutes blah blah blah" and I was like: "Whatever, I'll still go and she knows it", and I was about to let the whole thing go away and then she said: "And your excuse is that you're going to see a band that doesn't even exist!"... When I heard those words come out of her mouth I turned around and looked here in the eyes and immediately slapped the shit out of the fucking bitch's face and told her: "Don't you ever talk to me like that again".... So right now I'm thinking about breaking up with her after a two year relationship because if she does not believe in GNR, she does not believe in me. I love her, but she went too far with that comment. So yeah, anyone else going to the Phoenix show?

You're a Wanker - seek help you tosspot...

  12. funny to see how the disloyal fans who didn't want gnr to be inducted are reacting to my post..

    they're so touchy

    haha

    Where did you get that?

I'm a GnR fan, whatever GnR you're talking about (AFD line-up, UYI line-up, 2001/2 line-up, CD line-up...). I'm really happy GnR gets inducted, whoever shows up.

    You're not a fan trolltrane.

cd line-up is not gnr, just axl's backing band

i've been a gnr fan since 1988 and i think it's hilarious to see a guy like you who probably wasn't even born when afd came out with his ridiculous bumblehead avatar telling me that i'm not a fan..

If you feel that way - not enjoying or respecting current Guns'N'Roses - then why do you not start up MyjustAxl'sbackingbandforum.com and drag all the other disrespecting whinging bitches with you ???
