  1. just got back...have to pick up my kids and then go and cut down a Christmas tree.

was backstage (i was working), just a few quick observations:

    1. watched the band rehearse Civil War...not played.

    2. saw the top half of the first page of the set list...about the 4th or 5th song was Oh My God ... but they did NOT play it.

    3. band members are all really nice people

    4. thank you to the girl behind us that was wearing the blue heart shaped pasties....and for dancing like a mad woman.

    5. the d'evolution band are really nice.

    6. Jarmo has really soft hands.

    7. ran into Axl in the hallway right after the show, didn't talk to him, but he mocked me...it was funny.

    blessed!

Wow - thats amazing mate ! Good for you. When do the band rehearse ? On the afternoon of the gig date?

How on earth could you run into Axl in a hallway and not even say a quick G'day ??? Thats like running into Jesus Christ in Heaven and not stopping him and saying "Yo - J.C - What's up dude ! " ...

(I don't wanna know how you came about Jarmo's soft hands - but let me say - It's ok to say no... ) :)

Thanks for sharing your experience and have a great Christmas.

    -----------

I need to buy an iphone, go on tour and update complete setlists every show.... dreamin out loud :rofl-lol:

Having trouble reporting the news from my computer chair

All the photos are brilliant ! This band looks spectacular. Appreciating your efforts Gunsguy ! :)

  3. Well, I tried, but failed miserably. Looking back I should have sent it down through the crowd, but I didn't. I got down near the stage and as you can see from the video, had a short tug of war with security until he said, "Let go of the dolphin or we'll throw you in jail." I wrote Oh My God on the dolphin, but it never saw the stage. LAME ASS SECURITY!

Dude, that cracked me up. You deserve the Forum member of the year award! :)

  4. Thanks for posting - the concert footage was great! The so called writer of that review is a wanker though. Can't believe that Rolling Stone would even allow such shit to be written. The bands brilliant and Axl is in fine form. Anyway, I like a lot of the positive comments at the bottom of the review page.

  5. I'm gonna keep track of everything for you guys, but the highlight is gonna be taking my 7 year old son w/ me to see Guns N' Roses 24 years after I saw GN'R for the first when I was 7 years old. I love this fucking band!!!

Thats great! Generations of GnR fans... My son is 7 and i wanted to bring him to see them play in Sydney last year but thought the flights etc. would be too much for him. Anyway, maybe next time. In the front row of that Sydney gig there was a couple with like a 12 mth old baby and another kid.Thankfully Security asked them to move back and my wife and I notcied that their other child had a hearing aid! Wankers. If i take my kids in the future it will be in seating.

Hope you both Have a fantastic time!

  6. Ha! I was hoping to make Adelaide. I work with Neurosurgeons and that wednesday (if i remember correctly) a Surgeon booked a big cervical tumour removal with me that i couldnt get out of. I stood there during the operation wishing i was in Adelaide. Not happy Jan!

Anyway, next time Guns tour Oz i will take holidays and do it properly.

Surely next tour Melbourne and Brisbane would get a gig too???

  7. First reviews coming through

Concert review: Guns N’ Roses at Amway Center

Concerts — posted by jimabbott on October, 29 2011 2:24 AM

Well, I never had a chance to see the old, fat Elvis Presley in Las Vegas, but I saw Axl Rose on Friday at Amway Center.

That’s has to be close, right?

Rose and the current no-name lineup of Guns N’ Roses – sort of the strike-season-replacement-team of rock bands – unleashed a bloated, but surprisingly strong 3 hours on the opening night of its first U.S. tour in more than five years. Yeah, there was a lot of it – just like the lead singer’s expanded mid-section.

    Just kidding, sort of.

Actually, it was hard to make a judgment about Axl’s physique, since he was dressed in a frumpy black jacket, untucked shirt and baggy pants that concealed his waistline. His face also was hard to see beneath pulled-down brim of a flashy fedora and the big video screens never offered a close-up.

Maybe his eyes were shielded to keep him from seeing that there weren’t enough fans to fill the lower bowl or require opening the arena’s upper level. Perhaps the faithful were turned off by horrendous reviews out of the band’s recent Rock in Rio performance – or maybe chubby Axl consumed some of them at the meet-and-greet.

It was hard to hear his voice above the onslaught of guitars and drums in an opening foray that included “Chinese Democracy,” “Welcome to the Jungle” and “It’s So Easy.”

When the mix stabilized, though, his strident tenor was strong (by Axl standards) in “Estranged,” “Live and Let Die,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and others. The gut-busting histrionics in “This I Love,” another Chinese Democracy song, were harder to love, however.

Maybe the band was turned up loud because it rocked instrumentally: Guitarists DJ Ashba, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and Richard Fortus channeled riffs of signature hits above the foundation of bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer. Fewer time-chewing solos between the Guns N’ Roses songs would’ve been nice, though.

Although less intricate, opening act Buckcherry delivered its enthusiastic aggregation of Aerosmith and AC/DC riffs with conviction, ripping through “All Night Long,” “Dead” and “It’s a Party” with style.

It would’ve been nice if Buckcherry had played longer than its allotted 60 minutes, considering GNR made the fans wait an additional 90 minutes for its arrival just after 11:30 p.m.

But, as tempting as it is to write off the lead singer as a caricature of himself, the wait was pretty much worth it in the end.

    No joke.

Whoever wrote this shit can stick his blog up his arse. So many times over the last couple of years i've read similar reviews from people that are so upset to admit that they have witnessed one of the great rock acts in modern times. They are so reluctant to give Axl and the boys credit for a brilliant show that the content of their pissy little review is mostly negative, and then they usually end it with something like - 'Oh yeah, by the way it was really quite awesome' - as a little throwaway sentence at the end of bashing the band.

By all real accounts it went off well and Axl and the boys were terrific. Enjoy it USA :)
