  1. I doubt he'll ever admit it, but I do wonder if he ever looks back and thinks maybe Guns should have just took a break in the 90s. Slash could have done Snakepit and Axl could have done all the industrial, grunge, piano stuff that he wanted and released it as a solo album.
  2. That's an absolutely scandalous post. For starters, he has already written 3 classic albums with Guns. He also had success with Velvet Revolver. In the last 13 years he has released 5 solo albums. Maybe the songs or the singer are not to your taste but those albums have plenty of monsterous riffs and solo's. If anything worries me about Guns writing material, it's that Axl doesn't appear to have written anything in 2 decades.
  3. He had two whole decades to release those songs if he really wanted to with whatever players he wanted. You just don't bring Slash back into your band and then tell him you want to release songs but would prefer if he didn't play on them. At least not if you're hoping he'll stick around and keep the band in stadiums.
  4. In that case, you just don't release those songs. I don't think Axl would be too happy if Slash wanted to release a song under the Guns name with another vocalist who fits better
  5. Nonsense like this drives me mad! You follow a band where Slash is the legendary guitarist who has written over 90% of the iconic riffs and solo's that get played at their live show. And you don't want that man to play a solo on the new song that we've never heard because he has 1 solo you don't like?
  6. A part of me wonders whether the band know that the song won't live up to expectations and that's why it's a B side, bonus type song. Maybe Axl never even recorded vocals and it's instrumental. Maybe only a tiny bit of the old show intro is featured under a verse or something.
  7. I wouldn't consider myself to be a setlist complainer. I think it's a pretty cool set for those attending the show. But it's ok to point out that they don't change much. They opened every single show in the last 7 years with Easy and ended with PC. The vast majority of songs played in early 2016 are still in the set.
  8. I really want a proper Guns N Roses album. Even a few songs! Record it as live as possible. Monster Slash riffs and solo's with Axl singing. Just guitar, bass and drums. Guns N Roses stripped back. We haven't had that since the 80s
  9. Why are people so obsessed with the length of the song? I don't think I've ever had any sort of opinion on a song based on its length....
  10. Yes. Everyone is entitled to one. People are allowed to believe a guitarist who didn't complete 1 full tour and played on the least successful album is the best. One of my friends thinks Fernando Torres was better than Messi.
  11. Well, if you say slash is the best, all the numbers back it up.
  12. People are entitled to an opinion if they clarify its their own opinion. Buckethead can be your favourite Guns guitarist. Even DJ Ashba for some.
  13. People can prefer him if they want. Bit strange when slash wrote all the iconic songs but everyone is entitled to an opinion. What I take issue with is people saying he is the best guitarist Guns ever had.
  14. His music is just not popular. That includes what he released with Guns N roses. So for a poster to say he's the greatest guitarist that Guns ever had is absolutely laughable.
  15. Cobain is another example that perfectly proves my point. Is Buckethead technically better on guitar? Yes of course. Should Buckethead be in Nirvana? Would he be the best guitarist for Nirvana? No Buckethead may well be the most technical guitarist that has ever existed. Most people don't enjoy pure technical playing though. They like a guitarist that writes good songs, riffs, solos.
  16. When we talk about Slash been iconic, it's not even just for his brilliant work in Guns. He also had lots of success with Velvet and his solo career. He has also had tonnes of collaborations with other artists. And if that wasn't enough, he's pretty much the main face for Gibson and Marshall. Probably made them millions by now.
  17. Lol! Bucket doesn't even tour outside the US. Unlikely he'd have much demand. So one again you're wrong there. Slash doesn't wear a Halloween costume on stage either. Unless you are referring to that 1 Velvet Revolver gig 20 odd years ago on Halloween...
  18. Excuse me? Did you really just say that Buckethead is the BEST guitarist the band has ever had? WOW!! Now, if you mean most technical then fair enough. He's also more technical than Hendrix, Page, Clapton etc But absolutely NOT the best. He's never written an iconic riff or solo in his career and his 7000 albums dont sell very well.
  19. I barely even know those 5 songs... They are so bad I only listened once or twice when the album first came out and never again. So hopefully none. Quite glad they've cut down on CD stuff a lot this leg.
  20. A good reminder that sadly the band are getting old and touring days are probably going to be slowing down from here onwards.
  21. He's technically a great guitarist. Probably spent half his life locked in a room learning scales and techniques. Hopefully he's happy. But the real legendary guitarists are the ones that learned how to write a riff and great songs.
  22. I think it shows that his stuff doesn't sell because people don't enjoy it.
