  1. I barely even know those 5 songs... They are so bad I only listened once or twice when the album first came out and never again. So hopefully none. Quite glad they've cut down on CD stuff a lot this leg.
  2. A good reminder that sadly the band are getting old and touring days are probably going to be slowing down from here onwards.
  3. He's technically a great guitarist. Probably spent half his life locked in a room learning scales and techniques. Hopefully he's happy. But the real legendary guitarists are the ones that learned how to write a riff and great songs.
  4. I think it shows that his stuff doesn't sell because people don't enjoy it.
  5. Can you name a single musician in the history of music that has actually created legendary solos for over 30 years? It simply has never happened. Most successful bands have a purple patch in their career where they make good music. The right personnel in the right place at the right time etc. Guns had that 87 - 93. It's hard to reach those heights again. Yet Slash still has with songs like Slither, Fall to Pieces, Anastasia, Serial Killer. If Guns write a legendary song then I'm sure you'll get a great solo. Absurd, Hardskool and Perhaps are not really songs that would even get a legendary solo. And that's ok, not every song is legendary. I think people complain about Slash for the sake of it these days.
  6. The Slash hate on the forum has gotten way out of hand. Every single thread seems to turn into "Slash is going to ruin the General" or "Slash doesn't play This I love" note for note. I'm kind of glad the guy is focusing on his own stuff next year. Maybe he'd be better off sticking to that and let Richard play lead for Guns in theatre's.
  7. Every album he has made has some good solo's. If you're talking about really legendary... well most guitarists only manage 1 or 2 in their whole career. Slash has several.
  8. Bucket could play the old stuff... it just didn't sound like Guns at all. That Nightrain solo is horrible. A song all about feel should never be turned into flawlessly playing through scales.
  9. Serviceable is fine for songs that you didn't write and aren't your thing. Let him write new songs in his own style and you'll get better results. He's proved legendary at that.
  10. Yeah I don't get the whole Slash "butchers" CD solos. The songs most commonly played are CD and Better and he did fine with those. I've heard him doing a good job on TWAT, Prostitute, Sorry. It's only really This I love and Street of Dreams that I didn't enjoy
  11. We more or less know how it's going to pan out. They reworked a few songs. Probably The General, Atlas and SOG might come out at some point . Everything else will be shelved and they will work on new stuff.
  12. I personally think Axl was tired of the whole Nu Guns project in that 11 - 14 period. He knew the band was going nowhere and he'd likely have to recruit even more new members. His only options at the time was go solo or reunite. Another version of Nu Guns simply wouldn't have sold. That's why I think people should be really happy that Slash returned and agreed to not only play a bunch of Chinese but also rework a bunch of Axls songs. He would have had a lot of power in those negotiations to simply say no not at all or maybe just agree to play 1 or 2 CD songs.
  13. That's what Slash and Richard have both said. If they were just going to rework more old songs then I'm sure they would stick to the line of "plenty of material there to work on" I struggle to see Axl do new music myself but he does appear to be happier these days. I also think that Slash is probably eager to do his own stuff.
  14. Based on what Slash and Richard have said, it seems like at least most of the song titles we've heard over the last few decades will never be heard. They were probably never finished anyway. I think it will be a good thing for everyone to start fresh
  15. I think it would be awesome for Axl to just take a back seat. No overthinking, no layers, no thinkering, no stress. Just let Slash, Duff, Richard and Frank get in a room and belt out some monsterous songs. Add vocals and just release it. Will never happen obviously. Axl has spent close to 3 decades just overthinking too much.
  16. At the last show they played Chinese, Maddie and Twat and Slash did a good job. This I love is the only one they played quite frequently that I didn't enjoy. I guess people here are agreeing then that it's best to move on from all that stuff. If you don't like his solos on those songs, let him write his own stuff. He's proven pretty legendary at that
  17. He really doesn't. He did a great job to volunteer to learn almost the whole album for the fans considering it's not really his style.
  18. A few months ago, Slash mentioned that they'd release a handful of material that Axl had leftover and then work on new stuff. Richard has now confirmed the same. I'm guessing the handful of songs is Hardskool, Absurd, Perhaps, General and maybe Atlas/State of Grace at some point. I think it is now safe to say that all the other mentioned song titles are shelved for whatever reasons? I personally am quite glad. A band will always write better songs when they write as a band. Hopefully they do that now or at least spend more time on projects where they can do that.
  19. “We don’t have a set list. It’s different every night. The tour is exceptional in that regard. We’ve settled into a zone, but when we started, it was really ‘anything goes.’”
  20. Echoes what Slash said before. Get rid of the leftovers and finally start working on new stuff. My fear is that will never actually materialize. Things will just go quiet for a year or so and then a new tour.
  21. Nu Guns era songs typically don't have those stand out riffs or solo's. They'll probably have to write some more guitar driven songs to get solos like that.
  22. I think it's a good thing. I know some people on here like to make out that CD was a double album or even a trilogy but it seems pretty clear that almost all of that if it ever even existed was shelved. There's a few leftovers trickling out and probably a hiatus while Slash and Duff focus on doing what musicians do... Making music. Guns will be back for more touring soon enough though. And unlikely with any new music.
  23. As far as I can see, most of those people would prefer the band to shelve the leftovers and write new material with legends like Slash and Duff on board. Nu Guns were never going to be massive. They just didn't have the songs
