  1. I actually don't like that at all. Doesn't suit the song. Overall though his vocals were quite good back then
  2. It's hard to know what an interviewer would actually talk to him about. He's not late anymore. He doesn't start riots. He doesn't hate Slash. He doesn't release much music.
  3. I don't think it would make a huge difference to ticket sales but the band would sound a lot tighter.
  4. GNR didn't evolve. One member moved in a certain direction that alienated the band leading to a break up and then alienated the fans. It was an extremely unsuccessful period. Axl almost ended up in theatres even with the Guns N Roses brand...
  5. I think Izzy wanted Guns to stay cool. Like a hard rock band with Stones, Aerosmith and punk vibes. I think Slash and Duff wanted that too I can imagine him rolling his eyes when they started adding Stephanie and dolphins into their videos and breaking out the piano. I can only imagine what he thinks of the whole Chinese circus... I think Axl could have really benefitted from having people like Izzy around who would tell him the truth instead of a bunch of enablers.
  6. Both Slash and Ron have said that they have never gotten in a room and written music together as a band. That would date back to 2006 at least. If they didn't write anything, then the only thing they could have worked on is existing material. Nobody knows for sure but I'd say early 00s was last time
  7. I didn't follow the band closely during that period at all but I've read quite a bit that suggests it was a really toxic environment. Bucket has never spoken about his time in the band. It seems like it was a really negative experience for him. It seems he didn't get on with Tommy for definite. Bumble also seemed to have a really negative experience. People didn't want him in the band, nothing productive happening etc Tommy had bad things to say about DJ. Pitman sueing for wages etc. Even the fact that so many people left is a good indication that things weren't good. The whole thing seems to have been a bit of a trainwreck.
  8. It is interesting that over the years various things have leaked and yet The General and SOG are never on the same list.
  9. So true and sad that hardcore fans forget it. Together they were greater than the sum of their parts. After 93 but definitely 96 Guns became more just Axl and have struggled as a creative entity ever since.
  10. I'm looking forward to hearing this one but I actually sympathise a bit with the song. The expectations are huge. It has been described as epic and linked to Estranged by people with great intentions but possibly a little over excited. The title itself sounds epic but I believe it's actually linked to Chinese food Was maybe a working title that kind of stuck when it leaked. I don't believe it's about a General at all. If it is really about child abuse and some of the rumoured lyrics are true... It's going to be very heavy and not so relatable for a lot of people. Doesn't mean it won't be a good song though.
  11. CD wasn't very popular so they might not have heard those songs but if they did you can easily tell it's not Slash. Most people just want Slash in Guns, that's why the band is doing well again.
  12. You have to remember that this forum is very pro Nu Guns and those strange views are quite common around here but don't hold any weight outside of this forum. Most people outside of here would laugh if you told them you wanted to hear Guns N Roses without Slash.
  13. That solo is really bad to me in that it doesn't sound at all like Guns N Roses. And I think that's ultimately the issue. Classic Guns and Nu Guns are 2 separate bands. I never enjoyed Nu Guns doing the classics and I don't really care much for Slash to play CD stuff. They should have always been treated as separate projects.
  14. Why are you posting on a Guns N Roses forum? I'm sure there must be somewhere on the internet you can go to chat with a couple of Finck fans?
  15. I think because the general was missing from the village leaks and the village leaks seems to contain all their material.
  16. He's a legendary guitarist with lots of legendary riffs and solo's. The 2 you mention could barely fill a theatre. CD stuff is certainly not Slash's style but he has enhanced lots of it already.
  17. They earned a lot of money playing songs that weren't theirs. They're probably thanking Guns for financial security
  18. He does though if you follow his career. All of his solo albums have plenty of really good riffs and solo's. Even the last 2 albums that had weaker songs overall. At his live shows he plays long solos going through the scales. Some people call it noodling and say he should play less. Then he plays a simple solo on a simple song like Perhaps and people say he should noodle all over it. There's just a lot of negativity towards Slash these days with the vast majority completely unjustified. He's one of the main reasons a song like Perhaps has over 1M views
  19. Not at all. Slash can easily play through scales like that blindfolded.
  20. Some nice playing there but I have no idea why he has Perhaps playing in the background because what he's playing doesn't fit at all. And if Slash had recorded that there would be a 50 page meltdown thread on why did Slash take a simple song and noodle all over it
  21. So we're back to 96 Axl still wants to do all the piano and alternative stuff but Slash/Duff would probably prefer to do a more traditional Guns album.
  22. 3 albums Based on Slash's comments, I'm not sure there's even enough for a 2nd album. And that seems to include some very average stuff like Absurd, Hardskool, Atlas and Perhaps. I don't know where people get this idea that Axl is some kind of perfectionist that had this huge vision for a trilogy and has all this epic material held back. I think it's more accurate to say that Axl has been very lazy for 20 years and hasn't written anything new with Guns and has been content to just tour.
  23. Finck absolutely butchered that solo on that recording.
  24. I think a lot of people heard Slash's solo on a terrible quality soundcheck video and thought it sucked. But now with the real thing released they release that's it's a cool enough solo. It's a short song with only a tiny solo section anyways. And once you add Slash, you get 1M views in a few days so that helps
